Basic Tips & Tricks
There is often overlap in genres
If you're feeling very stumped for options, or like your bookshelves are overflowing with one particular genre (looking at you, Kids), don't forget that there's often overlap between them! You may have noticed the same titles reappearing in multiple genres. That's why sometimes it's good to recommend outside the genre the requester is asking for - it might be that book has their desired genre as a hidden one.

Note that this doesn't seem to help with autonomously selecting books - just when you're recommending them.

Classic overlaps with EVERYTHING
Well, almost everything. I've yet to see Classic/Fact, and Classic/Travel seems uncommon, but just about everything else can be found to some extent in the Classic category. Special shout-out to William Shakespeare for his multitude of Classic/Drama plays.

"Non-fiction" includes Travel
You don't have to immediately spring for a Fact book when someone comes in asking for knowledge. Unless they're specifically after "facts", you can usually squeeze a Travel book into their basket.

Don't be afraid to think outside the box!
Yes, The Lorax IS considered a Dystopia, thank you for asking!

Sometimes you'll find the requests in almost absurd places. If you know the books, you can probably recommend them based on knowledge not presented to you in the game. From my testing, a lot of books will be accepted for a Political/Activism request, for example.
Link to Google Sheets
As much as I would like to host this on Steam, the tables feature is atrocious and makes me want to pull my teeth out.

Instead, please find the link to the Google Sheet that houses the reference here.[docs.google.com]

Please leave any feedback in the comments on this guide and I'll try to add your requests. I do plan to add a search feature to make trawling the data a little more legible for the standard user.
Credits & Acknowledgements
Thanks for reading! If this resource has helped you, please do rate it. This does absolutely nothing except give me a little bit of serotonin(!). It might also make the guide more visible so others can find it but I have no idea honestly.

Tiny Librarians (crowdsourcing contributions)
Thanks to denna, dognutjoe, Koradva, Runecrypt and skyxsylke for contributing to crowdsourcing!

Tiny Bookshop Helper (Multilingual!)
Thank you also to the Tiny Bookshop Database[leanny.github.io] for providing datamined information that has helped improve the accuracy of Every Book in Tiny Bookstore!

Note that, for now, Every Book in Tiny Bookstore is only on the books found in English (may change). The link above will allow you to only show books in the played game language.

Happy bookselling!

that issue should now be fixed but let me know if it's still broken

actually it only partially fixes the issue, lol. idk anymore

figured it out, if you swap input order you get different books. so if space is tagged before sci fi and you put sci fi first and space second you won't get that book

the search function is a bit wonky: the sci-fi tag in particular. certain books don't show up, like the martian chronicles, despite having the tag. unsure of why that is

This is amazing, great work!

"The Cask of Amontillado" failed for a gore story with no philosophy. The comment was "Come on, I wanted nightmare fuel"

okay, thank you! yes, that might be the case. I didn't record exactly what the request was so am not sure on that unfortunately :)

Hi febblepebble, it's possible that you "failed" a higher priority part of the request to get the "I'm not sure" comment? I think Heartstopper is considered to be written by a female author according to the datamine. Not sure on Witch Boy.

whoops, correction: Lee Knox Ostertag uses he/him, and Alice Oseman uses she/they (both according to wikipedia). so possibly the game is just intentionally not counting either as women, which would make sense! either way, just something to note
