About these guides
In these guides I will try my best to share information I consider useful and I will be giving some recommendations and advice based on my experience and understanding of the game and its mechanics.

The guides have been created with google docs and google sheets to make it easier to work with and update them. Due to the difficulty of transferring them to here, I will just provide the links to the guides. They can be downloaded for easier use, but remember that if you do you won't be getting any updates for them. If you prefer to work with downloaded guides but want them to be updated, you can check the links from time to time to see if there is anything new and download them again.

I have done my best testing and making sure everything said in my guides is correct and updated, but there may still be some mistakes or outdated info. If you find any errors, please report them to me so that I can correct them.

All recommendations, advice, analyses, opinions, thoughts and conclusions that appear in my guides are subjective and based on my experiences, understanding of the game, and theoretical analysis. I try to be as objective as I can, not letting my preferences affect my judgement too much. But I cannot avoid being biased by my preferred playstyle.

Additionally, I don’t have time to try and test everything, so a lot of my recommendations and conclusions are mostly theoretical, based on thoughts and predictions rather than on actual experience. This means that sometimes I can be mistaken or I may be oblivious to better tactics or strategies than the ones I recommend.

I believe that experimenting, trying different gear and spells, thinking about combos and learning from experiences is always a source of enjoyment in games of this kind. The end goal of this game is to enjoy playing it, and each player will have a different way of achieving that, which doesn’t have to be mine. Therefore my goal is to help you understand this game better and give you some ideas that may help you enjoy it more, not telling you everything you have to do. Therefore, I highly encourage every player to:
  • Use these guides as sparingly as possible and dare yourself to try to learn as you play. Maybe you will struggle for a bit, take some time to completely understand the game and its mechanics and fail a lot before you start getting to the good answers. But in my opinion this is too part of what makes these games so great.
  • Never believe what I say to be the only “truth”. There may be things I have missed so don’t be afraid to go out of the paths I recommend here and try different things. Think and experiment by yourself and reach your own conclusions.
  • Never take my guides as a recipe of success that should be blindly followed, but as tools to help find your own answers. Try to find your own path rather than just following mine.

Well spotted! With so many Quest references I was bound to make some mistakes, thanks for the correction ^^

Found a minor error with the spreadsheet. On the Researchable Spell tab, Medusa is listed to appear first at "MQ2.4 & RPLQ2.1 or MQ2.8 & DHQ2.2". Medusa appears in DHQ2.3 (Swamp Hunt), not 2.2.

I have decided to keep all the hero builds based on a hero level of 60, since I believe that to be a fair goal. Whoever wants to keep going, great, but I believe only a few players will do that.

@SolarNougat
It seems they changed the cap during development. Not sure why, because it is not really needed. Maybe just to give some players some extra goals to chase. Thanks for the info, I will correct the guides.

Hi, I would like to report something that's either a bug, or a major change compared to what's in your guide. Apparently the level cap of the game is somewhere past 60. https://imgur.com/a/mmN06F5

I found this out while faffing about with Cheat Engine to increase my character's exp, but it should be noted I did so only to boost my character's level from 51 to 57; therefore, I grinded (ground?) levels 58-61 "legally". I don't know how high this may go, or if this is even intended at all, but I think I ought to let you know. Granted, I acknowledge that this is also so high a level that the extra skill points may not really matter to any build past this point, and so it may well be only "prestige" in practice similar to the level 90-100 range in most Pokemon and FF games.

I see, thank you. I think I'll shelve my Priest(ess) for now because I'm kinda sick of wrangling yellow gems/mana at the moment and I really want to try something that uses say, green and/or blue mana.

@SolarNougat

I haven't tried the Priest yet, but I have quickly checked it. It has an incredible damage potential, but not until you reach level 30 and get Sword of Sirian. Until then, you will probably have to rely on gear to get some extra damage. From my experience with other classes, the Priest seems to work best going all-in with Air Mastery and yellow mana. Focus on Air Mastery to be able to gather high amounts of yellow mana, capture a Giant Spider to use its Web spell to stun enemies, purchase a Holy Lance to get some extra skull damage and Runic Helm, Cloak and Banner for some extra healing and mana generation. That will give you everything you need to deal with your enemies. That is more or less what I have been trying with the Bard, and it has gone from a really slow and painful to play class to a fast, strong and (for now) unbeatable hero.

Have you played around with the Priest job/class? It seems like it's the one class with the lowest damage potential, less than even more passive classes like Druid. I'm struggling to find a way to make it feel fun to play.

Thank you for the guide

@Young Donal Sutherland

You see, I don't know why I was evaluating it as if it was "deal damage equal to half of enemy's green mana". I have corrected my rating, as you said Trample is without a doubt a premium direct damage spell, a true 5/5. Lots of potential damage for a low cost, a must for any class focusing on Earth Mastery.

Thank you very much for the correction!
