Spells are the most crucial weapon in the world of Mage Arena. They serve a variety of purposes, such as combat, tracking, healing, and infiltration. The first 4 spells are found in the starting spellbook that you spawn with (left), and the other spells can be found in pots in the Mausoleum (right), chests in the Lava Fortress, or acquired from trading items to the Elves in the Forest Village. This guide serves to explain their purposes, highlight their abusive exploits, and to help new players learn how to utilize each spell to the fullest. Enjoy reading!

Fireball is a spell that fires a fireball. It is cast by saying "FIREBALL." Very self explanatory. However, it is crucial to say it CLEARLY for it to work properly. However, it is possible for the spell to work by saying "BALL," or "___BALL" (space is an additional word of caster's choice). This can be used to use the spell quicker, but this method isn't very reliable.

Freeze is a spell that shoots a thin, fast moving ice beam, freezing your opponent inside a block of ice. It is cast through saying "FREEZE." Again, very simple. Say it clearly, and it should work just fine. There is no way to abuse the voice command, as it is a one syllable word. However, gameplay-wise, it can be gimmicked/combo'ed. It typically takes a half or full second for the game to register and fire the spell, so aim in advance. If you hit and freeze your target, hit them with a fireball, dark blast, or thunderbolt for maximum damage (I would not recommend using magic missile for its low damage, but also to confirm a kill if they escape the ice. I have not tested Rock's effectiveness, so I don't know if this combo's well.).

Worm and Hole are unique spells, as they deal no damage. Their sole purpose is to optimize travel through use of portals. To cast the entrance portal, Worm, simply say "WORM." Easy. To make the exit portal, Hole, say "HOLE." Again, easy. However, there are common mistakes when casting them. Do not say "WORMHOLE," or the spell won't work. Be clear when casting, and do not combine the spells. Also, you can shoot fireballs through the portal to send to the other side. This does not work with other spells.

Magic Missile is a homing attack that fires 3 purple blasts at nearby enemies. Perfect for close range and unusable at long ranges. Casted by saying "MAGIC MISSILE." It combo's very well with Rock, Freeze, and Fireball. It can be abused by saying "MAGIC." This leads to funny moments, like saying "MAGIC JOHNSON," or "MAGIC AND BIRD."

Dark Blast is a very strong attack that shoots a large purple beam. It can instakill or almost kill at high levels, and is good for gates or corridors. It is casted by saying "DARK BLAST." It can be abused by simply saying "BLAST," or "___BLAST." It is recommended to say "BIDEN BLAST," as it is funny and if you don't do it, you suck. Dark Blast combo's best with freeze.

Rock is a spell that summons a rock that sends opponents flying upwards. Perfect for finishing off anyone in your path. To cast say "ROCK." Same as the others. However, this attack is stronger than most spells. It's initial attack is weak, but the fall damage usually kills at higher levels. To survive, use the levitation staff, the bounce staff, or fall into water. This spell could combo well with magic missile. If you fire magic missile, then use rock to send them upwards with the missiles following the player, it could kill most opponents or at least deal massive damage.

Thunderbolt is a very powerful spell that sends 1 or 2 lightning bolts crashing from the sky. Perfect at long ranges, and destructive in crowds. To cast, say "THUNDERBOLT" (why do I even bother, the whole game is about casting spells with voice chat). To my knowledge, you cannot say "THUNDER" or "BOLT" and have the spell work. Not many combo's, but using it on frozen players will deal massive damage.

Whisp is an interesting spell, as it's purpose, or rather purposes, is different from the other spells. When casted, it shoots a floating white-teal fireball that hones on the nearest enemy player, regardless of map placement. It can be used as a tracking tool or a very long range attack. However, it does minimal damage, making its use in combat limited. To cast, say "WHISP." No real combo's or abuses here.

A typically useless spell, Blink teleports the user a short distance forward. Very basic and honestly bad. However, it works through walls, so using it near the enemy's castle can secure a victory. Casted by saying "BLINK." Remember to speak clearly.

Essentially, Divine Light is a beneficial flashbang. It emits a bright light that heals anyone in its vicinity. Casted by saying "DIVINE LIGHT." It is not recommended to be used offensively, because it heals both friend and foe and that magic missile can still home in on players. No combo's, but it can activate by saying "DIVINE ___"

Doom is a very overpowered spell that opens a black hole, sucking players inside. Casted by saying "DOOM." No combo's, its just that overpowered. The only funny thing that I can think of saying is "MF DOOM" (rip).

Spawns a bubble that traps enemy players. Simple and relativly similar to freeze. Combo's well with fireball, thunderbolt, and doom.
