If you start the game and your friend can't join you anymore with the player search loading indefinitely, this guide will help you workaround this problem.

This problem appeared after beating the boss named The Hollow Crow, we stopped playing and closed the game. Not sure whether it matters or not but the person who was hosting closed it before disconnecting the other player.

The next day that other player appeared in a previous area with the same stats as the day before (so no loss in terms of levels and items acquired) BUT with missing vestiges, he was not able to join my game and I ended up joining him in non-shared progression to cross previous areas, kill the bosses we had already done together and activate the vestiges. However it appeared that every boss we had done in my save, as the original host, was already dead except one ♥♥♥♥ ass boss: Kinrangr Guardian Folard next to the Vestige of Svornil in Fief.

The boss area was not showing but he was still here standing and not moving. We tried to kill him but he was not taking any damage.

So our guess is that this unkillable boss is causing the bug. If anyone has a software to kill any entity without manually doing it yourself in game (it doesn't work anyway) feel free to share it.

Basically the only workaround we found is to clone the host's save, modify it and give it to your friend. This means that we know this solution works when both people play on PC.
As for people who crossplay with their friend on another platform, sorry but we doubt this could work for you. You can still read 'til the end and see if you can do something similar, somehow.

Here are the steps :


Go directly to this folder : C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\LOTF2\Saved\SaveGames
and make a copy of the file named Save00.sav and rename that copy as Save01.sav


(dont worry about the files under it, they'll be created after launching the game)

At this point if you have unlocked the mirror in game that allows to change your stats and appearance or if your friend doesn't mind playing with the exact same character as you then just give him your save file and you are done.


In our case we used WeMod which is a cheating software that allows you to change every stat manually.




In game, load the copy of your save file (the one you created earlier which is also the one you'll give to your friend) then go back to WeMod and scroll down until you see this:



Ask your friend to send you a screenshot of their character stats and modify the save stats on WeMod to match your friend's. Careful, don't modify any resistance stat, they will update by themselves.

Equip the same armor and stuff as your friend and if needed you can give yourself vigor on WeMod to upgrade the weapons your friend had upgraded on their own character.


(if you do, dont forget to throw away what's left by dying, don't ruin your fun ;))



And now you are done, close the game and give the modified save file to your friend; you can now play together again. We tried it ourselves and it worked perfectly, the only problem is that until you unlock the mirror you and your friend will have the same appearance (well, it's not that much of a problem) and you'll also share the same character name.
