Duke Xtreme: Reloaded Installation Guide
By NUKEMDAVE
Some fans have been wanting more expansion packs to make it to Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition, so I decided to come up with a pack that allows everyone to play one of the other expansion packs, at least.

Duke Xtreme: Reloaded
Duke Xtreme may not be the best expansion pack for Duke Nukem 3D out there, but it's playable now in Megaton Edition for anyone who's interested.

Download:
Download Duke Xtreme: Reloaded[drive.google.com] (Updated: January 6, 2014)

If you want to play a lite version of this pack that has less edited versions of the maps (closer to the original maps), you can find the download link in the link below, but the full version above is recommended. You will have a way better experience with the full version.

Installation:

Unzip the zip folder and put all of the files/folders it contains into your "Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/common/Duke Nukem 3D/gameroot" folder. You'll also need a copy of the Duke Xtreme GRP file, which should be named "EX.GRP". Put it in the "gameroot" folder, too. Some custom menu assets are included in this pack in the "data" folder that replace some existing files, if you wish to use them. They're not necessary, though. After you've done all of that, go to your Steam games list, right click on Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition and go to Properties. Click the "SET LAUNCH OPTIONS..." button and paste-in this command: duke3d.exe -gEX.GRP

Click "OK" after you've pasted the command in. Now, you should be able to play Duke Xtreme in Megaton Edition! By the way, Duke Xtreme replaces the first three episodes of the game; however, the names of the episodes will not be changed, so:

L.A. MELTDOWN = XTREME-SP ONE
LUNAR APOCALYPSE = XTREME-SP TWO
SHRAPNEL CITY = XTREME-SP THREE

Uninstallation:

All you have to do to uninstall is remove the command that you entered in "SET LAUNCH OPTIONS..." and delete all of the files that were added to your "gameroot" folder from this pack (don't delete the "data" folder if you happened to install the custom menu assets). If you installed the custom menu assets and want to restore the original menu assets, the original menu assets are included in the "originaldata" folder.

Have fun! Keep a check on this guide, as more improvements may be made if they are discovered. Re-download the pack(s) if necessary if they date changes next to the link.

I think I'll keep the instructions as they are for right now, but maybe some people will see your comment and might do it that way. I think I'll also remove the link to the lite version of the pack. If anyone really wants to play the maps in a less edited form, I'll still have a link up in the thread I made for this project on Duke4.net's forums.

I'm not sure about Duke!Zone 2. I've never tried it yet. And I'll try what you suggested. I wasn't aware of that.

Good guide, certified working.

The "Set Launch Option" can be skipped though, there's an easier solution imho, you can simply create a desktop shortcut for megaton edition, right click on it, properties, and add this to the URL field: -gEX.grp

It should look like this:

steam://rungameid/225140//-gEX.grp

The shortcut will launch everything needed and you don't have to set custom parameters each time you want to play the addon / replay the original game. You still have to remove the .con files however, the original game will be fucked up if they're still in.

Pretty sure you knew that but that may help some users.

Otherwise, i tried to launch some others addons recently, Penthouse Paradise is working good but i can't get Duke!Zone 2 to run this way, maybe i did something wrong (or maybe i don't have all files needed), if you got any idea on this...
