Issues with patch limit in Mari indie

Patch size limit or negative UV space error
If your model refuses to load in Mari indie because of a patch size limit or negative UV space, check to make sure your geometry is not touching the border of the UV tiles.

In the following images, we have some UVs in Modo that should be legal in Mari - two pieces of geometry occupying 1.0 - 2.0 UV Space.



However, if we take a closer look at the geometry in the 2.0 UV space, to the right, which would translate as UDUM 1002 in Mari, we can see that it’s slightly touching the border. Mari counts this as another UV tile and refuses to load the project.



If you are running into this problem, try scaling back your UVs slightly as the image below shows. Sometimes it’s hard to see if geometry is touching or extending over the UV boundaries.
