Shadowynn is quite tough on 3 stars.

She starts with 27+ income and worst of all: She sends a Mimic on Wave 6. And that means she gets even more cash to spend, even if you're able to defend that wave. And I guess the AI cheats anyway at 3 Stars.

So, for the first couple of hours, I played by the books.

I pushed some early workers and prepared for those nasty pushes, but most of the time it all fell apart sooner or later.

If I did send at the same time, my defense was already overwhelmed when my mercs got through to her side. That's not going to work!

I noticed that I had to push a round before she sent her army of doom. That worked out pretty reliably.

Send some pierce damage and collect some extra gold to spend on whatever you want!

She always sends at the same waves, so that's something you can write down.

For the last couple of hours, I tried to beat her at wave five, which is what this guide is about: beating her really, really early.

I don't know at which other waves she spends her mythium anymore, so if you want to play the long game, you can use this guide as a reference point (maybe)

I started playing around with different Masterminds, trying to push as many workers as possible in the rounds leading up to Wave 5. It's possible to get 8-10 workers by Wave 4 and to send mercs on Wave 5 and barely survive Wave 6. But it gets tougher and tougher to beat her, since she's got such a high income advantage.

It doesn't matter if you're using Miner, Lock-In, Cartel, or Yolo. But having some extra income might make things easier, since we don't want to spend any Mythium before Wave 5.

It's pretty easy to get 120-160 mythium ready.

So I tried out different combinations of mercs to see if that amount of mythium would be enough. Mind you, I was still trying not to leak in the first couple of rounds.

Combinations to get the King down to ~37%

• Safety Mole + Lizard
  
  
• Hermit + 2x Lizard
  
  
• Mimic

I focused on pierce damage, since she always starts with a Berserker!

"You're going down BigBoi" - The Berserker seems to be dissing 50% of OutKast

We're missing 80+ Mythium to finish Shadowynn!


But how? If we want more Income, all our Mythium is gone.

Dwarf Banker
Gives 2 - 8 extra Gold per round, if Dwarf Dude surives.
You can build two of these right from the start. But: That's not enough money at all. So no Dwarf Gang for us. (Also they'll die anyway without other Units on the board)

I couldn't think of any other way to get more gold. So no Option A.


Rats! We need rats!

It's a Looter. Build one of these and upgrade it to a Pack Rat!
Send him away! Every round! He comes back with 11 Mythium!




And some Flower Power!

Aww! A little Seedling. Upgrade these to it's second form!

Chloropixies give 5 Mythium after the round ends, when they die.
So let them die!!!


That's more or less it. Build those little buggers and don't mind leaking a little bit.

I picked Rat Boy
I upgraded Rat Boy and wished him good luck on his adventures

I got really lucky and got Seedling after my Re-Roll.


So I did place a Chloropixie

Enough Gold left to get a Worker!

Got Worker Nr. 4 and watched as my King got punched in the face!

Workers: 6
One more Looter on the battlefield.

King gets slapped again.

Workers: 8
Mythium: Enough

I did send these Mercs while Wave 4 was on it's way:

A Mimic and a Hermit. That was enough to beat Shadowynn!

Also: I didn't send the Rat away this time. And I placed some more Seedlings and a Chloropixie.
This way I could clear the Wave without having to worry about my "King".
