How to make this game run if you have problems.

If you have trouble after installing this game, you need to goto the _CommonRedist folder in the game install directory and then:

1) go in the PhysX folder and then the 9.12.1031 folder and run / install PhysX-9.12.1031-SystemSoftware.msi

2) go in the DirectX folder and then the Jun2010 folder and run / install DXSETUP.exe

3) you may need to reboot, I cant remember.

This should install the drivers and stuff the game needs to run that is missing.

You dont need to download anything. For this example, I am using windows 7 64 bit with the game installed in the default directory on c: drive which is a x86 or 32 bit.

This is what you do.

1) First off make a copy of the _CommonRedist folder contents first just to be safe. You can delete it if you want when you are done and the game runs.

I mention the actual file names in the first part of this guide but I dont see them now. They must of dissapeared after I ran them so make a copy first.

2) use :my computer" and open up the folder "C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Woodcutter Simulator 2013\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\ and look for an .exe program. Run that. I believe the file is named "DXSETUP.exe" and it doesnt matter if you are 64 or 32 bit. It will know and install the correct files for you.

You may want to make a copy first as mine disapeared after I installed it. If you dont have an exe file, look in the "Jun2010 archieves and run the .exe or .exe's you find. x86 is for 32 bit programs, x64 is for 64 bit programs

Since the game was installed in a x86 programs directory, I would try the x86 first. If you are 64 bit and the 32bit doesnt make the game run, try the x64 ones.

3) use :my computer" and open up the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Woodcutter Simulator 2013\_CommonRedist\PhysX\9.12.1031\ and look for an .exe file and Run that. I believe the file is named "PhysX-9.12.1031-SystemSoftware.msi".

I would of put in the exact names of the files but I have already installed them and they are gone. If you cant find the files I mentioned, you may want to redownload the game and make a copy of the _CommonRedist folder befor you try installing them if the game still doesnt work.

This worked for me and if it works for you, can some one let me know the exact names of the files and I will update my guide to be more specific.

Getting started playing the game for the first time.
I was lost in the beginning when I first played this game. Standing their with a chainsaw in my hands but nothing to cut.

First thing you will need to do is click on the book in the lower left corner and accept a job to cut trees. If you need more help, watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJ8NqfzWmB8

Also do a google search for Woodcutter Simulator 2013 keyboad commands so you can run and look forward if you get stuck looking backwards like what i did when i first tried playing the game.

You will want to move towards the green tree on nav map after taking a job. This will take a while. Look for the trees with the white horizontal cut lines. Those are the trees to cut.

find the file, right click on it, choose properties and make sure its not set to read only. No idea ifit will work but its worth a shot.

getting this error before i can even install the game, any help?

No idea, Im stumped, no pun intended. If you have any programs like xpadder or the logetech profiler not currently being used but running in the background you could try closing them as they remap buttons and stuff. You could verify the cache in steam and try rebooting. Try rebooting to safe mode with networking and see if it works. These are all just guesses to try and eliminate the variables.

Also look in the game directory and also the save game folder and see if their is any kind of log file or crash dump file.

So i loaded the game fine ! i can run around and stuff i went to teh book and got a qwest ! found the tree on the map and went to it ! found the tree with the marker on it got the radar in the right stop ! next u push red button or space bar to cut ! when i push red button or space bar it kicks me out of the game back to my computer home page so it just shuts the game off when i try to cut teh tree down ?????? any ideas????

I couldn't start the game, it always ended before the main menu screen.
Like you said, there is a "redist" folder in the game installation folder, and i found the physX install file. Although i have an nvidia card with a newer physX installation, seems that my version didn't have the old needed files. Selecting the "Repair" option, once clicked in the physX file (the one from the game redist folder), did the job, installing the missed needed files.
I didn't need to restart the computer, perhaps because i had physX installed with the drivers, but the game ran flawless since then.
The game uses only DirecX 9. Having Windows XP, i hadn't any problem from that side. But it doesn't hurt to install the directX files from the game's redist folder if you have vista, 7 and up, to get every old directX file needed for the game.

I can get into the game, I can run around... but that is literally it... I can not buy anything, I can not cut down any trees and I have no "radar" to help me with "you are not in the right position"...

What am I doing wrong, what the hell am I supposed to do?
