The Watcher: Prologue
So You’ve Bought the DLC — Now What?

At the start of the game, you find yourself in a strange land, far away from everything familiar. Don’t worry, though — after heading east for a while, you’ll arrive in a more recognizable area.

Your main objective now is to locate the Echoes in Chimney Canopy, Shaded Citadel, and Farm Arrays in order to progress further into the game (Beware that other areas outside these regions may be closed off or inaccessible). However, be careful: once you collect your final Echo, you’ll be teleported to a new region depending on which Echo you obtained last.

Once you’ve finished this first stage, it’s time to start exploring and searching for new Echoes in these strange and hostile new horizons, teeming with unfamiliar flora and fauna!
The Watcher: Slugcat
The Watcher is a slugcat whose stats and abilities closely resemble those of the Survivor. It primarily feeds on plants and small creatures like centipedes. Unlike the Survivor, however, the Watcher can acquire unique powers and adaptations by encountering Echoes, increasing its chances of survival in these dangerous new regions and helping it achieve its main goal.

After finishing the prologue of the Watcher’s journey, two main skills will be acquired (Unlocked after meeting Spinning Top up to two times). The first skill is relatively simple, resembling a neuron-like glow that allows easy traversal through darkness.

The second allows camouflage, similar to white lizards, allowing smooth movement through regions. However, keep in mind that some creatures can still detect the Watcher, either by sound or after prolonged exposure.

(Camouflage is limited but rechargeable over time. Overusing it causes a stun on the Watcher).

After finishing the prologue, you will encounter an unusual karma system that doesn’t resemble anything you’re familiar with. Fear not, though—it is actually quite similar to the system you already know and will grow as you meet more Echoes, enhancing your skills in the process.

Forming Paths
After Ripple level reaches 3, the Watcher gains the ability to open portals to other regions at random. However, this requires being under the effect of a Karma Flower, which will be consumed. Otherwise, the Watcher will be teleported to one of several extremely dangerous regions—Corrupted Factories, Crumbling Fringes, Decaying Tunnels or Infested Wastes.

These areas are teeming with creatures that primarily rely on sound to hunt, and while inside them, the Watcher cannot use this skill. Keep this in mind, as each of these regions contains a portal leading either to the Outer Rim or to a random region, depending on your progression.

(I will refer to this skill as Warp, and as Bad Warp when no Karma Flower is used.)
(I do not recommend using Bad Warp unless you’re aiming for the Prince or Weaver ending. Only do so if you’re too curious—but otherwise, wait until you reach higher Ripple levels, especially to avoid the Walk of Shame of Outer Rim, since can be quite tedious to do.)

Levitation
While being above Ripple level 5, using your camouflage skill grants a brief lapse of time during which the Watcher will levitate. Once the camouflage ends or is canceled, the effect stops, and you cannot trigger it again until the Watcher reaches the ground. You can also activate this skill briefly just before a jump and similars, which increase the jump distance.

Ripplespace Rifts
While being above Ripple level 7, using your camouflage skill will create tears in space, spawning two types of creatures: Ripple Jellies, which can be consumed by touching them, and Ripple Amoebas, which actively hunt the Watcher and can kill him if engaged for too long.

Ripplespace
While being at Ripple level 9, using your camouflage skill instead transports you into Ripplespace, where creatures and objects from the normal world cannot interact with you—and you cannot interact with them. (While in Ripplespace, the entrance to Daemon opens). However, most Rot remains, and the presence of Ripple Amoebas is noticeable.

Dial Warp
Spoiler Warning
Unlike other skills, this one can only be obtained by collecting all Ripple Spawn Eggs located in the Outer Rim- Once this is accomplished, the Ripple Spider will materialize to guide you toward the far northeast of the region, where the final stage of this task awaits.

Upon completion, the Watcher will gain the ability to create a Special Warp, allowing him to select a regional destination of their choice. The game will automatically save once the warp is completed. However, after each use, this ability will require the Watcher to collect at least 50 Ripple Spawn Eggs before it can be activated again.

(Outer Rim's Ripple Spawn Eggs will only materialize while the Watcher is holding a Karma Flower, or if a Karma Flower has been consumed during the current cycle.)

Tips & Advices
To properly obtain this skill, it is recommended to use a strategy similar to the Prince Ending. First, increase your Ripple Level to at least 7—ideally 9. Once ready, perform a Bad Warp to reach the Outer Rim. From there, head toward the Throne and unlock all four rooms by creating a Warp Point in each one, returning to the Throne after every warp to open the next. Repeat this process until all rooms are unlocked, then shelter in the fourth room.

Afterward, take a Karma Flower from any room and change to any other region to intentionally perform another Bad Warp, aiming to reach the eastern section of the Outer Rim. If unsuccessful, consume the Karma Flower and restart. This is necessary because the Outer Rim is divided into two main sections—the eastern area can lead north, but travel from the northern area back to the east is not possible. You can use this [alduris.github.io]to find all Ripple Spawn Eggs.

(The reason for increasing your Ripple Level to at least 7 is that higher levels increase the likelihood of being teleported directly to the Outer Rim rather than to any other rotted region. Additionally, reaching the far northeast of the Outer Rim requires frequent use of the previously mentioned Levitation skill, and it is recommended to have the Pull Spear from Wall ability enable in the Rain World Remix settings.)
The Watcher: Locations
Once the prologue is complete, your destination will depend on the final Echo you choose—Coral Caves, Sunbaked Alley, or Torrential Railways. Although none of these areas contain an Echo themselves, they serve as gateways to other regions, marking the beginning of your journey.

The next tables cover the key info for each region — whether it has an Echo, how many shelters there are, how many connections to other regions, and how challenging it is based on my experience. If you’re struggling to find your way, don’t hesitate to check this[alduris.github.io]!

Please note that I have based their difficulty levels on situations where skill alone is not enough—luck must also be on your side to traverse them, especially if you aim to reach their Echo, assuming one exists. Additionally, some regions remain inaccessible until a higher Ripple level.

(Almost all regions connect to Daemon which can only enter after unlocking Ripplespace.)
The Watcher: Achievements
In this section, I won’t be providing a direct guide on how to obtain all Steam achievements. However, I highly recommend an already established guide for obtaining all Watcher achievements, as the guide by Combat explains everything far better than I ever could.

Please take a look and give it the recognition it deserves!

The Watcher: Endings
Last but not least, I will explain how to achieve every ending provided by this DLC. You may consult this section freely, as all major spoilers have not been included; I will only provide guidance on how to reach each ending, an some minor spoilers.

Spinning Top
Throughout your journey, you will encounter a friendly and eccentric Echo known as Spinning Top, recognizable by its distinctive laughter and peculiar manner of speaking—lost and alone, much like yourself. To achieve this ending, you must find it across several regions, gradually increasing your Ripple level with each encounter until you reach Ripple level 9.

After reaching level 9, you must search for a long-forgotten place shrouded in an unending winter storm, where space itself begins to crumble and tear open. (Shattered Terrace)

(Daemon connects to Shattered Terrace; but you will need to enter Ripplespace to access it).
(Meeting Spinning Top again after reaching Ripple Level 9 no longer increases your Ripple Level; instead, it lowers the minimum Ripple Level threshold, with a maximum cap of 9.)

The Prince
Within a long-forgotten land swept by fierce winds, a newborn kingdom of hunger has emerged. Among its inhabitants, one unlike any other waits in the shadows.

To achieve this ending, you must spread its kingdom—also known as the Sentient Rot—to all other regions. To do so, the player must mainly warp from an infected room to a healthy region, but not the other way around. This can also be done through region portals and echoes; however, it is less efficient, as you’ll need to wait until the infection spreads near the portal / echo room.

(Infected rooms are characterized by their purple-like palette, and the presence of black particles floating around. These rooms are located within any infected region, which are marked on map.)

Infected rooms become more hostile due to the presence of rot-like creatures, and local food sources will transform into their decayed variants—which provide less nourishment and have a chance to stun the Watcher. Additionally, with each passing cycle, the infection may spread further, contaminating nearby rooms and increasing the chance of all aforementioned effects.

(Almost all regions can be infected, except for Shattered Terrace, Daemon, and Ancient Urban).

Tips & Advices
Before starting this ending, it is recommended to increase your Ripple Level to the maximum, or at least to Level 7, as it will be required to progress further and unlock new areas in the Outer Rim—specifically within The Throne—which are crucial for the next and most optimal strategy:

After reaching at least Ripple Level 7, you must perform a Bad Warp to the Outer Rim, where you will be teleported after passing through the portal of any random rot-infected region. From there, head west toward the main chamber of The Throne. Once inside, a new room will be unlocked. You must create a warp in that room, then return from the region to The Throne again. After that, go back to the main chamber and repeat this process until all four rooms, each with their respective portals, have been created. Once this is done, shelter in the fourth room.

From there, select one of the four regions that you believe is the easiest and has the most nearby rooms connected to the warp point. From that point on, your main objective will be to survive and rest within that same region for several cycles, allowing the infection to spread to other rooms. Once a vast number of rooms have become infected, proceed to the next stage.

In the final stage, you must return to The Throne, eat a Karma Flower, and take another before returning to your selected region. After that, create warp points in any infected rooms you can to open portals—ideally—to healthy regions. Then, go back and look for another room to create a new warp point to hopefully reach another healthy region using your remaining Karma Flower.

(Take into account that rooms where you have created a warp are incapable of spreading Rot to nearby rooms until they are sealed by The Weaver, which occurs after about five cycles.)
(Although this method involves a bit of RNG, the game seems to favor warps to healthy regions.)

The Weaver
Across the ripples of space and time that weave through countless regions, a golden, serpent-like being waits in silence, spinning threads of radiant silk to close distortions and preserve balance.

To obtain this ending, use your Warp skill and Karma Flowers—following a strategy similar to the Prince Ending once you reach Ripple Level 7—ideally 9. The main difference is that, instead of of waiting for the infection to set in, you will need to create a warp—two if possible—each cycle over approximately five cycles, making full use of your Karma Flowers. This approach will make the next step significantly easier. (For more details, refer to the Prince Ending or the Dial Warp section.) (The Weaver can also appear more than once in the same region.)

After this period, there is a chance that the Weaver will appear to seal one of your warps. When this occurs, you must search for the strands of Blue Silk within Ripplespace, as they will guide you to it. This process must be repeated at least four times in order to progress to the next stage. Once this is completed, a new last objective: Closing all portals in all regions. (After encountering the Weaver four times, strands of Blue Silk will begin to appear, guiding you to nearby portals.)

New Skills & Passives
After four encounters with it, the Watcher will develop a new skill, allowing them to close portals to other regions after passing through them. In addition, the Watcher will gain the ability to create Warps at will without consuming a Karma Flower, effectively eliminating the need for Bad Warps; however, each warp created this way can only be used once.

The Watcher will also gain several passive attributes. These include the ability to gradually purify the current infected room, immunity to most forms of Rot (though Rot-Lizards can still bite, they can no longer use their tentacles to grab the Watcher), and resistance to being stunned after consuming a decayed variant of any fruit.

Tips & Advices
The Weaver can only be encountered once per cycle, even though other areas may appear to contain its presence. Also, entering a region marked with a golden feather on the hibernation map does not mean the Weaver is immediately present. First, you must locate the warp sealed by golden silk and remain in that room for a short time. Once this is done, you will see blue threads in the Ripplespace extending to nearby rooms—a sign that it has been summoned.

Whenever the Weaver is sealing a warp, it is considered present in both regions affected by the warp portal. However, as mentioned before, the Weaver can only be encountered once per cycle. Additionally, the Weaver has at least two spawn points in almost all regions, allowing the player to reach any of them where the Weaver will be waiting.

The Chose
To obtain this ending, you must first complete all three previous endings within the same save file, and then travel to a special chamber within Daemon. (Keep in mind that the Prince Ending cannot be obtained if you have already unlocked the Weaver Skill.)
The Watcher: Farewell
Thanks for watching this guide so far! If you notice any errors or mistakes, please let me know in the comments so I can update it in the future. I’d also like to thank Henpemaz, Dua, Juliacat, and Alduris for their fantastic map guide, which helped me a lot during the development of this guide — and of course, the Rain World community for helping me gather all this information.

Please check out Videocult’s other DLC, Downpour — I can assure you, it won’t disappoint!
And with nothing else to say, I wish you a wonderful day slugcats, rest safe in your shelters!

Hmm, not sure how to respond without spoiling anything. Just play and you’ll see — or perhaps watch? OAOAOAOA!! (Yeah… not my proudest moment.)

Thanks for the advice, can i have the mark too ?
Takomaru  [author] 19 Oct @ 1:44pm
So you already got the Spinning Top and Prince endings? You can do Weaver freely without risking a softlock. However (SPOILER): The Prince will not wake up from its comatose state, because that stage itself is considered “Awakened.”

I have the 1rd and 2nd ending. If i do weaver quest the prince will wake up ?

Huh, alright! I suppose I'll keep exploring Aether Ridge :p

You’re probably referring to Daemon Entrance . Don’t worry—it’s for a skill you’ll gain later in the game. For now, just ignore them and find some echoes!

Just started The Watcher, what's with the purple circles with question marks on the map? I go there and I don't see anything I could do with it so far

Thanks! It took me a while to finish it, since I had to replay the game about four times and verify some of the mechanics and overall strategies myself. In fact, this guide was originally meant to remind me what to do! However, if you find any inconsistencies, please let me know =3=

Good guide! I especially like the region reference tables.
