I didn't have a problem for this particular game, but sometimes, if you're trying to copy save files, it may all be for naught if the Steam Cloud auto-backup undoes your work; I recommend disabling the steam cloud before moving save files. You can always turn it back on afterwards.

To do this, right click on the game in your library and select "Properties..."



Then, in the general tab, deactive the option under the "Steam Cloud" section.


And of course: back-up any of your own save files before you copy over them.

First off, make sure you've started the game at least once, for the folder to exist.

The save file folder for Windows is pretty simple for this one:

%UserProfile%\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY TACTICS - The Ivalice Chronicles\Steam\

Popping that into Windows Explorer should take you a folder with a numbered folder for every Steam account that has started Final Fantasy Tactics from the Steam launcher. The number does not seem to be the Steam ID like many other games use; maybe it's sequentially generated. Anyway, if you only use one account, there should only be one folder. I had two for the example below because I tested it with another family member's Steam account:


In that folder, there are probably 4 files, maybe 3 if you have Steam Cloud Saves disabled, and maybe more if there was an error or game crash (I had an autoenhanced (1).png that seemed to be a file from a few days ago). Anyway, the files you need are either enhanced.png, autoenhanced.png, or both, depending on what you want.


enhanced.png contains regular save files, made by saving in the menu.
autoenhanced.png contains autosave files made every time you move on the map and during battles.

There are two sets: I realized part way through Chapter 4 that you can only make 50 saves, and I was saving after every story battle (I missed a few, but the main eventful ones are all there) so that there would be lots of options to load from in case anyone was interested.


As such, the main folder enhanced.png and autoenhanced.png contain save files from the end of the game; loading the auto enhanced would set the most recent save (if you select "Continue" on the main page) to start in a cleared file after beating the game (a nice touch in the enhanced edition) and would immediately pop all of the games achievements (tested on another family member's account).

With that autoenhanced.jpg file, you also choose to load an autosave from the very end of the final boss fight and just enjoy the ending (rather than watching parts in the Chronicles section).

The folder "Older Saves" includes the files from every battle in Chapters 1, 2 and 3, with a few extra when I got a specific achievement (although like I said, they'll all pop if you load a save file near the end).

Note that I uploaded these in case they help someone for whatever reason (glitch, missing one errand, too annoyed to get Zodiark or Ultima, played on the Classic Edition, etc)., but I recommend playing through the game to get achievements; it's a really excellent remaster of one of my favourite video games. That being said, do what you will with these files.

Hopefully this helps you in either backing up your save files, going to a favourite story moment or getting that one last nagging achievement! All files should unlock achievements as I've noted, I tested them on another Steam account in my family (and someday someone will notice and wonder how they 100%ed this game in 2 minutes!).
