Game start, first few runs will suck.
  • Maximize the game window. Duh. Win+Up arrow works. Alt+Enter goes full screen but the solo dev stated it may cause problems. He's moved on to other projects. https://store.steampowered.com/app/388080/Borderless_Gaming/ The Borderless Gaming app allegedly works. The game is cheap and I hope you bought it on sale. It's still a good game.

  • You start with two Characters available, and two (?) Heritages. Play both characters, the first one "Adventurer" is NOT easy as it requires specific side-by positioning and facing to use the basic skill. F that.

  • Try out a few different skills to see what you like. SPOILER ALERT: I really don't like skills that I have to aim with, i.e. only shoot in front. That means you're running from monsters and have to turn and face them to do damage. Not easy early on when you're just learning.

  • Start a game. Lose. Die. Repeat. Screw around with the UPGRADES, UNLOCKS, and PETS menus and make a mistake or two. It's okay.

  • You have to select a Pet to get it to show up in game.
  • UNLOCKS and UPGRADES both use up Gold. Dammit.
  • Try to level up right before opening a chest for full benefit, unless you need to heal. Stand on top of crystallized chests to open as fast as possible.

  • **CHARACTERS**
  • Adventurer - hard as heck to position the basic skill.
  • Crusader - a bit easier to play early on.
  • Cultist - a bit more complex but fun and got me my first few map victories after quite a while.
  • Ratfolk Archer is tricky to aim but once you realize you can move with WASD while aiming with the mouse it gets better, now you're basically playing twin-stick shooter.
  • The other characters will take a bit to unlock, I'll let you worry about that later. I'm sure there are build guides on YT or w/e.

  • **PETS:**
  • Take the longest to level up. Takes a while to figure out what you like, don't spend too much cash here until you do know.
  • FOX: Needs Evasion stat to enable SP regen (main skill use).
  • CAT: Crit Rate helps heal.
  • OWL: Every 3s instakill basic enemy, consistent gradual SP regen.
  • RACCOON: Brings chests if you like running edge or corner of map (crystals move toward you from the water). Additional coin.
  • HEDGEHOG: Needs player Retaliation stat. HP, Def, passive damage from pet.

  • **HERITAGES:**
  • BERSERKER Heritage does not benefit from Vitality (+max hp) and there's no way to see your character native abilities/heritage while playing, only prior to a run.
  • MERCHANT - the Weapon Skill advantage only works on the basic attack, so afaik it's useless on the CULTIST.
Now we're rolling
  • 07:00 first boss. 14:00 second. 21:00 third. You need some speed for the bosses.
  • The "Rare Item" UPGRADE does affect Magnet and Skull (bomb) drop chance. Add two levels of Psychokinesis (in-game skillup) for decent chance of Magnets. This skill also makes you a very slow magnet.
  • The Level Modifier screen is tricky as f. If you select something and then move the cursor without "clicking off" that modifier it will drag the selector with it. YIKES. I had accidentally set Enemy HP to 500%.
  • Keep track of what relics you have, since you can't check during level up ~~or when opening chests~~.
  • Turn down the Opacity setting in Options a little or you'll have a hard time on bosses.
  • Enhanced Bosses setting is fun even if you haven't beaten the first map yet. Masochist.
  • "Invocation" is the choice between 10 rerolls or gain a level or heal to full when you open a chest.
  • You may wish to jot down what your base stats for HP Regen, Health, SP Regen, Retaliation, Crit Rate, Evasion, and Knockback are, since you can't check stats while you're choosing skillups. Meh. And it'll change based on character and upgrades.

  • Still a great game.
Achievements and unlocking characters & levels
  • Most achievements don't give a tangible benefit.
  • To unlock some Characters and Heritages you do have to earn some achievements. It'll take a while to figure out, see the UNLOCKS menu, then go to the Steam Achievements webpage and do Ctrl+F to search for the ones you need. Good luck.
  • Luckily killing bosses in one map seems to unlock the next map, so that's simple.
  • There's achievements for getting each active skill to Level 10, but there's no benefit afaict.
  • The Dark Should Fear Me is probably easiest with a Crusader.
  • Like A Stone also with Crusader (and Raccoon, see Options setting for getting the chests deposited right on top of you without moving). https://www.reddit.com/r/nomadsurvival/comments/w3ayiw/like_a_stone_achievement_guide/ Loosely following this also accidentally got me my Level 77 achievement. 3x speed and it's kinda fun and quick lol.
