Nille's guide on how to drastically improve at CS2 (Extensive guide)
If you follow this plan to the teeth, i can GUARANTEE you that you will drastically improve at the game in a very fast manner.

Mechanical Fundamentals

Crosshair placement (the #1 skill)

Keep your crosshair at head height and where the next enemy could appear, not centered on the middle of the screen.

Learn common angles on each map and pre-aim them (so you only need micro-adjustments).

Drill: load a map alone, walk the common path (e.g., T-side entry on Mirage A), and “slice the pie”: clear each angle with short A/D strafes, crosshair always pre-aimed.

Movement & counter-strafe

Fire when your movement is fully stopped. Tap the opposite movement key (A→D or D→A) to counter-strafe and take accurate single shots.

Practice micro-strafes + one-tap bursts at 10–15 m on walls or bots.

Drill: 5×30 reps of AD-tap-tap (two bullets) at a wall target; reset fast.

Spray control & bursting

Learn the first 10–12 bullets of your main rifles’ patterns and reset after ~8–12 bullets.

Drill: empty mags into a wall at 10 m; then again while micro-strafing; then vs. moving bots. Record spread and tighten it each session.

Peeking toolkit

Jiggle/shoulder peeks: bait an AWP shot/info without committing.

Wide swing: clears off-angles and breaks headshot crosshair placement.

Jump spot (careful vs AWP): quick info on long sightlines.

Mix your peek types to be unreadable.

Utility (nades win rounds)

CS2 smokes are reactive/volumetric

HE can carve/push smokes; bullets create temporary gaps. Use HE to open sightlines for a peek or to disrupt a defuse.

Drill: in a local server, throw a standard lane smoke, then HE and peek through the gap; time how long you can see.

Flash fundamentals

Prefer pop flashes (explode as it turns a corner) over sky flashes.

Communicate: “popping in 3–2–1” so teammates swing on time.

Molotovs/HE

Molotov to deny space (sandbags, dark, car) or force out anchors before an exec.

HE for common plant spots or to combo with wallbangs.

Lineup system

Pick 2 anchors per site and learn: 1 smoke, 1 molly, 1 flash each. That’s 12 core nades per map—already enough for ranked.

Keep a simple notes doc: name, lineup cue, purpose (“CT smoke—A exec”).

Gamesense & decision-making

Trading & spacing

Always pair up—if Entry dies, the second player immediately swings. Your goal is “worst-case 1-for-1.”

Maintain 2–3 body lengths spacing to avoid getting double-sprayed or multi-flashed.

Win conditions per round

Ask at freeze-time: “What’s our win condition?” (e.g., punish B-pushes; late A split; fast mid control into cat). Pick one, exec cleanly, and only mid-round if the info changes.

Man-advantage conversions

Up a player? Slow the round. Group, trade, and use utility to clear info areas. Don’t give solo duels.

Info discipline

Sound is king. Walk when close, don’t reload in the open, and avoid redundant utility that gives away the plan.

Use shoulder peeks and one-way audio (e.g., when their util pops) to grab safe info.

Economy basics

Track loss bonus roughly and buy with a plan: full-buy (rifle + armor + at least one flash), half-buy (pistols/armor/one flash), or hard eco.

Prioritize utility: a $200 flash can create multi-frag swings you’d never get with a bare rifle.

Post-plant protocols

Plant for your numbers and util (“Default A—swing on tap”). Don’t overpeek before the tap.

Hold crossfires instead of double-holding the same angle. On tap, one swings, one holds.

Settings that help (consistency > chasing pro configs)

Mouse

Raw input ON, acceleration OFF. 400–800 DPI; eDPI in the ~800–1600 range is common.

Pick a sens, stick with it for 4+ weeks. (lower sense can be easier to control when in lower skill level)

Video

Fullscreen exclusive, V-Sync OFF, set frame cap slightly below your typical max for smoother frame pacing.

Lower most settings for visibility and stable FPS.

Audio

Use stereo/HRTF; sound type Natural, keep music off or very low; emphasize footsteps and grenade volume.

Crosshair & viewmodel

Small, static crosshair you can see over smokes and at long range.

Keep the viewmodel small and simple so it doesn’t cover angles.

Simple weekly training plan (≈6–8 hrs/week)

Before each session (10 min)

5 min click-tapping at a wall (head height), then 5 min 10-bullet sprays + burst resets.

Day 1 – Aim & counter-strafe (60–75 min)

20 min headshot DM (focus on AD-tap rhythm).

20 min rifle spray on moving bots.

20–30 min ranked/retakes focusing on wide-swing timing.

Day 2 – Utility (45–60 min)

Choose one site on one map. Lock 2 smokes, 1 molly, 1 pop flash. Film a 5-min clip for yourself.

Day 3 – Mid-rounding (60–75 min)

15 min dry-run map pathing (angle slicing).

45–60 min matches focusing on calling simple win conditions at freeze-time.

Day 4 – CT anchoring (45–60 min)

Drill two anchor setups (early nade, fallback path, re-aggression flash).

30 min retakes/short matches applying them.

Day 5 – VOD review (30–45 min)

Watch 3 lost rounds: note first mistake, utility usage, and spacing. Write one fix per round. That’s your goal next session.

Weekend – Play for volume (as time allows)

Stack with a friend (if possible) to practice clean trades and pop flashes.

Fast map-by-map checklist (use this to “level up” each map)

For each map you play:

T-side: one fast exec, one default, one late-round hit.

CT-side: your anchor plan (util + fallback path) and one re-take protocol.

Lineups: 2 smokes + 1 molly + 1 pop flash per site.

Angles: 5 common off-angles to pre-aim; 3 wallbangs or spam spots worth trying.

What to track (simple metrics)

Crosshair discipline: % of deaths where your crosshair wasn’t at head height (self-rated from VOD).

Trading rate: how often you or a buddy trade within 3 seconds.

Utility usage: flashes thrown per gun round and how many swing timings they enabled.

Spray control: hits in first 10 bullets vs. total bullets fired (from a short practice clip).

Trend > absolute numbers—look for week-over-week improvement.
