Intro
First of all, skate. (in my opinion) has extreme potential. One, to be the go-to skateboarding game, and two- to be something more than a micro transaction-filled free to play.

It does feel a bit off coming from the previous games, but thankfully there's plenty of settings in the menus of the game to adjust the way the player feels to control.
Transition
Off the bat, transition skating feels awful with the default settings.

Pumping Basics

Opposed to previous Skate games, this one has a different pump spot when on transition.

Before, the pump zone was pumping as the player just started to go up the transition, nearer the bottom. However, what I've found on this game is the pump zone being half way up the transition.

To know you have done it right, 'pumping' will appear in the score zone (bottom left corner) and dependent on settings, the controller will vibrate. It takes some getting used to, especially as the old mechanic was introduced in the first Skate.

To make it feel better (but still not perfect), change the following-

Vert Pump Assist

Turn this all the way down to zero. This will make the player fully in control of the transition pumps as it were in previous games. It improves the feel of transition skating but still takes a little bit to get used to, but once you've got the feeling it'll feel semi-natural.

Enable Semi Auto Pumping

Enable this. It pumps for you in case the player misses the pump , or is off-timing for the pump.

Anti-pumping

Turn this on, it sounds counter-intuitive but keeps the player grounded when going over humps, roll ins etc rather than getting accidental or unwanted airtime.

Street Skating
Unlike the defaults for transition, Skate. street skating feels awesome. New mechanics and animations have been introduced which has made the game feel so smooth, streamlined and really steezy.

Grind Assist Amount

This is the setting that will alter difficulty and 'realism' the most. It affects how the player locks on to grinds, if not correctly lined up to the obstacle. For the most part this is more of a personal preference setting, I keep mine on 35 to balance difficulty between how grinding feels in previous instalments of Skate.

50- Easy! This will feel like 'easy' mode on Skate 3. The player glides easily towards grinds. Bad for trying to do manuals on narrow ledges.

35- The sweet spot. Equates to the 'normal' setting on Skate 3. Best also for doing line challenges instead of bailing on a perfectly lined up grind.

15- Hardcore! Precision needed. Equates to the 'hardcore' setting on Skate 3.

Minimum Pop Height Amount

Again, this is a difficulty setting based solely on personal preference. I've set mine up for balance over difficulty and feel of the older Skate games, which is the middle option, 50.

100- Basically gives you the highest amount of pop for the smallest movement of the flick it controls. This equates to the 'easy' option on Skate 3.

50- The sweet spot. How fast and hard you flick the sticks on your controller matter, but not overly sensitive. Equates to the 'normal' setting on Skate 3.

0 - Hardcore! Makes the flick-it controls very sensitive to the movement of the stick on your controller. Equates to the 'hardcore' difficulty setting on Skate 3.

Outro
Thank you for reading.

As this is still in early access, no doubt things will change. I'll keep editing and altering this guide as the game gets updates and as I keep sinking hours into it.

I hope everyone takes something away from the guide. Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Again, thank you for reading.
