Introduction
This guide will show you how to mod OFF to add the original Soundtrack and SFX by ACC back into the game. For those unaware, the game off initially launched outside of Steam as a Free RPGmaker title, and had a Soundtrack which was well tailored to the game, by artist Alias Conrad Coldwood (ACC). When Fangamer reached out to the creator of the game for a Remake they were not able to secure the rights to use the original Music for a variety of reasons.

Since the music and SFX was integral to the game, and since ACC has licensed them as creative commons non-commercial. Fans have developed mods to add them back into the Remake of the game. This guide shows you how to install this specific mod.
Installation
Step 1
To install this mod, first go to the game on Steam, then right click on the game, hover over the 'Manage', then select 'browse local files'.

Step 2
Next go to the mod's download page[ferase.itch.io] in your Web browser and download the variant of your choice. This mod has two variants. A high quality extended version of the soundtrack, and the original 2008 version of the soundtrack.
Then copy the contents of the 'OFF_Data' folder within the zip to the game's directory, merging and replacing files as prompted.

Step 3
Next step is optional if you want to replace SFX, download your preferred version of the SFX replacement mod from the page linked in step 2. There's a full version and a minimal version.
Then extract the 'OFF_Data' folder in the zip to the game's directory merging and replacing files as requested.

Step 4
Optional: If you wish to remove the Sound which plays when an ally's turn in battle starts, download the Fixed DLLs Zip file from the page linked in Step 2. Open it and choose which variant you want.
  • Z1 Boss Fix Only:
Fixes Looping bug in Zone 1 Boss theme (already bundled with Soundtrack mod)

  • No BM Ready SFX Only
Prevents playing the sound effect that plays when an Ally's turn in Battle starts, does not contain the Looping bug fix.

  • Z1 Boss Fix & No BM Ready SFX
Applies both fixes at the same time both addressing the looping bug and silences the sound effect when battle starts.
Pick which ever one you desire and copy the 'OFF_Data' folder to the game directory, merging and replacing as requested.
Final Thoughts and Credits
While it's a bummer that this is needed to experience the game in the best way possible it's great that it exists and that it is possible for us to mod the old music and SFX back in.

This mod was created by ferase on itch.io huge thanks to them, since without them this would not have been possible.

Music and SFX in this mod was made by Alias Conrad Coldwood/Unproductive Fun Time.

If you like this mod consider giving it a rating and leaving a comment on the mod's Itch.io page:

Guide has been updated to include SFX replacement options which were added to the main Soundtrack replacement mod.

That is what I meant, though I didn't say enough so I understand why you misunderstood my comment.

That doesn't seem to be the case. But the author of that deleted mod contributed to an updated version of the mod this guide now links to which also supports the SFX. Presumably properly this time.

Well, now the OST + SFX mod is back up.

Guide has been reworked to use a different mod. SFX replacement is not an option anymore unfortunately. Maybe in the future we'll get a proper mod to do it. Probably not anytime soon.

The author of the other mod that also replaces the SFX took it down because they were forced to recognize that it introduced a lot of bugs that they have no idea how to fix, so they can't recommend using it. Hopefully, the music only mod doesn't have such issues.

It seems the creator deleted or privated his page. In th meantime you can download the music file from this page here https://ettewtf.itch.io/off-definitive-edition
It doesn't have the SFX replacement though unfortunately. It's just the music.
Why link doesn't work? Is there some alternative way to download this mod?

Thank you! I want to play through the game for the first time using the new soundtrack but I've always wanted to play it with the original as well, might use this for a replay
