Oh your in your ship that explains a lot. Well I hope you find someplace to land to either get some stone or wood to make shelves then either way best of luck on your in game travels.

Brought too many rations to the ship and didn't have time to make shelves yet.

Are you not using shelves? You can store more stuff using them or maybe you just don't want to use them if so fair enough. I hope you managed to keep yourself well stocks.
