The mission is to kill 100 cactus with THORNS damage. It goes without saying, no cactus, no mission.

Cactus will never be the FIRST to spawn, you will see mummies first then a second type of enemy at 8:59, if you do not see cactus spawning at 8:59, just restart (Press & hold R), this is better than waiting for another few minutes just to see no cactus at all. There's RNG involved but you don't have to get 100 kills in one run, but you want to make sure whenever you get cactus spawns you are not wasting the opportunity

The most important stats to have for this challenge is THORNS damage and damage mitigation. While you can get thorns with thorns tome on any character, Athena has innate thorns damage as well as Aegis which serves as damage mitigation. Picking Athena is therefore recommended.

• Aegis - This blocks one damage, you will be catching a lot of cactus attacks so this becomes a very essential item
  
• Katana - Short range at early level, stops you from accidentally wiping out cactus enemies. It will not slice half way across the map at tier 1 just yet.
  
• Dexcutioner - Same as katana.
  
• 4th weapon - Your choice, just make sure it's very short range and will not be stackwiping cactus enemies. Chonker stones, aura, etc are great since they are limited in range and won't accidentally kill cactus.

• Thorns - 3-4 levels would suffice, I did not actually get a throns tome and still unlocked it, you can likely do it quicker with thorns tome.
  
• Projectile count - Aegis scales with projectile count, allowing you to take more cactus shots, also gives your short range weapon more defence.
  
• Shields - Allows you to take more cactus shots equals faster completion
  
• Lifesteal - Essential for sustaining the cactus attacks

• Campfire - Literally heals you while you stand around to tank cactus shots
  
• Beacon - Allows healing on the go between jukes
  
• Burgers - Heals the occasional damage in case you take too many shots
  
• Spikey shield - Gives you thorns damage - But since it's not a common item, the chance of you getting this PLUS seeing cactus is not very high. If you see it definitely pick it up.

Anything long range - Slutty rocket, sniper rifles, daggers, anything with range that bounces you don't want them, because they can hurt the cactus by accident.

• Pickup range - You don't need it.
  
• Size - You don't need it.
  
• Attack speed - Not needed. You need to be tanky to eat the cactus shots.

Moldy cheese - Meta boss killer, but beware the poison damage CAN accidentally kill cactus. If you feel like you are not scaling well against bosses and there are a lot of cactus and you got Thorns 3, moldy cheese is still viable.

Anything poison, burn, DOT = avoid.
