Currently how I view the game
As I see the game currently is that: You can scale and grind all of your characters to be viable, the build or startegy you use doesn't matter too much in the end. However, to have a bit more fluent early levels, and maybe not wipe a bunch of times I put together these tips. Trying to keep them as general as possible.

There are also reset potions in the game that you can use to rebuild your characters at any time during the game.
Tips
My hot tips list is:
1. You start the game with 4 characters. I suggest you make one each melee, ranger and mage. Simply so you can deal with the agility, magic and strength required choice events in the game.

2. Make your ranger a goblin, or all ranged characters goblins. They have night vision and can use their full range during night or in dark caves. For me dealing with cavern fights and night fights was a huge struggle for me, untill I started using goblins. dumbs down the strategy alot. Good for me who isnt that great at strategy and positioning.

If you don't want goblins but still struggle to position properly. Try doing sylvan for your ranged combatants.

3. Make 2 white mages. I still don't understand the recovery system or how I get into fights sometimes in this game. But having a mage that can shield and another heal at level 1. Is great help. Remember the damage on the staff counts towards how much you heal/shield you get. Having 2 white mages at level 1 and level 2. Helps fixing whatever ♥♥♥♥ up I did, first round in combat. If you forgot to rest. Just play defensive and heal first turn. Feel free to put any types of magic on these guys after level 3 and beyond.

4. Having at least 1 sylvan is great. Sometimes the enemy have a bunch of rangers that tries to kite you. Just having a Sylvan who can use double movement and then attack. Is always great. Doesn't matter what the build is, especially if you have 2 white mages healing guy up when the enemy rangers tries to pick your one sylvan apart.

5. If you struggle with high armour targets. Try using mauls and maul abilities.

6. Care about undeads being immune to a lot of different magic. Make sure to right click a skeleton, first time you meet one, and read their immunities. However, if you have the first burning spell from white mage tree it shouldn't be a problem.

7. Find the upgrade bag button in the shop! buy the first upgrade as fast as possible.

Happy hunting!
