Basic information
So, there are 34 items in the game that(in my opinion) fit into the "medicines and boosts" category. I've divided them into 4 subtypes:
Healing items (11 items);
Stimulants (7 items);
Boost items (12 items);
Biome items (4 items);

"Healing items" - medications that remove the corresponding negative effects and sometimes heal you.

"Stimulants" - drugs that simply provide various buffs and don't heal existing injuries. They can affect water values and do NOT regenerate HP.

"Boost items" - the same candies you find in vending machines. They can only be obtained by purchasing them. Don't heal, but have unique effects.

"Biome items" - serums that provide protection from negative biome effects.
Diseases and injuries
Here is a table showing all the debuffs that can be cured with items, along with the corresponding remedies required.

Healing items
Stimulants
Boost items
Biome items

Hope I've helped you figure out with medicaments in such a great game as 7 Days To Die.
Also I'd be very grateful if you and your friends would rate this guide!

Have a nice day!

yes but imho it makes sense to level up this perk only at mid-late game

Raising your Iron Gut perk level increases the length of time that consumable buffs last (10% longer per level).
