Getting Started with Cheats

All Cheat Codes
riskymoney – Adds $10,000 and triggers an earthquake

howdryiam – Removes the water requirement from all buildings
whattimeizit [time] – Sets the in-game time (e.g., whattimeizit 13:00)
TerrainQuery [on/off] – Shows coordinates while hovering over terrain

barstuck – Freezes the scrolling news ticker
DollyLlama – Changes your advisors to llamas
tastyzots – Toggles Zots (complaint icons)
you don't deserve it – Unlocks every item and reward building
firedisaster – Starts a random fire disaster

flamingvolcano – Summons a volcano (Rush Hour required)
twister – Calls down a tornado
Joke – Shows a random developer joke
morepower – Increases power output temporarily
wakeup – Forces Sims to leave and re-enter homes
dirtcheap – Makes construction nearly free (Rush Hour only)
whatthefunk – Plays a random background music track
simwatch – Enables Sim-tracking mode to follow individual Sims
Easter Eggs & Hidden Features
Kane Tiberium Factory – Occasionally appears in industrial zones, referencing Command & Conquer. Kane leads the Brotherhood of Nod, and Tiberium is the game's alien resource.

Llama Obsession – Developers at Maxis filled the game with llamas, from advisor replacements to in-jokes, street names, and random flavor text.

Hovercars – If your city has high-tech industry and wealth, rare futuristic hovercars can appear in traffic as cosmetic Easter eggs.

Crazy Advisor Dialogue – When your city goes downhill, your advisors start saying things like:
“We just got sued by the zoo.”
“Your Sims are rioting. Neat!”
“Have you considered building a llama farm?”

Joke Command – Typing Joke in the cheat console gives you a goofy developer message or one-liner.

Glitches & Exploits
Gambling Revenue Exploit – Enable "Legalized Gambling" in a new city with just one road tile. You’ll earn $100 per month with zero population. Leave it running overnight at high speed for passive cash.

Infinite Funds Trick – Pause the game and spam weaknesspays. There’s no cap or cooldown. Instant billionaire.

Budget Reset Trick – Go massively into debt, pause the game, bulldoze your expensive infrastructure, and unpause. The budget recalculates favorably next month.

Double Reward Bug – If the game glitches while awarding buildings, you can place duplicates like two Country Clubs or Stock Markets.

Invisible Roads Bug – Happens due to GPU driver conflicts or custom mods. Switch from hardware to software rendering to fix.

Prop Pox – A major bug from corrupted custom content. Causes buildings to disappear and can destroy city saves. Use tools like SC4 Plugin Manager and BSC Cleanitol to prevent it.

Traffic AI Exploit – Sims prefer roads over transit, even if it's slower. Force them to use trains or subways by raising road taxes or cutting road access to zones.
Advanced Techniques & Fun Extras
Simwatch Mode – Enter simwatch, click a Sim, and follow their daily life. Great for studying commute issues or just stalking your citizens.

Induced Demand Glitch – Zone dense residential near a freeway with no roads. Sims still move in, and some services “teleport.” Unrealistic but functional.

Build Outside Borders – In rare cases, using God Mode and switching to Mayor Mode lets you place roads/buildings slightly outside city limits.

Unlock Everything at Once – Type you don't deserve it to instantly get access to all reward buildings, including those tied to population or service thresholds.
Instant Megacity Cheat Combo
1. Pause the game
2. Enter the following codes:
• you don't deserve it
• fightthepower
• howdryiam
• dirtcheap
• Spam weaknesspays until you have millions
3. Zone large high-density residential, commercial, and industrial blocks
4. Place free services: police, hospitals, schools, mass transit
5. Set time to noon with whattimeizit 12:00 for daylight
6. Hit play and watch the city explode with growth

Pro tip: Add mass transit early and structure a grid layout to avoid major traffic issues later.
Credits & Notes
Special thanks to:
• Overmind2000 – Kane Tiberium Easter Egg
• La Vaca – Gambling Exploit
• Simtropolis and SC4Devotion forums for discoveries
• Maxis for hiding jokes and llamas everywhere
Bonus Secrets & Obscure Features
U-Drive-It Events – When using U-Drive-It mode (Rush Hour expansion), rare missions can appear involving:

  • Chasing UFOs
  • Driving tanks
  • Putting out wildfires
  • Chasing criminals
  • You get hidden rewards like special buildings or budget bonuses if you complete them without destroying too much.

Llama Street Names & Businesses – Zoom in on road signs and businesses — many include llama-related puns like:
  • “Llama Street”
  • “Llama Burger”
  • “Fuzzy Llama Storage”

Flaming Volcano & Tremble Combo – If you trigger both flamingvolcano and tremble during the same pause window, the volcano will erupt faster and cause a multi-quake effect — total chaos.

Terraforming Hidden ToolsHold Shift + Ctrl + Alt while in God Mode to unlock smoother, more precise terraforming tools (this is unofficial and results vary — works better with NAM/terrain mods).

Instant Straight Roads – Hold Shift while dragging roads to lock them to a perfect 90-degree angle ideal for grids and avoiding jagged streets.

Region-Wide Growth Boost – Create multiple connected cities and specialize them (e.g., one residential, one industrial, one commercial).

  • You'll trigger inter-city demand boosts, meaning rapid growth and higher land value.

Maxis Man & Giant Monster – In very rare scenarios, a superhero named Maxis Man can spawn in disasters or U-Drive-It mode.
  • Similarly, triggering multiple disasters may cause a giant monster to stomp your city Godzilla-style.

Save Game Exploit – Start a city, trigger reward buildings, and save right before placing them. You can then reload and place them again in a different part of town bypassing the “one per city” limit.

Weird Zoning Trick – Zone residential next to industrial and crank funding for police and hospitals. Sims will still move in despite pollution if there's good coverage and no commute time works best early game.

Unlock Classic SimCity Music – In the game files (or by modding), you can unlock and add music tracks from SimCity 2000/3000 to play during gameplay.

There's a glitch in the game that allows you to earn billions of dollars within just a few seconds. Create two cities, connect both via a water deal. Buy water with one city and let the game time run for a few minutes. Then cancel the deal and sell the water back to the city you bought it from. For a few seconds, you'll get a few billion dollars (maybe more, maybe less), then the deal automatically terminates when the game finds that you're out of water to sell. If you need any clarification to this glitch, please ask.

@hardballpt
The method you described absolutely works. For those who don't like cheats, however, you can accomplish the same thing by just building a small city and tanking its economy to unlock the toxic waste dump, missile range etc., then destroying the rest of the city with disasters. If memory serves, you do not actually need to power the army base, fire station etc.. If I am mistaken and the fire station needs to be powered to work, then building one wind turbine solves that problem.

I'll take your "glitch" of 100/month and raise it by 16.15 :)

This method is a quick way to get lots of cash. But keep in mind, this method adds garbage, pollution, and radiation. Which, by the way, can all be fixed throughout gameplay... Especially if you have a ton of money.

1) start game
2) use "you don't deserve it"
3) use "fightthepower"
4) build a army base
5) build a road around the army base
6) build the following off the road:
--a) casino
--b) federal prison
--c) missile range
--d) toxic waste dump
--e) small fire station
7) Put that sucker on cheetah speed and you will generate around $500,000 every 8 minutes.

This will generate $1,750 income with a cost of $135; Leading to +$1,615/month!!!
