Beskrivning
The 6400 Series (6400系) and 6620 Series (6620系) are commuter EMU types operated by Kintetsu Railway on the Minami-Osaka Line system.

Introduced in 1986 as the first VVVF controlled vehicle for the narrow gauge Minami-Osaka Line network, the 6400 series follows Kintetsu's standard commuter train design at the time, which was first unveiled 4 years earlier with the 1420 series. Compared to the previous 6600 series introduced in 1983, the body structure was changed to tapered aluminium alloy instead of stainless steel to reduce assembly costs. The 6400 series underwent several design changes during it's production period, the passenger cabin specifications were modified from the 13th set onwards for greater capacity, and lighter weight bogies were fitted from the 22nd set. A total of 33 2-car sets were built in the 6400 series, with the production period lasting until 1996. The 6620 series is a 4 car variant derived from the 6400 series, 7 sets were produced from 1993-1997. The 2 final sets of the 6400 series were made to be compatible with one man operation, but 12 addition sets from the later batches were converted for one man operation gradually. From 2023, 'A Update' renovations are cbeing carried out on the 6400 series fleet, which would refresh the interior design and update passenger information and safety equipment. Due to it's flexibility as a 2-car set which can be coupled to any other standard commuter train to form various lengths, the 6400 series is operated across the entire Minami-Osaka Line system. The Domyoji Line exclusively uses the type as it is the only 2-car driver only train on the network. The 6620 series is also used for a range of services from 4 car local trains to 6 or 8 car express trains coupled with other sets. All produced cars are in service and there are no current plans for withdrawal.
