How to PROPERLY install Unification Mod for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Definitive Edition
By 9Days
The other guides and YouTube tutorials just don't work.... this one will actually get your mod running in DE because I pretty much experienced all the issues while following other tutorials and managed to figure it out while documenting the process here

This version of the guide is pre-compatibility patch for the mod for Definitive Edition but I will update the steps when it gets released by the mod team

Download the Unification Mod
Here is the ModDB link to download Unification version: 7.3.6: https://www.moddb.com/mods/unification-mod-dawn-of-war-soulstorm/downloads/unification-v736

It's over 18GB and the download speeds are pretty slow so it might take a while, you only need this file as this guide is for a manual installation of the mod
Installing The Mod Correctly
Step 1) Extract the downloaded Unification.7z file, location doesn't matter (downloads folder is fine)

Using 7-Zip to extract it is ideal and you should be using 7-Zip anyway, Windows default extraction isn't the best and can't really handle .7z files anyway. You can download 7-Zip from here: https://www.7-zip.org/download.html

After installing 7-Zip, simply right click the Unification.7z file and select 7-Zip > Extract to "Unification\"

Step 2) The extracted contents should look like this, copy all these files

Step 3) Open your Definitive Edition game directory which should have a file path similar to this: DriveLetter:\Steam\steamapps\common\Dawn of War Definitive Edition

You can get directly to it by right clicking your game in the Library and selecting Properties. From the Properties window select Installed Files and click Browse to open your directory:

After opening the game directory, paste in the copied files from your extracted download

Step 4) Once the data has copied over, open the DXP2 folder within your directory and copy the Movies folder:

Go back to your game directory > open the new Unification folder and paste the Movies folder from DXP2 to copy the files into your Unification mod

That's the install done!
Launching The Mod
Open the game from Steam like normal and click Mods from the main menu:

You should see the Unification Mod available to launch from the mods list, select it and click Activate

The game should then load and you're good to go
Things To Note
This is the Soulstorm version of the mod installed into Definitive Edition so there are some bugs like not being able to scroll left or right at the moment. You can get around this by holding Middle Mouse to move or Shift+WASD

The mod team are working on a compatibility patch which will fix these issues, follow the updates on the discord server: https://discord.gg/unification

Once the patch is released, I'll update this guide with those steps as well. The mod is playable in the current version but you may experience bugs like the above

Did you make sure to copy the Engine folder from the mod files into your game?

I followed the steps but when I go into the army paint it only shows 4 modded armies and they are all stating $(a bunch of numbers different for each one) No key. Anyone know whats goin on with it?

No worries, this is just the main mod excluding the campaigns add on but once they release the next version I’ll update this guide to include campaigns as well

Shouldn’t be far away from what the team have said in discord

Will this work for the campaigns as well? Thank you for putting this together.

Not that I'm aware of no, you may be able to ask Team Unification in their discord I linked above but I'm pretty sure that's where they host it exclusively

Ummm... sorry, ModDB is not an option for me at all, I've used their site before with unwelcome results. Is there another site to get this from?
