The first thing you're gonna need to do is go looting. The Golden Idol is very heavy, so you're gonna want items to counteract that, specifically, balloons.

Golden Idol's weight: 40 (i.e., 40% of your stamina bar)
Balloon Bunch weight: -15
Balloon weight: -5
Anti-rope Spool* weight: -1

*The Anti-rope Cannon has a weight of 0, meaning it does reduce weight.




Keep in mind that if you fill your backpack with balloons and balloon bunches, the Golden Idol will still be very heavy if held in your hotbar. It helps to carry at least one balloon bunch in your hotbar with idol.






Another item you might need is either a chain launcher or parasol. I recommend using a chain launcher, but if you are unable to find one it can be done with a parasol.

Now you've got the find the tomb. It always spawns in the first part of the Mesa biome, however, sometimes the entrance to the tomb is blocked off. You won't know if it's blocked off or not until you actually reach the Mesa, and that's why you should get a chain launcher (or parasol) beforehand.


If you do manage to find the entrance, there is an absolutely evil section of parkour you have to do to get to the idol room. Falling is certain death


IF THE ENTRANCE IS BLOCKED OFF
There is still a way in! There's a cave nearby with a broken wall where you can clip out and get into the tomb's tunnel
This is what the chain launcher is for. Shoot the launcher at the tunnel and you should be able to get in. If you have a parasol instead of a chain launcher, it is possible to jump down into the tunnel instead, but it is tricky. Use the parasol to float down to the tunnel.

Once inside, you can now finally obtain The Golden Idol.
The idol also makes you completely invincible while holding it, making the Cool Cucumber and Megaentemology badges really easy to get.

Golden Idol in tow, make your way through the rest of the Mesa.
Once you get to the Caldera, you can actually use the idol's invincibility to just walk through the lava, taking no damage.
This does cause the idol to be cooked and eventually incinerated, but don't worry, this has no effect on getting the badge.

Now inside the Kiln, you must part ways with the idol. Make your sacrifice, and throw him into the lava.
You now have the badge! You can also use your balloons to help you out of the kiln, since you are no longer carrying the weight of the idol.
