Things FFXIV Doesn’t Tell You - Hidden Tips & Insights (Beginner)
Description:
A simple collection of useful tips, tricks, and hidden features in Final Fantasy XIV that most players miss. This guide is spoiler-free and focused on helping both new and returning players discover quality-of-life tricks, hidden mechanics, and small things the game never explains well.

1. Quality of Life and UI Tips
    • Customize your hotbars for each job. Save gear sets to instantly swap between classes.
    • Adjust UI scale and window layouts for clarity. A clear HUD helps in dungeons and raids.
    • Use macros for common actions, such as marking targets or combining abilities.
    • Collapse or hide menus you don’t need to declutter your screen.

2. Combat and Mechanics
    • Learn the difference between GCD (global cooldown) and oGCD (off-global cooldown). Weave oGCD skills between GCD actions.
    • Positionals matter. Some melee abilities deal more damage from the rear or flank.
    • Buffs and debuffs often "snapshot" when applied. Timing skills inside party buffs increases your output.
    • Do not forget role actions. Every role has shared abilities that are critical for survival.

3. Job and Class Secrets
    • Always complete your class and job quests. They unlock important skills and role mechanics.
    • Some skills are gated behind specific levels or quests and are easy to miss if you skip them.
    • DPS jobs benefit from "openers" (burst rotations) before settling into sustained combat.
    • Crafters and gatherers share many abilities across classes. Unlock multiple to get the best toolkit.

4. Crafting, Gathering, and the Economy
    • Retainers are not just storage. Send them on ventures and use them to sell items on the market board.
    • Always compare market board prices before listing. Check demand and avoid flooding the market.
    • Some quests accept crafted or gathered items repeatedly for large XP gains.
    • Use lower grade materials when appropriate. Do not always waste rare mats unless necessary.

5. Multiplayer and Social Tips
    • Communication is key. Use party chat or markers in dungeons and trials.
    • Tanks should lead pulls and mark kill orders.
    • Healers should use cooldowns proactively, not only reactively.
    • Do not be afraid to ask questions. Many players are happy to explain mechanics.

6. Mindset and Exploration
    • Read tooltips carefully. Many important details are hidden in ability descriptions.
    • Try multiple jobs. You can play every role on one character, so experiment.
    • Take breaks and enjoy the game at your own pace.
    • Do not sell every item immediately. Many materials have later uses.

    7. Closing Notes
There are many more tips and secrets in FFXIV, but this should give you a strong foundation of things the game never clearly tells you.

Sage (Barrier Healer) Basic Guide (Patch 7.3)
Description:
Learn the basics of Sage in FFXIV! Covers gauges, healing tools, DPS rotation, dungeon tips, and gearing. Perfect for new healers or players trying Sage for the first time.

Overview
Role: Barrier Healer with strong free healing via Kardia
Strengths:
 – Free passive healing
 – Flexible cooldowns (none longer than 3 minutes)
 – Has a gap closer (Icarus)
Weaknesses:
 – Weak GCD heals compared to others
 – Harder to recover if mistakes are made
 – No raid-wide party buff

Gauges & Resources
Phlegma – 2 charges, 45s recharge. Main burst damage tool.
Addersgall – 3 charges, 20s recharge. Fuels oGCD heals and restores MP.
Addersting – Up to 3 stacks. Gained when Eukrasian Diagnosis shield breaks, spent on Toxikon.

Core Healing Tools

Kardia
• Place on a party member (usually tank)
• Every offensive GCD heals them
• Can be swapped every 5s

Addersgall oGCD Heals
Kerachole – AoE heal + 10% mitigation, 30s CD
Ixochole – AoE heal, 30s CD
Taurochole – Single target heal + mitigation, 45s CD
Druochole – Single target heal, no CD

Other oGCD / Utility
Physis II – AoE regen + boost to healing, 60s CD
Haima / Panhaima – Single-target / AoE shields
Holos – Heal + shield + mitigation
Philosophia – 3 min raidwide buff, heals with each cast
Icarus – Gap closer
Soteria – Boosts Kardia healing
Zoe – Buffs next GCD heal, best with Pneuma
Pepsis – Converts shields into direct healing
Rhizomata – Instantly gives an Addersgall charge
Krasis – Boosts healing received on target

GCD Heals
Diagnosis / Eukrasia Diagnosis – Single target heal (shield with Eukrasia)
Prognosis / Eukrasia Prognosis – AoE heal (shield with Eukrasia)
• Use GCD heals only when oGCDs aren’t enough

Damage & Rotation
• Keep DoT active at all times
Dosis is your filler spell
• Use Phlegma during raid buffs, don’t overcap charges
Toxikon – Instant cast DPS, spend Addersting wisely
Pneuma – Damage + AoE heal, use when group healing is needed
Psyche – AoE heal, about once per minute

Dungeon / Leveling Tips
• Always keep Kardia on the tank
• Use Dyskrasia for AoE on trash packs
• Pre-pull with Eukrasian Diagnosis to gain Addersting stacks
• Prioritize oGCD heals, save GCD heals for emergencies

Gearing & Stats
Priority: Critical Hit > Determination > Direct Hit
• Spell Speed is less important
• Little to no Piety needed (Sage has strong MP economy)
Machinist Basic Guide (Patch 7.3)
Description
Machinist is a fast-paced ranged physical DPS with strong burst potential and free movement. It uses a dual gauge system (Heat + Battery) and flexible burst windows to align with raid buffs.
Your goal: avoid overcapping gauges, manage cooldowns, and deliver burst during buffs.

Gauges & Core Systems

Heat & Battery Gauges
Heat: used for Hypercharge (costs 50 Heat).
Battery: used for summoning your Automaton Queen.
• Must accrue 50 in a gauge to use its respective ability.
• Avoid overcapping either gauge.

Two-Minute Loop & Rotational Philosophy
• The rotation is built around two-minute windows, often starting/ending with Wildfire.
• Between burst windows: use your combo GCDs (Heated Split Shot → Heated Slug Shot → Heated Clean Shot) to build gauge and maintain uptime.
• Use tools (Drill, Chain Saw, Air Anchor, Excavator, Full Metal Field) as soon as available, while balancing gauge use.

Battery Usage & Queen Summons
• Opener uses Queen as soon as 60 Battery.
• The “one-minute” Queen is used at ~90 Battery to help align the “two-minute” Queen summon after Air Anchor.
• Because of extra Battery gain from Excavator, you’ll often need to split battery usage across two Queens rather than one.
• Queen potency scales linearly with Battery at summon. Use as much Battery as possible without waste.

Variations, Ping, & <2.50 GCD Considerations
• If your GCD is faster than 2.50, you may need to adjust your rotation (don’t clip, shift tools).
• Wildfire & Drill no longer scale with skill speed; they might misalign with your GCD cycle. Handle this by adding filler GCDs or shifting placements.
• For high latency (“clipping”):
 – Use wired connections, lower graphics, or gaming VPNs.
 – Adjust rotation to reduce double Hypercharge windows or overly strict weaving.

Multi-Target / AoE Strategy
Filler GCDs:
 – On 1–2 targets: use Heated Combo GCD
 – On 3+ targets: use Scattergun
Hypercharge GCD:
 – Use Blazing Shot on smaller target counts
 – Use Auto Crossbow when many or some are out of range
Flamethrower: effective when ≥2 targets or when gauge is unavailable (but don’t override stronger cooldowns)
Bioblaster: useful in specific AoE windows (beats Drill on 3+, Air Anchor on 4+, but never beats Chain Saw/Excavator)

Gearing & Stat Priorities
• Stat priority: Weapon Damage > Dexterity > Critical Hit > Determination > Direct Hit > Skill Speed
• Determination is ranked above Direct Hit because both Reassemble and Wildfire scale with Determination, and Direct Hit contributes less in those contexts.
• Use the highest grade Dexterity potions available.
• Food, melds, and gearing details follow the same priority above.
