I have found an easy fix for the bug that can occur on so many players' playthroughs.

Many players got the bug; the game is not responding, the menu freezes, and Alt+Tab gives just a temporary fix.

I've played the whole main story and the both Burial at Sea episodes and had never had this problem until I started the CtiC Blue Ribbon Challenges. When I got to the last 4 waves of Emporia Arcade, this bug appeared. It was constant, replaying over and over again the whole path of waves without problems, until wave 11, which was extremely frustrating, especially considering the hardness and time-consumption of those challenges.
From what I've learned, you can get this bug almost anywhere in the game.

Below is what helped me to fix this issue.

Fix

Step 1: First of all, launch the game and go to Options > Graphics.

Find the Postprocessing option and change it to Alternate, as on the screenshot below.

Step 2: Make sure you have a locked frame rate.

Step 3: Close your game; in Windows 10/11, click on your background wallpaper with a right click and go to Display settings > Advanced display settings and select 120 Hz.

If you have a monitor with a fresh rate lower than 120 Hz, you can skip this and try if it has already fixed your problem, but if you have more than 120 Hz, you have to lower your screen refresh rate to 120 Hz or below.
You can also lower the fresh rate specifically for Bioshock in your gpu driver settings.
