Titan

Popis
This is an attempt at Titan with conditions as close to the real thing as the game engine will allow.

This map has been fully redesigned using the new terrain engine and includes:
- custom designed terrain and textures
- named regions
- deep mining areas
- multiple spawn points (more to come!)
- points of interest
- custom start conditions (bringing back the Mk1 Landers for now)

This map presents some unique challenges by mixing the low temperature of Europa (even colder), the flammable atmosphere of Vulcan and even less visibility than Venus. There is very little about Titan that is not inherently hostile, and I have tried to bring that to this map.

There are abundant volatile and nitrice plus a little water and hydrocarbon (coal) deposits, but few metals at the surface. The temperature is balanced around the boiling point of volatiles, meaning that you can expect pools of it to form in exposed areas when the temperature drops and you may need to develop new strategies for safe airlock use.

Leading causes of death on this map may include, but are not limited to:
- Flammable gas mixes in airlocks
- Wind related injuries
- Lack of oxygen
- Freezing due to power loss
- Loss of situational awareness due to fog
- Explosions due to freezing pipes and dangerous gas mixes
- Accidental ingestion of N2O

Beef's Room Defogger is strongly recommended!

Atmosphere:
- 95% Nitrogen,
- 5% Volatiles

At the (very low) ambient temperatures volatiles will tend to freeze out into liquid fog, meaning these percentages will vary over the day/night cycle, and the vapour effects seem to generate increased buoyancy when near the ground (nothing I can do about this!).

Ideally the ambient temperature would be a few degrees lower but this results in volatiles freezing out during the night. Whilst this looks awesome, it also spawns tens of thousands of ice objects which crashes the game after the first frame is rendered and they start to fall. I suspect if it worked they would also hurt, a lot. As a result I've had to bump the temperatures up a few degrees to prevent it from happening. Don't worry though, it's still plenty cold enough!

Ores:
The frozen hydrocarbon surface has reserves of usable ices and hydrocarbons (coal) but only scant ores, deposited by metorites but dig below the surface and you'll undercover a frozen sea of water ice and beneath that a rocky core rich in minerals.

Gravity:
Gravity on Titan is 1.352m/s/s which is only about 14% of Earth (or about 84% of the Moon's gravity). Combined with the thick atmosphere things will feel very light on the surface
(note however that once inside a room the game engine magically gives you normal gravity - also nothing I can do about that)

Starting Conditions:
Modified starting conditions to swap out solar for wind power (trust me you're not going to see much sunshine on this map!) and to provide a deep miner which you can use to extract metals from the core

PSA: This is not an easy map. This is a "kick in the stomach by a meth whore with sores on her mouth" type of map.

Not a map I would suggest for noobies unless you enjoy interacting with crack-whores.

:steamhappy:

ive got 7400 hrs in stationeers...and with this mod im 0-3....yeah the mod is kicking my backside! and i love it!!! but plz change the lighting. being only able to see 2m with a suit light it too much. plz set it the to default. this game imo has enough lighting issues already

Yeah I spotted that! I've done a fix for the starting loadout (which also now fits into a single MkII lander). As for the copper, there is some but I had to travel just out of sight of the base (in daytime!) to find it (but a decent vein when I did). From memory I think try heading roughly north/northeast once you're onto the flatter part of the lake bed (I'll try to check!!)

I saw the 2 beacons and labelers as well.

I also... found out there doesn't seem to be any surface copper at the first labeled landing zone. I searched in a fairly large zone. Perhaps just the RNG gods have looked the other way from me. :( I need to start over anyways with the map change.

Found out that we start with 2 labelers and 2 tracking beacons

I believe it is fixed, although it may cause terrain to regen - sorry!

There's an issue with the deep mining map. Right now it's using the central lakebed mix everywhere - I'm looking into it. I also discovered the when the maps are imported they get flipped vertically so regional names referencing north/south will need an update

Its cold outside baby! :stoneheart:
Will look forward to trying this out.... again.
