How to access the original version of the Complex

This guide is a list of instructions on how to download and access the original version of the game, when it was in Early access prior to the full release version.

Please be aware this guide was not my discovery, I am only sharing it on here because many people keep asking me, there is already a much better guide, that explains it in more detail than me.

1. From your desktop click on the windows start icon then find the option run
2. Type "steam://nav/console"
3. You will notice on your steam overlay if you open it, a new tab appears saying "console" (if not try the command again)
4. Click on the console and you will see an empty box with nothing displayed
5. Type in "download_depot 2172260 2172261 7175120733322222104"
6. Make sure there is plenty of room on your default storage location or the download will fail.
7. Once the game is downloaded go to your library and click add a product then search your downloads folder.
8. Choose the exe of the complex as a Non Steam game and Rename it to whatever you like. (I just call it the complex original XD)
9. Play and enjoy.

Some people like and prefer this version of the game, there is big room at one point after getting off a train and if you walk over the ledge, you can fall off the map and into the abyss its a bit scary.

I think the main game is good just not as good, Personally I prefer the old version, but its still an awesome game I love the complex :)

Accessing the console

Open the steam console from your windows desktop and use it to access the command line interface, you will need this to enter the prompt.

Downloading the original game

Everything must be in lowercase sensitive

Type in the following command: download_depot 2172260 2172261 7175120733322222104

This tells steam to download the old version of the game from 2023.

(You need to own the game on steam for this command to work, otherwise it wont work - user is missing license)

Adding the game to your steam library

Click on Add a game (You will need to dig through your computer to find the download location, just store the folder somewhere on your hard drive or solid state) I have included an example of how I done it on my computer. Chances are Steam will probably do this for you anyway.

Then add the Exe as a Non steam game, you can also delete all files from the complex and replace them with these files instead, this way when you play the game, it will show you as in game the complex expedition on steam to your friends list, but other than that I prefer just adding it as a non steam game.

It is better to add it as a non-steam game, so you can still keep and play both versions. If you want to replace the new complex, remember to do a backup of your game files just in case.
