LIFE SKILLS
Once our character turns 17 and the main quest [sᴇᴀ ʙʀᴇᴇᴢᴇ, ꜰɪʀᴇᴡᴏʀᴋs, ᴀɴᴅ ʏᴏᴜ] is completed, life skill professions will become available. To unlock them, open [ʟɪꜰᴇ sᴋɪʟʟ] in the main menu [ᴇsᴄ] and select [ᴜɴʟᴏᴄᴋ] to begin its starter quest. There are no restrictions as to how many we can take, so it is possible to level them all on a single character if desired.

Gathering professions
• ʙᴏᴛᴀɴʏ → herbs, plants, mushrooms, fruits
• ɢᴇᴍᴏʟᴏɢʏ → mining crystal ore
• ᴍɪɴᴇʀᴀʟᴏɢʏ → mining ore

While ꜰɪsʜɪɴɢ is not considered a life skill, it is worth noting that fish can be used as an ingredient for Culinary dishes. [ʟᴇᴀʀɴ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ ꜰɪsʜɪɴɢ!]

Crafting professions
• ᴀʟᴄʜᴇᴍʏ → reagents, buff potions, toys, furniture plants and pottery
• ᴀʀᴛɪsᴀɴʀʏ → weapons, wood based materials and furniture
• ᴄᴜʟɪɴᴀʀʏ → reagents, buff food, cheer-up treats and fishing bait
• ɢᴇᴍᴄʀᴀꜰᴛɪɴɢ → armor accessories, stat gems and furniture
• sᴍᴇʟᴛɪɴɢ → weapons and armor, gear refining materials, metallic furniture and lamps
• ᴡᴇᴀᴠɪɴɢ → armor, charms, costume dyes and textile furniture

Good pairs
The following life skills pairs relatively well together:
Botany → Alchemy, culinary, weaving Gemology → Gemcrafting Mineralogy → Smelting
Alchemy → Botany Artisanry → Gemcrafting, smelting Culinary → Botany Gemcrafting → Atisanry, gemology Smelting → Mineralogy Weaving → Botany

🔎 Focused vs Normal
Once a profession is unlocked, we'll notice that there are two main categories when it comes to gathering and crafting: [ꜰᴏᴄᴜsᴇᴅ] and [ɴᴏʀᴍᴀʟ]. For crafting, the difference between the two is that they offer different recipes.

As for gathering, the difference is quite slim. Normal harvests will drop non-tradeable items for ourselves that can be used for [ʀᴇɢᴜʟᴀʀ] crafting later - while its focused counterpart will give tradeable items to use with [ꜰᴏᴄᴜsᴇᴅ] crafting, which can also be listed for sale in the Trading Center. A prompt will appear as we approach a gathering node, allowing us to select our preferred method. If an item appears in red, it means it has yet to be unlocked:

🔶 Focus and mastery points
By default, we have access to all [ɴᴏʀᴍᴀʟ] gathering nodes and recipes, with more becoming available as our profession level increases. But for [ꜰᴏᴄᴜsᴇᴅ] items, we will need to unlock them by allocating [ʟɪꜰᴇ sᴋɪʟʟ ᴍᴀsᴛᴇʀʏ] points. These points are earned at a ratio of 1 point for every 300 focus used. Every day at reset, we are granted 400 focus for free and it can accumulate up to a certain cap. Since receiving mastery points is dependent on the number of focus used, it is important to diminish our focus pool once or twice a week to ensure it can continue to regenerate without hitting the cap.

Every profession has its own selection of masteries which can be used to improve drop rate, harvesting speed and learning new recipes. Furthermore, the mastery tokens previously earned are not bound to the skill which they were earned with. They can be used to improve any profession!

[ꜰᴏᴄᴜs ᴘᴏᴛɪᴏɴ]
Can be used to replenish focus.
Obtained from mystery store, guild store and season pass rewards.

[ʀᴇsᴇᴛ ᴛɪᴄᴋᴇᴛ]
Used to reset ᴀʟʟ masteries for ᴏɴᴇ profession.
Obtained from the Orb store.

Reset a mastery
To reset a mastery, we can select the profession we wish to change and open its mastery tab. Then press the arrow icon 🔄️ at the bottom of the screen to consume a [ʀᴇsᴇᴛ ᴛɪᴄᴋᴇᴛ]

💰 Selling items
All focus-oriented items that we gathered and crafted can be listed in the Trade Center for other players to purchase. This is a good starting method to earning some [ʟᴜɴᴏ (ᴜɴʙᴏᴜɴᴅ)] which can be used to buy things in the Trade Center, or converted to [ʟᴜɴᴏ (ʙᴏᴜɴᴅ)]

🌾 Weekly quests
Weekly profession quests are a great source of ᴇxᴘ if we're looking to level up our life skills. They are easy to complete and can be accomplished with "normal" gathering and crafting actions so that no focus is used. Additionally, most materials can be purchased from various exchange ɴᴘᴄs throughout the main cities and the homestead. These quests reset every Monday and can be picked up by speaking with the supply collector Gaido located inside the Artisan Guild in Asterleeds:
