Getting the Game working on Linux or Steam Deck
By Kobun42
Because Valve's phobia of the number three prevents them from getting this game working despite how simple it is to fix.

Part 1: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ valve
So, you either switched to Linux (or have always been a Linux user) or are using a Steam Deck -- but what's THIS? FUGA 3 doesn't work according to Valve! How are you supposed to watch children subject themselves to the horrors of war for the THIRD time now?

Well, as it turns out, Valve couldn't be arsed to add one simple thing to the configuration of this game, so it doesn't work when it's perfectly capable of doing so on Linux. This guide should hopefully address that.
Part 2: doing what Valve can't do
It's entirely possible Valve hasn't fixed this game because of their phobia of the number three. So let's do this so they don't have to!

1. Open protontricks. If you don't have this, something is wrong with you because you're going to NEED this thing for a few games because, who would've thought, Linux does NOT come preinstalled with a bunch of proprietary Microsoft stuff (though on the plus side that means no Copilot, Edge, or whatever other pointless monopolistic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, bloatware, and telemetry they try to shove down your throat this time because they got off easy with the Internet Explorer lawsuit)
2. Select FUGA 3 and select "Select the default wineprefix"
3. Select "Change settings" and select either the "win10" or "win11" option (I chose win10 but either one will work -- do not select both). This will be necessary for what we're going to do next. [You will not need to repeat this step in the event you need to install another component or repair the install]
4. Now select "Install a Windows DLL or component"
5. select "vcrun2022" and wait for the Visual C++ Runtime 2015-2022 installer to open.
6. Install it like you would on windows. If an error occurs, try again (If you are prompted to repair the install, do so.)
7. Try the game. It should work now.

NOTE: If when playing the game, the entire window isn't being used, change the screen resolution to something bigger/smaller and then switch back to your desired resolution. This solution was tested on bazzite and it works, your mileage may vary but I'm sure it'll work for most other distros.
Part 3: you did it
if it didn't work yell at me
but if it did you are now obligated to give me ALL of your steam points
now you can happily watch the children DIE on Linux or the Steam Deck.
