How to Play Vintage Story with Friends (No VPN or Server Needed!)

What you need to do
  • Open SaveSync before starting Vintage Story and select the Vintage Story game
  • Enable LAN Sync
  • Ask your friends to do the same on their PCs
  • LAN Sync creates a VPN like service using the Steam network, no need for port forwarding or extra setup
  • Once connected, you’ll see a notification confirming the connection between you and your friends
  • If you don’t see the connection notification, open your Steam Friends list, right-click your friend’s name, and select Invite to Game
  • Copy the IP address shown under the LAN Sync section, this is the IP Vintage Story will use, share it with your friends
  • Launch Vintage Story and load your world
  • Pause the game and click Open to LAN to start hosting
What your friends need to do
  • Enable LAN Sync as explained in the “What you need to do” section
  • If you don’t see a connection notification, check your Steam Friends list to see if the host has sent an invite, then click Play Game
  • Launch Vintage Story
  • Click Multiplayer, then select Add New Server
  • Enter any server name you like, paste the LAN Sync IP sent by the host, and click Create
  • Double-click the newly created server to join the game
