Ever find a huge mountain and want to see how epic the view is? But you couldn't because it was too steep to climb? In this guide I will present a method for climbing and conquering those mountains even if there is no sufficient path to the summit! Introduction
Hi! Today I will explain a tactic you can try when climbing mountains in Salt. I really just figured this out a little while before writing this, so I'm not sure if it will work for everyone. But I figured I'd share with the rest of the playerbase in case it does help someone. Also, this is my first ever guide, so please bear with me regarding any errors in terms of format, etc. Anyway, on to the explanation!
The Scenario
You have just landed on a large island with huge mountains, and decide to try to climb to the highest summit to check out the view of the surrounding area. But when you try to climb the slope, you keep falling back down! You try sprinting, jumping, all kinds of crazy things, but you just can't seem to make any progress. Defeated, you start to turn back to your vessel, but suddenly, you find this guide explaining a mountain climbing method! You read on...
The Tactic
Walk into the slope you are trying to climb, and start spamming the space bar (or your jump button equivalent). Keep holding the forward key, and look to the side so you are jumping diagonally up the hill. Now look the other way so you are jumping diagonally up the other direction from your previous path. Repeat this and you should slowly but surely make your way up the mountain in a zig-zag shaped path. Be patient and you will eventually make it up the mountain and get that awesome view!
Tips
  • Remember to use any ledges or flat sections on the way up to rest!
  • If you start sliding backwards down the mountain, don't keep jumping! Sometimes this will launch you backward off the mountain and you will fall a long way, losing precious progress!
  • How successful this tactic will be for you may depend on the individual mountain, how quickly your hardware responds to input, how fast your hardware is, or even how fast you can spam the space bar.
  • Don't give up if you slip and fall! It may take a few tries before you get the hang of it.
  • Most importantly, be patient! It IS a mountain, after all. But in the end the views are worth it!
Final Notes
I hope you enjoyed my first ever Steam guide! If there is something wrong with it, please comment and let me know what needs to be fixed. Also, be sure to try this and let me know how this works for you! Thanks for reading and happy climbing!

I hope they introduce climbing mechanics similar to Breath of the Wild. <3

If you turn around backwards and move backwards while jumping you will be able to go up steeper mountains than if you try it going forward.

OR you could go up the mountain to where you cant you any farther, and then you look down the mountain and jump backwards(still up the moutain). see you at the top! this glitch is awesome :)

Climbing up straight cliffs, using the hit the space bar repeatedly combined with the W for up wards move just slight left and right till you find a crevice or green grass, rest, make a rope and keep doing that.
I climbed the highest peak I had seen so far successfully. It's scary onto. Just a small ledge and the walked across the other. Funny how it was a daunting feeling looking down and now I gotta get down too. It was fun once done.

Easiest way to get up a mountain that I've found is turning in some buried treasure to a treasure hunter and he gives you strong climbing rope. Then use garibaldi goo. Then with your back to the mountain side you want to climb, jump whilst going backwards, just as you finish the first jump, jump again. You can get up in a minute or two if you have the right path mapped out. Look for green and jump backwards to the green. Easy as pie once you know how.

Thanks for the tip man; you just saved me from being trapped in a crevase with no rope.

Or you could just make a climbing rope with 2 strong fibers

Great guide! I've just climbed a mountain myself, could have done with seeing this beforehand haha! But i actually learned something not in this guide. using the ol' side-step dodge can REALLY help getting up those pesky ledges and with some speed to boot!
