How to fix the issue

-Press the "esc" key, or whichever key opens your list of options.
--If none of your keyboard inputs are working, hold the "alt" key and click on the game window. This should fix the issue caused by tabbing in and out of the game too quickly.

-Assuming you were able to open the options list, click "capture mode".

-Exit capture mode, either by pressing the escape key again, or by clicking the stylized "X" icon in the top left of the window opened when capture mode is enabled.
--This should reset player control to you.
