Introduction

This simple(but complicated) guide will show you how to Undub the narrator voice from English to Japanese. Which I believe only shows up within the pre-rendered cutscene.

Step 1

Go to your Once upon a Katamari installation folder by right clicking on the game name from the list on your library. Then select Manage > Browse local files

or by going to your SteamApps folder and navigating to the following directory

steamapps\common\OnceUponaKATAMARI\

Step 2

Once the folder browser opened, navigate to

OnceUponaKATAMARI_Data\StreamingAssets\Movie

Step 3

Once you're inside, look for the file

Ending02_EN.usm Outline01_EN.usm Outline02_EN.usm PreEnding01_EN.usm

Delete these files (or make a backup off it).

Then duplicate the following file (copy and then pasting in the same folder)

Ending02.usm Outline01.usm Outline02.usm PreEnding01.usm

Rename the duplicated file by adding the postfix _EN on each file so it will be

Ending02.usm -> Ending02_EN.usm Outline01.usm -> Outline01_EN.usm Outline02.usm -> Outline02_EN.usm PreEnding01.usm -> PreEnding01_EN.usm

Step 4 (Final)

Launch the game and replay the movie that were narrated before. If you followed everything, it should play in Japanese language instead with the subtitle in English.

If somehow you messed up and wanted to revert it, you can just check the file integrity within Steam by going to the game list, and right click to "Properties"

then select "Installed Files" and then click on "Verify integrity of game files"
