Hello everyone,
yesterday I ran into a problem with Borderlands GOTY Enhanced — severe stuttering both in the menu and during gameplay (interestingly, I didn’t have this issue on my main PC). I turned on the FPS counter and noticed it never goes above 30, as if there’s some sort of frame cap.

I tried the usual advice from other guides, editing the .ini config files, but that didn’t help at all.
The actual solution turned out to be switching the game from DX9 to Vulkan. Since I couldn’t find any guide that explains this method, I decided to write it down here 🙂


1. First, you need to download DXVK. Here’s the link: Download DXVK[github.com]
Get the latest release (for me it was dxvk-2.7.1.tar.gz).

2. Open the archive (dxvk-2.7.1.tar.gz) and extract the folders x32 and x64 for convenience.

3. Go to your game’s installation folder.
If you don’t know how: in your Steam Library → right click the game → Properties → Installed Files → Browse.
The path should look like this:

\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\BorderlandsGOTYEnhanced


Then go into Binaries, and inside you should see either Win64 (sometimes it’s Win32). Perfect — this is the folder with the game’s executable.

4. Now, if your folder is Win64, copy all the .dll files from the x64 folder (from step 2) into it.
(Important: if your folder is Win32, then copy the .dll files from the x32 folder instead.)

5. That’s it! Launch the game and check — the 30 FPS cap should be gone.
