Not only is it in the [Moon Lord] (treasure bag) group, which is mostly comprised of celestial weapons, Meowmere is an average of 200 DMG per slash and 250 DMG per projectile.
This means it is strong enough to be able to handle any enemy.
And with its impressive Base Stats for Knockback and access to [very fast] Speed, you can be rough with it.

Due to its mostly Luminite based material, there’s no doubt in my mind that an awakened Meowmere (with {Legendary} attribute) would be incredibly powerful, so powerful that you could easily fight with one for hours without getting overpowered.

It can also use the moves Rainbow, Cat, Meow, Gravity, and Explode, along with not having limited projectile range, so it’d be incredibly easy for one to make you win.
And with its ranged abilities Pierce and Ricochet, your flying cats can easily recover from momentum with enough bounce.
No other Sword comes close to this level of compatibility.

Also, fun fact, if you slash enemies enough, you can make your Meowmere turn red.
Or green.
Or blue.
Any color, really.
