INTRODUCTION!
Welcome, adventurers, to my guide on the Tower of Oannes DLC for La-Mulana 2! The sequel's equivalent to the Hell Temple finally arrived, now focused on a long-lost tower that was home to the enigmatic aquatic fiends of the Fourth Children. Huh, funny how they weren't around in this game much, right?

This is, by nature, going to be a pretty spoiler-heavy walkthrough, but I'll be doing my best to give hints before I give outright answers. If you see (STORY spoiler) inside, that means there's non-gameplay spoilers inside, but if you see (HINT) or (PUZZLE spoiler) in front of a black box, be warned that it might give the game away a bit. And part of the fun outside of the heavy execution challenge is finding out the solution yourself.

My purpose in this guide is not to give you an exhaustive list of all the traps, tricks or enemies you will face during the Tower of Oannes, but to be more of a reference guide in case you find yourself stuck in a certain room, or a certain puzzle, or a certain fight. Most of the fun of these games is finding out the bullcrap they throw at you, and I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise by warning you of every crushing fist, every trapped explosive and every deadfall spike pit.

So, hopefully, this can help nudge you along in the proper directions, and allow you to find the Secret Power of the Fourth Children! Now let's get to it!
Wait, how do I even Start?
So, you just bought the Tower of Oannes DLC! Maybe even noticed a few Xelputter messages that weren't in the base game, namely this one:

This is your DLC check, and are a nice little reminder that you have the Tower of Oannes DLC installed! You can even go check out the Spring in the Sky, which is now open in the same place it used to be (Go to the Gate of Guidance, head as far right as you can go).

But, we're not quite there yet. To actually get to the Tower, you need to do a couple things first:

1)The Eg-Lana Ruins MUST be in Ragnarok, the end-game state of the ruins, which requires defeating all eight Guardians and sealing the Corridor of Blood. Once those are done, go and fight Heimdall in Annwfn. Once he dies, he'll blow on the Gjallarhorn and call on Ragnarok, which makes the ruins all red and sparky.

2) It's also a good idea to head down to the Immortal Battlefield D-3, head to the Altar Gate, and snag yourself the Secret Treasure of Life.

2) You need to make sure to have SOMA in your inventory, which can be gained from solving the Chalice Puzzle in Divine Fortress. You can check this by looking at your Vessel in the Inventory.

Once you've checked off all these boxes, it's time to start! You'll receive a special message from Elder Xelpud, which will be your signal that the tower can be accessed. (STORY Spoiler)

But where do we go first? (PUZZLE Spoiler) Well, let's head back to Step One:

At (PUZZLE Spoiler) Annwfn C-5 where you fought Heimdall, you should notice that there's now a ladder where there wasn't before. This is our first clue, and our first meeting!

This is (Story Spoiler) King Gyonin, Lord of the 4th Children, Head Priest of the Godless Fish, and he gives you your first step towards proving yourself worthy of the Tower of Oannes:

Kill yourself, lol.

Well, let's take care of that real quick.
Finding Eden, and the Four Trials
So a blobfish just told us to Keep Ourselves Safe. Thanks, Gyonin King, very cool.

He also gives us a (HINT) about where to go next for our clue. Left in the Underworld. Which, while it might not be called that, we've been there before.

So, for a (PUZZLE spoiler), if you head to Eternal Prison - Doom, and make it all the way to C-1, you'll find a new tablet waiting for you:

So, we gotta find Ixtab. But we fought and killed her already, back in Annwfn.

Let's go talk to the Undead, then. (PUZZLE Spoiler) Head over to Annwfn E-4 and Ixtab will be right there waiting for you. Time to indulge the fish.

Well, we're dead. Looks about normal. Except...(HINT) Look very closely at the bottom of your screen.

That's right, Ixtab is leading you to Paradise. Choose the ??? option and wake up.

You made it to Eden! And Gyonin is here too!

You'll find Four tablets around the area (You can climb inside the Flower Vases like ladders) and a big tablet in the center telling you to solve the Four Riddles. Gyonin tells you to head back to Eg-Lana and do your job. But how do you get out of Eden?

Look at your items and see if you have anything that can revive the dead.

Take the SOMA and you'll end up at the Village again, with an empty vessel and a Mission. Time for the Four Trials.

MISSION 1: The Field of Flowers

Where can we find a Field of flowers, specifically talking about a balding man? That's right, back at the Village. Head back up to Xelpud, but he's got nothing. We want to head to the Field right next to his Castle. You remember this place, back when we first started the game?

Kneel down in Prayer. Crouch Down at the bush dead in the middle, and you'll meet some old friends and find a familiar statue. Smash that sucker and get your first Fishy Crest.

MISSION 2: The Useless Trap and Useless Mantra

There have been a LOT of traps in Eg-Lana, but few of them are really that worthless. Except for one that does no damage, doesn't impede your progress, and can go completely unnoticed. HINT We're looking specifically in Ancient Chaos

(PUZZLE Spoiler) One room Right from the Grail Point, you'll see a jar next to a wall. Jump on the jar, crouch down, and walk through. You can get out of this trap by kneeling down to climb the ladder out. Truly, useless.

Now we've found the place, we need the right words. Unlike the first game, Mantra are really important in La-Mulana 2, used from early on all the way to the endgame. But what mantra was never used in a puzzle? (HINT) It involves talking to Alviss in Immortal Battlefield while the Lamp of Time is Active to see the Secondary Meanings.

(PUZZLE Spoiler) You're looking for the 'Tremor' Mantra, which is on the 'EIDR' or 'Fire' Mantra. Chant it, and you'll get Fishy Crest Two.

MISSION 3: The Four Fish NOTE: You must do this one, specifically, before Mission 4.

Time to go for a swim!

We need to find Four Fish that have been scattered across the Ruins, in places where Fish can Swim. That's a lot of water, though.

PUZZLE Spoiler, You want Annwfn F-2 where you fought Kujata, Icefire Treetop F-4 at the bottom of the right-side elevator shaft, Ancient Chaos C-6 in the lava pool blocking a door, and Valhalla D-4 in the water tunnel from C-4. You'll get a glossary notification when you pick up each one, and your third Fishy Crest.

MISSION 4: The Useless Man.

Quiz time! Who was totally useless and did absolutely nothing in the game worth note, someone so forgettable and pointless that you probably missed their Glossary page when you were collecting them for the costume chest key?

That's right, it's EROS, in Heaven's Labyrinth A-3.

PUZZLE Spoiler He wants a Drink in exchange for his time.Grab some Sacred Wine from Spring of the Frost Giants and get him drunk, and then He'll ask for some snacks, preferably something with fish. But how do you even get that?

HINT Do you remember the little pause animation from the first game, where Lemeza would eat some Curry and fall asleep? Lumisa has some too, but she hates curry.

PUZZLE Spoiler Pause the game on the Grail/Message screen until Lumisa sets up her three Nigiri, and then unpause and head inside for your last Fishy Crest.

With the last puzzle out of the way, we've completed all of our Trials. It's been a while, so make sure to save and not lose your progress. But if we head back to Annwfn, Gyonin is nowhere to be found. HINT Because he's not in Annwfn, he's in Eden. Stock up on SOMA and head back to Ixtab.

Welcome back. Head up to the Large Plaque in the Center and receive your reward!

Gyonin shows up to congratulate you, and tells you that you now have to travel to his home. Jerk Fish.

Use your SOMA, head back to the Village, Save, and now head into La-Mulana ruins. Let's check out the Spring in the Sky.

This is a tough jumping puzzle, but if you've made it this far, you should be able to make it all the way to the top. And waiting there, finally, is your key into the Tower of Oannes. Now the Real Trial Begins!
The Tower of Oannes Part One: Weights and Floats
You made it to the Tower of Oannes. Are you in love with a Fish?

First thing, Scan the Prayer Altar. Not only do they serve as checkpoints but you can also warp out at any time. A MASSIVE NOTE HERE: Any puzzle progress you make during the climb will be saved if you warp out. Unlike Hell Temple One, this game won't reset your progress if you end up falling out of an area or taking a break to save. SO SAVE! Take breaks and make your way up the Tower of Oannes! Also, the water here is a Hot Spring, so if you ever run low on health, come on back and rest.

You can also turn off your Map App, Mantra App and others, and focus solely on support Apps for this tower. Make sure to come loaded with items, too, as some puzzles will require certain weapons, and some rooms benefit from having tools to help out with enemies. But keep Future Development Company on, as the Prayer Altars are Back-Side grail points, and you can't warp to them without it.

Welcome to the First Room! This is your pace-setter for the tower, and gives you a good idea of what to expect on the Climb. Move fast, hit hard, and find those pedestals!

However, you might notice something a bit fishy about this place.

NOTE Isn't it strange that the Pedestals seem to...not give you the proper noise? That's because there are Fakes. Lots, and Lots, and LOTS of fake pedestals, designed to eat your weights and drive you mad.

So, for each floor of the tower, you will need to find Four True Pedestals that make the Shell Horn noise when used.

Also, on the right side there is an exit to the Bailey, don't worry about that for now.

MAJOR PUZZLE SPOILERS! If you REALLY want to know which pedestals are which, or if you are missing one, Here's the following vague Solutions:

Pedestal One is delivered to you upon the hands of the Gyozo. Be patient and ride across. Until you can't.
Pedestal Two is among the Four Valleys
One is Directly Underneath the Door
And One is Protected by The Boss Himself

If you mess up a puzzle, you can always warp to the prayer altar as well.

Once you've completed your trials, then it's on to the next room.

ROOM TWO: PACHINKO!

Welcome to platforming hell.

Once again, even more Pedestals and puzzles! But now, we have to deal with these hard corner slides. If you touch one of these, you'll careen off down to the bottom. Or into the open jaws of a crushing bumper. There is a second Prayer Altar At the Top of the Ladder on the Left Side, so make sure to Pray to Fish to save your progress.

MAJOR PUZZLE SPOILERS For Room Two:

The First Pedestal has the Upper Hand.
You can see Pedestal #2 from the first, but you can't reach it from the Left Side. Gotta go Around.
Pedestal Three is a leap of faith, lined up along the Fish Statues
You can see Pedestal 4 from Pedestal 3, another Leap of Faith. Drop the Weight then warp out, or you might get crushed.

Ladder Cleared! Onto the Next Room! Be careful not to fall. Or do, if you want to head back to the health spring to heal up.

ROOM 3: KEEP ROLLIN ROLLIN ROLLIN ROLLIN

What?

This room is simple and narrow, but there's a lot of ball beetles here to mess with you. Make your way up, place a weight upon the dais, hear that lovely sound!

And wonder Why the path is blocked?

Because the weight wasn't for there, silly! It's time for some backtracking! Do you remember anywhere with an out-of-reach ladder?

HINT Head back to the Prayer Altar on Room Two and think about your actions.

PUZZLE Look at the Left Side of the room.

Diversion Time!

DIVERSION 1: HOT LEGS!

Head into the room to trigger Two Lights of Death, that move back and forth.

Your goal here is to Destroy all the Enemies, so break out the flares and start shooting. Each enemy takes about three, but sometimes they overlap. Once that's done, climb on up and head to the next room!

Diversion 2: A normal room.

Just get to the top! Simple!

HINT Two ways to do this. First one, bait out the Big Fist, then Jump On it to get to the top. Second is to take the ladders to just below the top platform, activate your Lamp of Time climb up, and walk past the trap.

DIVERSION 3: EVIL FISH!

Time for A Boss Fight!

This fight is actually fairly easy. I use the Katana to swing upwards, but Axe also does work against him. Jump after his downswing, watch for his kick, and jump over him when he bends forward to charge. He goes down like a chump.

Once he's done, warp back to the Prayer Altar or village to heal, and head back up to Room Three! You can now advance!

ROOM FOUR: GYONIN-22 ACTION!

If you didn't know it before, these stone ship dudes can insta-kill you by crushing you against the wall. Don't let it happen. Chain Whip can destroy in three hits, and reaches overhead enough to hit through the floor. Earth Spears also do well to keep you out of crushing range. Make your way upwards, to the top-right of the room to advance.

ROOM FIVE: PRAYER!

Be quick about it. There is a chance that a crusher trap comes down if you take too long. Scan and run. Grab the Gyonin King glossary page from the corner, then head up the ladder.

ROOM SIX: No trick, we just hate you here.

Head on up carefully.

ROOM SEVEN: GYONIN'S CHALLENGE PART TWO!

He's not happy you actually made it to the top, and so Gyonin King challenges you to the Second Fight, SLIME KING ZERO!

You can face-tank this dude. Walk into the slime where he's hiding, chain-whip him to death. No spoilers here, because he doesn't even deserve it. I dislike you immensely, Gyonin King.

And once you're done...that's the top of the tower. No more ladders upwards, no more tricks. He just abandons you.

Where do we go now?
Part Two: SURPRISE!
So he just up and left us. But we aren't done here yet!

Head back down the way you came, make sure to save, and reach ROOM FIVE: GYONIN-22 ACTION again! It's time to go looking for secrets!

Specifically, We're looking for a Door that has appeared where none was before.

PUZZLE Right side wall, about midway down, you'll find it.

And now we'll be at the Top of the Tower, outside, on the Bailey. Where to go from here? We could drop down, but that brings us to the bottom of the Tower again. We could check the other doors, but they are the same ones we used to get in here in the first place.

HINT It's time for a leap of Faith.

PUZZLE At the Very Top of the Tower, head to the back wall, equip the Gale Fibula, and jump at the last possible moment to carry you over to the Cliff.

That's right, it's time for the Second Half of the Tower of Oannes. Or, more accurately, the Second Tower of Oannes! Rest at the Prayer Altar that emerges, and head inside.

TOWER TWO ROOM ONE: SLIDING MAZE

This is the bane of my existence. Not only is this place a deathtrap and the enemies more than happy to help you along into a crushing loss, but we have the return of Pedestal Puzzles! And even if you get down to the Hot Spring Room through the hole, it's not a hot spring. It just poisons you.

Tower Two is punishment. But let's get to it. As soon as you enter, Walk Left. Anything else will either get you crushed or put you in the poison water room.

First Room, once more we have Four pedestals to find. Drop the weight and move, you cannot afford to waste time here or you will get pancake'd. The movement consists of Ten Moves, and then it recycles. You can tell when it's looped when every block points down and moves at the same time in a checkerboard pattern.

MAJOR SPOILERS:

Three are on the sliding blocks themselves, you can see the first one from the entrance. The other is farther right around the middle of the puzzle, and the last is at the top left.
One is in a recess in the middle of the Righthand Wall

I would recommend warping out and scanning the Altar after each one you put down. Once you have all four, head up and to the Right to get to the next area.

T2R2: AT LEAST IT ISN'T SLIDING BLOCK!

But it is more pedestals and trickery.

There is a HINT Prayer Altar Hidden on the Lefthand Side of the room, jump up into the hidden wall and climb up the ladder to reach it. This will allow you to continue in case you need to step out.

MAJOR SPOILERS:
Get in the Pit and be quick
One in the Left Corner
One in the Right Corner
One in a False Drop on the Right Side

Once that's done and the way ahead is clear, I hope that you understand the nature of this room. HINT: There's a recurring theme of mirrors and false walls.

SPOILER: There is another False Wall at the Top, and our Diversion Boss!

SECRET! Crystal Clear:

Time for the Third Boss, who is Impervious to everything! They will also spawn in a ton of enemies to shoot at you constantly, so you better figure out something fast!
HINT What were the weak spots on the last two bosses? Up close, and underneath, right?
SPOILER: Crawl through the lava, jump, and smack that fish up.

Once you've cleared that up, head to the next room.

T2R3: PUSHING ME AROUND

Go on. Take the chest.

Once you're done with that, time to head upwards. There's a Pedestal waiting for you at the top! But if you're confused on how to continue forward, maybe you should head back down. But not too far down. Head to the room that opened up along the righthand wall.

T2R4: REAL BIG FISH

Make Sure to read the tablet in here. Be careful not to get crushed. Make your way up and reach the prayer altar. You can stand on the Statue's Waist and Bust to wait for the Hands to open up, but do not be caught by the hands clapping, it will crush you.

T2R5: Time for a Swim

Make it through the spikes. That's it.

T2R6: Almost Heaven

If you've done everything so far, then you'll see Gyonin King show up. Heed his warning, then listen to his next Steps.

That's Right. We reached the top of the Second Tower, but now we have to backtrack and find the Hidden Rooms. Four of them in Total, spread out throughout the Tower of Oannes. Keep that Clue of his in mind.

Now, it's time for the worst part: Backtracking.
Part Three: Backtracking!
Yep, we gotta do this all over again.

Four Spots to be found, with the only hint being 'knowing our seafood'. So, time to get looking.

OR! Or, I can save you the trouble.

SECRET ROOM ONE: Head back down to Sliding Block, and Head to the recess where the last Pedestal was. Hit the wall with the Clam on it.

PAY ATTENTION to the tablets in this room. And once you are done, make sure to be fast about warping out.

Now, to go a little zig-zag (Trust me on this), it's time to head back to Tower One. We could head up from Spring in the Sky, but there's a faster method. Head back down to Sliding Block, and Reach the top-left of the room. Break the wall to get a quick way back to the Bailey. Make sure to save at the Altar here, and heal at the Spring.

SECRET ROOM TWO: In the Very First Room in Tower One, right above where you enter, break the wall with the Squid.

The platforms here are too tall to reach if you fall, so you'll need to warp out. Hence why I said to pray before you went in. Head to the Top-Left to find the Hidden Ladder and the Seal Room, Jump on the Fish, and make your way up without getting crushed.

SECRET ROOM THREE: Head back to Pachinko, reach the Prayer Altar, and throw Shuriken at the Octopus

This room will need a lot of items. You can use Shuriken or Pistol on the first one, An Earth Spear to break the Second Block in the middle of the room, and then angle a Bomb to hit the Third one.

SECRET ROOM FOUR: Now we head back to the Entrance to the Second Tower, save at the Altar, heal up, and prepare to get furious.

Walk Left before getting crushed by Move 1. Move 2, 3, and 4 will be stuck in place, until the blocks all line up to fall down at once. Equip the Gale Fibula, and once the Third Row block starts lifting up, Run!

You should just hit the other side and have enough time to unequip, duck underneath the false wall, and crawl into the last secret room. The timing is VERY tight here.

Hit that final Seal, Warp out of there, and begin making your way back up the Tower.
Past the Sliding Blocks, Past the Mirror room, Past the Pushing Room, up to the Big Statue Prayer Altar. Pray, Save, and prepare yourself.
Part Four: Fin-Ishing the Fight.
We have all Four Sigils, so it's time to make our way back to the Top of the Tower. Gyonin King congratulates us, gets us a ladder, and warps up top to prepare for the Final Showdown.

Gyonin King prepares his last test for the Power of the Fourth Children. Hit that Ankh and let's get rollin!

Gyonin's Fish Gear Mk. 2 TurboR is an impressive boss, compared to the other fights you've faced so far in the Tower. He's big, does surprisingly heavy damage, and has a wide array of attacks to deal with, including:

- His Spine arm, which can use a Drill, a Laser grid, a Pulse Cannon and a Magnifying Glass Beam, all of which require different spacing to avoid.
-The drill can be avoided by standing off to the side of the first strike and ducking down to avoid the second and third;
- the laser grid shots can be jumped over or avoided entirely by walking between his legs or getting behind the grid before it comes down, letting you get some free hits in;
- the pulse cannon can be ducked under near the barrel;
- and the Glass Beam can be avoided by walking under his legs. You can also get some free hits in here, too.
- His Fish Missiles, which fly out and curve to hit you in the back. Jump over these.
- His Super Sentai Gyoranger squad, which you can whip or rapier to death once they jump out.
- His Jump, which unleashes a row of bombs. Contact with the bombs only does three damage before they explode, so get out before they go boom and chunk your health.

Of course, the weakspot is the fish. Axe, Bombs, Earth Spears, or Pistol (if you have it) when he crouches after landing from a jump to deal the damage to take this fool down.

Once his health gets lower, he'll start shooting out more Missiles, altering his patterns a bit, and overall getting more aggressive.

But once the last blow is dealt, you'll have defeated Gyonin King and the Tower of Oannes! He will give you your Sacred Treasure, and you are free to warp out whenever you like. Like, right now. Before you get the treasure. To save. Remember your Rolling Shuriken here, as they can help out like before.

Finale: Your Reward
SO! Now that you hold the Secret Power of the Fourth Children in your hands...what does it actually DO?

So for the first La-Mulana, the Hidden Treasure of Dracuets did little than change your sprite a bit and give you some art. The Remake gave you the same, but also some new dialog with Mulbruk and Xelpud. It's funny, yeah, but that's about it.

But this is La-Mulana 2, and we do things differently here.

First off, the Sacred Treasure of the 4th Children is a Permanent Upgrade across your save files. That means that if you have a cleared Tower of Oannes file in your save file list, and start a new game, the Sacred Treasure will be in your inventory right from the start.

Second, while you are using the Sacred Treasure, there is a noticeable effect in and around water.

If you take a swim, your speed will no longer be reduced at all. This allows you to clear water areas like the bottom of Immortal Battlefield or Valhalla's water corridor even faster, and allows you to move out of lava faster as well!

Third, NPCs will have new dialog when you're wearing it! Mostly just Xelpud, the Sages and Mulbruk, but it's still a nice little touch.

Finally...you are a Fish.

A large thanks to the "Tower of Oannes entrance?" thread by ManelMaur on Steam for the hints to activate the Tower itself, and AlbinoLive's Tower of Oannes DLC stream video for helping me get past some of the harder to guess puzzles!

And, of course, to NIGORO for creating the game, and you for reading the guide. Now go and experience the Power of Fish.
