How to beat The Trail of the Lamb
By Nensha
Hello guys! This guide will explain how to beat Trail of the Lamb and show you some tricks that will help you complete specific missions on this trail. I am also planning to make more guides like this for the other trails.

Introduction
The main idea of this guide is to show you how to complete every mission in this trail. I will also provide information that will help achieve the Prince of Sands rank, but this is not a necessity, since you can still beat those trails without worrying about your time.
Mission 1 - A Noble Ally
This mission serves as an introduction to The Trail of the Lamb. You are up against three Nomads while our beloved Rat is our ally.
Word of advice: Do not underestimate Nomad! Nomad is the fastest attacking lord in the game and is pretty good at harassing your economy.
Before we get to the mission, I want to start with your ally (Despite being utterly useless in fighting). He is going to tank early Nomads' attacks, which gives us a lot of time to prepare our economy.
Now for the mission: Where to start and what to do?
1. Destroy your stockpile and place it closer to the stone and iron resources.
2. Spend half of your money on wood, and build your economy.
It should look something like this:
What about defending?
We must protect our land from enemy units that can infiltrate our territory. We have to defend two sides. The north side is closer to our keep than the south side. I suggest walling the north side area with a small wall. You can also put a tower there with at least 20 bowmen (Arabic archers are better than European archers, but European ones are cheaper to make). Still, I suggest using Horse Archers for both attacking and defending.
Now that the north side is covered, the easiest way to defend the southern side is to gather an army and attack the Nomads.
Attacking:
Nomad is pretty easy to beat. The most suitable idea is to recruit 60-100 Horse Archers. You can out-range Nomad troops since the only range unit Nomads use is a Skirmisher. Regarding melee units, I suggest using Assassins or Macemen, if you have the funds. 20-30 Assassins should be enough to kill the Nomad. You can also place some Dancing Bear for +5 Positive Fear to give a fighting bonus to your units.
Mission 2 - The Beach
In this mission, we face four AI opponents. Two from North (Sultan and Kahin), and two from South (Rat and Pig).
In this mission, you will probably face Kahin for the first time. In my opinion, she is a decent opponent, and possibly the most troublesome in this pack (being tougher than Rat and Sultan is not an achievement). However, don't worry, she is not as annoying as Nomad and is pretty easy to counter.
What to do and How to Start?
You can rely on the stone resource close to your castle. You can place 5 or 6 stone quarries there. Don't forget to move your stockpile closer to your quarries and start crossbow production. Also, wall the area to the North where the Sultan is, to protect your farmlands.
It should look something like this:
How to Defend?
I already talked about the wall, but you can get some archers/crossbowmen on your keep (10 crossbowmen should be enough), and you can also use your Lord to kill the remaining Arabian Swordmen. Don't worry about Kahin; she is pretty slow.
How to Attack?
After finishing building your quarries, spend your remaining gold to buy Horse Archers, around 15-20. Use them to attack Rat's Keep. (You can also use your Spearmen to destroy his exposed barracks)
Be careful about macemen attacks from Pig (He is pretty slow in this mission) After you've killed Rat (Recuit 10 Assasins to finish the job) you can get more Horse Archers, and start attacking Pig, 50-75 Horse Archers should be enough to deal with him (You can also get some Portable Shield, but the are not needed for now), once you are done with Pig defence (Proritizie attacking crossbowmen on the towers) recruit to 20-25 Assisins to finish him.
Now, dealing with Sultan is pretty easy; you can use the army you attacked Pig with to deal with him, and also recruit some additional units to prepare for Kahin. She should not have completed her castle, so getting to her should be straightforward.
Mission 3 - River Island
This is my favorite part of the trail. You are up against eight AI opponents, and they are in three different alliances. Emir and Caliph from the east. Snake and Richard from the west, and two Nomads and Kahin from further west.
Before we begin, I'd like to offer a brief tip. Don't worry about the west for now, since both Nomads and Kahin are constantly bullying Richard and Snake, so you can focus on fighting both Arabian lords from the east.
What to do and How to Start?
First, start by destroying the stockpile and moving closer to stone resources up north. Then dig a moat as shown in the picture below. Here is also how your economy should look:
Attacking:
Don't worry about defending. After you have completed the early buildings, you can start harassing the Emir with Horse Archers. Additionally, I recommend using Portable Shield primarily against Caliph, but also start using it against the Emir. (100 Horse Archers and 50 Portable Shields should be sufficient to win this mission.) Emir should not be a problem, but for Caliph, I recommend taking care of his north tower with your Horse Archers (BEWARE OF THE FIRE PITS!). And to finish them, you can use Assassins or Macemen. If you have finished with Caliph and Emir, you should have enough troops to deal with Richard, or Snake; the rest does not require any explanation.
Mission 4 - Bedouin Lands
This is, in my opinion, the hardest mission on this trail. It's a bit similar to the first mission, but now we are up against four Nomads with Lionheart as our ally.
What to do and How to Start?
As in the previous missions, move your stockpile closer to the resources, and now you have to be more careful since three Nomads will focus on Richard, while you have to defend against the Purple Nomad. Dig a moat to the west, as shown in the screenshot. This is how your economy and defense should look:
Attacking:
Similar to the first mission, recruit some Horse Archers to defend against the first Nomads' attacks, and when you have 50-100 Horse Archers, you can start attacking Nomads. Don't forget to recruit some Assassins (20-40) to finish the job.
Mission 5 - Deadly Alliance
This is the easiest mission on this trail. There is not much to explain. You are up against Kahin and Pig.
Now you are asking yourself. Why is this mission the easiest if enemies have more money than you, and Pig has Nomadic Outpost? So let me tell you. Buy 50 Macemen and place at least 10 Dancing Bears (for a positive fear factor, which is also the cheapest option). Buy 25 Macemen for yourself and send them to Pig's Castle (that should be enough). Buy the remaining 25 to assist them. After killing Pig, send your macemen to attack Kahin (Be careful, Eunuchs can destroy your entire army, and be aware of fire pits). You can also buy some extra Macemen to make it easy, or you can take a safe approach and focus on your economy to create a decent siege, because after killing Pig, you have a lot of time to do that.
Fun Fact:
This is the only mission (at the time I am writing this guide) where an Enemy Opponent has an Outpost of any kind.
Thank you for attention
If my guide helped, you can leave a like and add to favorite. If you have any suggestions on how I can improve my guide, you can leave a comment. I'm going to make How to beat The Trail of the Goat in the future, but I make no promises.
