Default Control Scheme
The Lore
Thousands of years ago, a formless entity from another dimension crossed into our world, radiating an energy that could disturb the human mind. Those who harbored intense negative emotions like anger or hatred were especially vulnerable, falling into madness and violence. This influence led to wars and mysterious outbreaks that took many lives.

To stop it, ancient humans built a giant megalithic pyramid to trap the entity and contain its power. Over time, the structure was buried by nature and became a mountain. Locals eventually named it Mount Bisik, or “Whisper Mountain,” after hearing strange voices near it. Fearing its presence, they began to see the mountain as a sacred and haunted place.”
Your Quick Survival Checklist
Priority Intel
The Breakdown
The Golden Rule
There are no in-mission saves. Once you start a mission, you either finish it or fail and start over. Plan for each run to be a single, high-stakes attempt.
Bring Your Friends
This game is built for co-op. Playing solo is brutally hard. Use the Friend’s Pass to team up with friends, even if they don’t own the game.
Know Your Role
At the start of a run, you’ll choose from random classes. Know the basics: Security Guards hit hard, Sprinters are fast, and Medics keep the team alive.
Travel Light
Your inventory is tiny. You can’t carry everything. Drop items you don’t need immediately (they’ll show up on your map) and share resources with your teammates.
Common Puzzles
Stuck? In the Police Station, find an officer’s ID and birthdate and add them together for codes. In the Hospital, look for codes on dead workers’ ID badges.
Priority Threats
Some monsters are worse than others. Focus your fire on the Screamer (damage sponge), the Vomiter (creates acid pools), and the Hairmaiden (she’ll grab you).
Choosing Your Survivor: A Quick Look at Classes
You won’t always get to play as the same character. At the start of each mission, you’ll be given a random selection of three classes to choose from. While there are six in total, here are the main ones you’ll encounter and what they do:

Rookie Agent – Fresh recruit from the Bureau
Armed with a standard pistol and can craft more early on, but loses it on death. Poorly trained in melee combat.

Bodybuilder – Muscles over endurance
Gains +20 max health, but loses -10 max stamina.

Medic – Former medical staff who survived the chaos in the local hospital
Starts with healing items and can bring fallen allies back faster.

Security Guard – Knows how to throw a swing, but sucks at catching bad guys
Hits harder in melee combat, but has slower movement speed.

Sprinter – An athlete trained to win the finish line, not to survive the front lines
Slightly faster movement speed, but -10 max health.

Firefighter – Trained to break through flames, not gunfights
Starts with an axe and can craft it early, but loses it on death. Poor aim makes firearms harder to use.

As you complete missions, you’ll earn skill points. You can spend these back at your base to upgrade your abilities in three areas: Military (guns), Martial Arts (melee), and Fitness and Health (survivability). A good strategy is to have your team specialize. Let one person focus on crafting weapon parts while another focuses on making better healing items.
Weapons
Axe
A versatile melee weapon for close combat.

Bat
Wooden club used to play baseball games.

Sledgehammer
A heavy blunt weapon capable of dealing massive damage.

Spiked Bat

Sword
A sharp bladed weapon for melee combat.

Training Pistol
A practice handgun used for shooting exercises at the range. Not suitable for combat and cannot be taken on missions.

Pistol
A semi-automatic pistol that uses 9mm caliber pistol ammo.

MP-9
A 9mm variant of submachine gun. Commonly used by law enforcement units.

Revolver
Large revolver that fires powerful rounds.

Assault Rifle
Military-grade firearm that uses intermediate rifle rounds.

Shotgun
Standard military shotgun with pump action mechanism. Fires spreading pellets.

Grenade
Explosive throwable device used to deal area damage.

Molotov Cocktail
Bottle filled with flammable liquid and a means of ignition.

Extraction
In Whisper Mountain Outbreak, extraction is where the game stops asking and starts demanding. Once your objectives are complete, the extraction point becomes your lifeline out of the chaos. Getting there isn’t enough. You’ll need to survive long enough for your escape to register. The Mayit will swarm, your stamina will drain, and every poor decision made earlier will come back to haunt you. This is the moment to push every weapon, healing item, and skill to its limit. Extraction isn’t just the end of the mission; it’s proof you earned the right to see another day. The extraction will begin whenever you collect the classified container.

When you reach the car, you’re not instantly safe. You still need to interact to trigger the escape, and the Mayit will try to dogpile you in those last seconds. Keep swinging, shooting, or shoving until the animation locks you into safety. Hold out for 10 seconds while the car powers up, then make your move and interact to climb in.

Crafting Materials
Crafting Materials: Your Silent Lifeline

In Whisper Mountain Outbreak, crafting materials are one of the few resources that don’t fight for your precious inventory space. From herbs to metal scraps, these components are the backbone of survival fueling your ability to heal, modify weapons, and create vital tools. Even if you can’t use them immediately, every collected material pushes you closer to crafting the gear you’ll need for the next run. Smart survivors keep their crafting bins full, their recipes unlocked, and their options open. When the horde is at your heels, a well-timed crafted item can mean the difference between escape and becoming Mayit chow.

How Crafting Works
Crafting lets you create useful items such as healing herbs, weapon modifications, ammo, and quest-related tools. Materials can be found scattered throughout mission areas, often in containers, on shelves, or dropped by enemies.

Crafting is done at the hub between missions or at workbenches during missions, depending on the item type. Some recipes require unlocking through skills before you can make them.

Types of Crafting Materials
Scraps- Small leftover materials from broken or discarded items
Cloth- Lightweight yet durable, it can be sewn, reinforced, or repurposed for various needs
Gun poweder- A volatile powder used in crafting ammunition and explosives
Chemicals- Reactive substances used in crafting medicine, explosives, and special compunds.

Hip pouch lvl 2- gives you 2 extra inventory slots
Hip pouch lvl 3- Gives you an additional 2 extra inventory slots

Inventory Considerations
Crafting materials do not take up standard inventory space, which is a huge advantage given the game’s very limited carry capacity. This means you can collect as much as you find without sacrificing space for weapons, ammo, or healing items.

Because they don’t consume inventory slots, it’s always worth picking them up—even if you can’t craft the related item yet.

Gameplay Strategy
  • Gather Everything – Since materials don’t take space, there’s no reason to leave them behind.
  • Plan Crafting Around Skills – Unlocking certain skill upgrades will open new crafting recipes, so keep stockpiling resources in advance.
  • Support Team Roles – In co-op, one player can focus on gathering and crafting while others concentrate on combat or objectives.
  • Save for Key Items – Some missions may require crafted items to complete objectives, so having a healthy stockpile prevents last-minute shortages.
Skills
How Skills Work
After each mission, whether you succeed or fail, you earn skill points. These can be spent back at the hub to unlock permanent upgrades for your character.

There are three main skill categories:
Military Book – Focuses on firearms and explosives
Martial Arts Guide – Enhances melee combat effectiveness
Fitness and Health Magazine – Improves health and stamina

The first unlock in each category costs 1 point, the next costs 2, and the third costs 3. This tiered system means you have to think carefully about where to invest for the best long-term benefit.

Types of Upgrades
Skills provide a variety of bonuses, such as:
  • Increased melee or firearm damage
  • Faster stamina recovery
  • Higher maximum health
  • Access to new crafting recipes for weapons, mods, or healing items

After each run, you earn skill points that can be invested in one of three core paths: firearms and explosives, melee and martial arts, or health and stamina. The first upgrade in a path costs 1 point, the second costs 2, and the third costs 3, making progression a deliberate trade-off. These upgrades grant tangible benefits like harder melee hits, faster stamina recovery, or access to new crafting options. In co-op, splitting specialization such as having one teammate focus on healing while another boosts weapon damage, adds strategic depth. However, some post-revive perks are less useful in solo play, so choose wisely based on your style.

Gameplay Impact & Strategy
Team Specialization – In co-op, players can divide roles for maximum efficiency. One player might focus on crafting and support, while another specializes in heavy weaponry or melee.

Solo Play Considerations – Some skills, like health recovery after being revived, have little value for solo players. In those cases, focus on self-sufficiency upgrades like stamina boosts or weapon damage.

Long-Term Growth – Even failed runs can be valuable, as the skill points you earn make you stronger for the next attempt. Skills ensure your time investment always moves you forward.

What is the Item Box?
In Whisper Mountain Outbreak, managing resources is as harrowing as facing hordes of Mayit. The Item Box, located in the mission hub, functions as a secure, persistent inventory that players can use between runs. Operating with only one melee weapon, one gun, and a few extra slots during missions makes decisions feel urgent. Dropping a key, healing herb, or powerful firearm can be a matter of life or death. The Item Box alleviates this pressure by letting you stash essential items for future runs. Given the game’s punishing “no save” system, preserving valuable gear through the Item Box is not just convenient but vital for survival. Strategically storing high impact items and reclaiming them later can shift the balance in your favor, especially when every bullet and herb counts.
What the Lanterns Mean in the Hub
At the hub, you’ll notice three glowing lanterns. These lanterns are your lives tracker. Every time your character falls during a mission, one lantern breaks. When all three are shattered, your run is over. These lanterns offer a quick, visual indication of how many chances you’ve got left to complete your objective and get back to safety.

So, they’re not just ambient props. They’re your death counter worn right on the mission dashboard.

Outsmarting the Mountain: Common Puzzles
You won’t just be shooting monsters; you’ll also need to solve “escape room” style puzzles. Here are the solutions to the most common ones that trip up new players.

  • Police Station Lockers & Safes: You’ll find a note explaining that locker codes are a combination of an officer’s ID number and their birthdate. You need to find the personnel files to get this information. For example, for Officer Cahyono, you add his ID (29.50.28) to his birthdate (09.12.1964) to get the code 39.62.92.
  • City Hospital Locked Cabinets: Somewhere in the hospital, you will find the corpse of a hospital worker. Look at their ID badge for a numerical code. That code will open a corresponding lock or safe, usually at a nurse’s station.
Keep an eye out for keys, keycards, and tools like bolt cutters. You’ll often need to find an item in one part of the map to open a door in another. If your inventory is full, don’t be afraid to drop a key or puzzle item on the ground. Its location will be marked on your map so you can come back for it later.
What’s Trying to Kill You: Know Your Monsters
The creatures on Mount Bisik, called “Mayit,” aren’t your typical zombies. They are supernatural beings driven by pure rage. Here’s a quick rundown of what you’ll be up against.

The most common enemies are the basic Mayit. Some are slow, some are fast, some wear armor, and some will even explode when they die, so keep your distance.

The real danger comes from the Elite Anomalies. These are mini bosses designed to ruin your day.
  • The Hairmaiden is a terrifying crawling monster that will lunge and bind you with her hair. Your teammates will need to shoot the hair to free you.
  • The Vomiter spits acid that creates dangerous pools on the ground, limiting your movement. Take this one out fast before it controls the area.
  • The Screamer is a huge damage sponge. It doesn’t do much on its own, but it will soak up all your bullets while the rest of the horde closes in. Focus all your firepower on it immediately.
Variations of undead elite anomalies

Finally, the game has a “doom clock.” The longer you spend in a level, the more frequently hordes of enemies will spawn. Every mission ends with a final, endless horde that chases you to the extraction point. Save your best ammo for these moments!

Tips
  • Use the short mission length to your advantage. Each run is about 10 minutes, so don’t stress about losing progress. Focus on quick, smart scavenging and survival rather than perfection.

  • Co-op is your friend. Playing with friends adds a lot of fun and makes surviving easier since you can revive each other and cover more ground.

  • Manage your inventory carefully. Since there’s no save feature, you want to maximize what you carry. Prioritize healing items, ammo, and weapons that suit your playstyle.

  • Use the environment. Listen for audio cues and watch for shadows or movement to avoid surprises. The atmosphere is designed to keep you tense so use that tension to stay alert. Watch for explosive barrels.

  • Don’t be afraid to retreat. If things get overwhelming, falling back to a safer area to regroup or heal can save your run.

  • Keep an eye on your stamina. Sprinting helps you escape danger but drains stamina fast. Use it wisely to avoid getting caught off guard.

  • Experiment with classes. Each class has strengths and weaknesses. Find one that fits your preferred combat style whether it’s melee-heavy, ranged, or support.

  • Craft early and often. Some weapons and items can be crafted quickly. Keep an eye out for crafting materials to give yourself an edge.

  • Communicate in co-op. Use voice or text chat to coordinate with your teammates, especially when deciding who covers what or when to heal.

I'm wandering where you got the lore for this guide. Is it from papers inside the game or something else. I find it interesting but not getting where you got the info. Mostly I was just wondering if I'm missing looking at things inside the game or you found that info else where.

It is important to note with melee weapons that the sledgehammer seems to do moderate dmg, while bat does low and sword does high. However, the sledgehammer seems to do a 360 attack.

There's one more type of safe in the hospital where the solution is literally the number of ticks you turn it, not the number you turn it to, if if says 8R you turn it 8 clockwise, after that if it says 4L you turn it 4 ticks counter clockwise, and so on.
