Description
It's Morphin Time!

Tommy Oliver from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (aka Dragonranger from Super Sentai or "the guy from Fortnite") is here and he is ready to take on all comers, after he morphs into his suit of course!

Tommy is a semi-rushdown focused fighter whose moveset is based on his appearance in the fighting game Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid but he also has a few moves that he didn't have in that game in order to help translate his moveset across to a platform fighter, some moves pulled directly from the show as well as a gimmick completely original to Rivals. He is designed to be simple to pick up and play with a bit of complexity to the gimmick should you wish for that sort of thing.

Gimmick: Power Charges

Tommy's gimmick takes in the lightningbolt motif of the Power Rangers series and uses it as part of the moveset. Channeling the power of the Morphing Grid will allow Tommy to hold up to three charges at any one time, then the last hit in every individual normal as well as both hits of FSpecial will transfer charges across to the opponent in the form of lightning bolt markers. Once the opponent has three markers, the next hit will temporarily stun them. Think of this as like a combination of Ranno Poison Markers that build up Clairen Plasma Stun.

Neutral Special: Dragon Thunder

Tommy charges up a ball of energy in his hands before unleashing it towards the opponent, this is a hard hitting projectile which also has the potential to transfer charges across to the opponent. Its good for some potential mixup and gives Tommy an option to pressure the opponent and keep them guessing on whether he is going to approach or not.

Forward Special: Dragon Drop/Dragon Dive

Tommy quickly lunges forward and downwards with his feet first. Unlike other forward dives of this type however, this one has a twist. On contact, Tommy will do a backflip and then immediately dive again, this time with the dagger facing towards the opponent. The first hit will pop the opponent up for the second hit to deal better knockback and damage. Starting this move on the ground will see Tommy leap into the air before the first attack comes out. Unlike the rest of Tommy's kit, both hits here will turn power charges into bolt markers.

Up Special: Teleport

Taken straight from the show, Tommy can harness technology from the Command Centre to turn into a ball of lightning and fly for a short time. It basically behaves the same way as Zetterburn's USpecial except you are restricted to directions that travel upwards only. The last hit is the one that applies power charges to the opponent.

Down Special: Power Charge

Tommy starts harnessing energy from the Morphing Grid and starts using it to charge his suit. When he reaches three charges or when you let go of the Special button he will exit the move. This move essentially functions like Cloud Limit Break from Smash, but there is a slight twist to it. While Tommy has at least one charge, then during the charge portion he has super armour. However, hitting Tommy while he has super armour will break his focus, knock him sideways, cause him to lose all charges and create a portal to the Morphing Grid which will rip open in reality onto the stage. It will travel in the direction of the opponent that hit Tommy.

If the opponent is standing in the morphing grid then they will get static energy surrounding them which overtime will turn into a lightning bolt marker, acting as an alternative way for Tommy to be able to secure the stun effect.

Final Smash: Dragonzord Summon

You knew this had to be in here somewhere! Tommy puts his dagger to his head and starts playing it like a flute. After playing the tune he will summon the Dragonzord, which will then launch its tail from offscreen towards the nearest opponent it can find. After hitting multiple times the Dragonzord will then fire a bunch of missiles from its fingers high in the sky which act as a finishing move to this Final Smash.

Other notable moves:

Tommy's Dtilt is jump cancellable on hit
DStrong is a reference to Green with Evil where Tommy stabs the sword of darkness into the ground to create a chain of explosions.
Dair is a stall and fall move which is styled after the kick move from Power Rangers Rita's Rewind

Hope you enjoy this character, Power Rangers was the first show I ever got really invested in and I've been wanting to bring one to the Workshop for some time now. There's also a secret feature of this mod but I will leave that for people to find.

Be sure to turn on voicelines for the authentic Power Rangers experience. And if you want to fight against him then he has a Custom CPU.

I want to give thanks to the following people:
Playtesting: ATalksToSelf, DoomyWoomy
Trailer Artwork reaction images: naur
Secret feature assistance: DoomyWoomy
All of ExW for feedback while he was in development
Soka and CurtDog for featuring the character's trailer in Workshop Blueprints Purity

Power Rangers is owned by Hasbro

This mod is a tribute to the late Jason David Frank, whose voice is used in this mod via his voicelines from Battle for the Grid. RIP to my childhood hero.

It feels like his jab combo is a little too tight at most percentages.
