OK, so like how do I actually do it?
Like the game, the community and our SEGA overlords themselves will tell you time and time again:

1. Take your foot/hand/finger/nose OFF the accelerate button
2. Shift into D by quickly swapping gears (you have to be like 1/2 a second quick)
3. Slam that accelerate button and... OFF YOU GO!

...maybe.

I might just be dumb or even just dumb, but there is a certain rhythm to pulling this combo off and it is damn near essential for playing the game as perfectly as possible, ESPECIALLY if you are going for 100% in crazy box.

Originally, I thought to pull the move off, you had to go in a 1-2 manner; that is using one button press to shift into R and then the second dual press of shifting into D and accelerating at the SAME time.

This is incorrect.

The proper way to do it is a 1-2-3 manner. Except bloody fast.

Within the span of a second you need to let go of accelerate, shift gears and accelerate again. This is easier said than done because the timing is pretty precise and annoying.

The way I figured it out was by using a phrase to remember the timing.

May not work for everyone but this is what I came up with:

"Cra-zy-dash" Wow mind boggling I know.

1 - 2 - 3 (all within the span of 1 second, not any longer)

saying that >1 second phrase out loud multiple times to get the timing right, while doing it in unison with the button presses eventually just clicked and now it feels as natural as breathing or going for your morning dump.

And with this newfound knowledge I proceeded to beat the game in literally 10 minutes.

2025 me did what 2009 me would have needed black magic to do on his tainty dainty little ps2.

OK so that's it. Might not be the best way of explaining things but basically just practice and it works.

Thanks for reading this guide to a delisted game that is somehow worth more than a three course meal on the Steam key black market.

Oh yeah and while you're at it, do yourself a favor and mod the game to add back in the original soundtrack.

It ain't Crazy Taxi without The Offspring. YA YA YA YA YA
