Rift Traversal Tutorial

Game Objective

The main objective is simple: Loot and Extract.

Extraction Difficulty and Path

The extraction method depends on the difficulty (path) you are entering.

Higher difficulties require higher gear values to enter, but they also offer better drop rates. Higher risk = higher reward.

Extraction Methods (4 in total)

There are four ways to extract:

a. Quest Extraction – Complete any in-game quest: Ent's Den, Golden Roc, Flag Relay, Contract, or kill a player.

b. Low Weight Extraction – Have less than 10 weight in your backpack. (The weight of the weapon and the Chest of the Century are not counted.)

c. Mechanism Extraction – Activate 3 fixed mechanisms on the map in sequence to open the portal.

d. Buy-Out Extraction – Spend Void Coins (earned from missions or shoveling) at the Rift Merchant to purchase an extraction. Other players, including enemies, can also use it. Starting with the next update, extraction activates 1 minute after purchase.

General Tips and Mechanics

The poison pool when extracted by mechanic won't kill you. You can spam double jump to avoid the poison.

Chest rarity can be identified by the icon in the top left corner when looting: 2 petals = blue, 3 petals = purple, 4 petals = gold. Higher rarity = better loot chances.

There are approximately 5 fixed spawn locations for purple chests. The rest are random. (Interactive map)

For large chests, parry when the chest flashes white.

You can quickly move items in and out of your Century Chest by hovering over it and pressing "X".

Be aware of the automatic item exchange system. Most of the time, it's fine to rely on the intelligent value exchange, but check the market prices—some high-demand items sell for more manually.

The market is internally controlled. When listing items, if you see thousands of listings, lower your price by 4 clicks and it will usually sell instantly.

If you enter Yang's Realm and die, there are no revives. You lose everything except what's in your Century Chest.

You can equip and unequip Rubrics during the match by hovering over them and pressing ALT.

You can wake sleeping teammates with an unarmed slap.

There are two extraction waves in the Easy and Normal paths, and only one wave in the Doom (Hard) path.

For Dice Chests, if you get something good, you can wait 30-40 seconds and claim it yourself without needing your teammate.

Frozen Purple Chests require the Warming buff from a campfire to open.

To capture points in the Ents' Den, you don't need to kill the mobs. Ask your teammates to distract or remove the mobs from the circle while someone else captures them.

Puzzle Tips:

Middle Statue: Corresponds to the symbol above the boss throne

Right Statue: Head northeast; check the double statues for the symbol

Left Statue: Hit it repeatedly until the puzzle is solved

Podium Riddle (below the first riddle): Drop your weapon, armor, and bag to fully depress both pressure plates. Be careful—the Matari like to hide in the nearby bushes.

Strategies and Practical

⚔️ 1. Loadout Preparation

Light gear = mobility + stealth
→ A gold bag, a blue weapon (without rubric), grey armor, a bit of powder (healing/utility), and the rest grapples.
This reduces your Loadout Value, making your run less risky (fewer players will target you).

Grapples > everything else
They’re essential for escaping, surprising enemies, reaching high ground, and even stealing chests or corpses quickly.

Avoid heavy gear
Because it increases your loadout value and makes you a prime target in the harder paths.

🧭 2. Choosing Your Path

Perilous Path:
Ideal for farming quickly without too much mortal risk, especially solo. Two extraction waves → more opportunities to escape.

Doomed Path:
Very risky, only one extraction wave. You must either:

Play ultra-aggressive and secure loot very quickly.

Play opportunistic: wait for others to fight each other, then steal their chests/corpses and run.

👥 3. Solo or Team?

Solo:

Prioritize speed and opportunism.

Play like a scavenger: pick up leftovers after fights.

Only engage if you’re sure you can secure a quick kill.

Team (Duos/Trios):

Communication is essential.

One scout + one tank + one fast DPS works well.

Share grapples and always monitor the minimap to cover escapes.

🕹️ 4. In-Game Strategy

Early run:
→ Loot quickly, aim for medium chests instead of big ones (too contested).

Mid-game:
→ Conserve resources, avoid unnecessary fights. Start moving toward an extraction zone as soon as possible.

End (Extraction):

In Perilous, you have two waves → observe the first, use the chaos, then leave on the second wave.

In Doomed, there’s only one chance → hide near the extraction zone, wait for the big fight to break out, then rush at the right moment.
