Doukyuusei is a complex games with opaque systems, a lot of missable encounters, and a scheduling system that can be intimidating to new players or completionist. While the 2021 remake's easy mode does much to alleviate the confusion and randomness in some of the game's key events and flag scenes, there is still a deluge of smaller scenes that are only accessible through guesswork, being in the right place at the right time, and manipulating encounters. Being something of a completionist, I searched for a detailed step-by-step guide to progress through Doukyuusei, and while I was able to find a thorough guide for the PC-98 version on atwiki[w.atwiki.jp], the closest thing I could find for the 2021 remake, in English, was a guide by GameGill[www.gamegill.com].

This guide was very helpful, but the formatting is a bit rough, and there are a scattering of inaccuracies and inefficiencies. So I took the GameGill guide as a base, reformatted it, and modified it as I played through the game myself. I have not playtested this guide as, after over 50 hours with Doukyuusei, I've had my fill. But this should be the most comprehensive guide on the title around.

To reach all endings in Doukyuusei, you will need to complete the game twice, as it is impossible to romance every heroine in a single playthrough. This guide is structured around a common route from August 10 to August 21. Afterwards, the story will branch into two paths. Path A lets the player pursue Miho, Mako, and Natsuko. While Path B lets the player pursue Misa, Ako, Kurumi, and Yayoi. Both paths have the player pursue Mai, Satomi, Chiharu, Kaori, Hiromi, Yoshiko, and Reiko.

There is no penalty for not getting enough sleep, as Takurou is a teenager, and teens don't need to sleep. You could spend your nights wandering around or trying to farm for money by interacting with the road construction near the school or the vacant lot in the southwest, but you really don't need to. Between the optional quizzes and fairies, you should be flush with cash throughout the game.

As an addition in this remake, Doukyuusei has comments from various creators collected in a series of color-coded journals. These journals are persistent unlocks that, once obtained, will remain accessible via the main menu. Meaning you can save, acquire the journals, reload an earlier save, and still access the journal in the main menu.

Brown Journal: Acquired by default, automatically unlocked.

Blue Journal: West of the pharmacy and south of Aihara Inc., there is a small forest. Walk through it to obtain the Blue Journal.

Green Journal: This journal is obtained by visiting the Crone’s house, located south of Towatari Medical Center. The Crone steals 1,000 yen each time you talk to her but, after talking to her three times, she will give you the Green Journal.

Orange Journal: During the last week of a run, if you have 20,000 yen or less, you will gain the ability to work 24 hours at the Construction Site to earn 10,000 yen. After working for two nights, you will be rewarded with the Orange Journal. If you have too much yen, you can spend it yen at the Fortune Teller in the southeast corner of Sakimake.

Red Journal: This one is tricky and by no means obvious to obtain. It's actually kind of malicious if I'm being honest. To obtain the Red Journal, you need to meet with the old geezer in the 4th Dimension (-) house late at night, possibly only at midnight. You can only enter this house one time per playthrough. He offers to turn back time for you, but if you accept his offer, he will steal 10,000 yen from you. If you do not accept his offer, he will give you 10,000 yen. Regardless of his choice, the home is closed and he cannot be interacted with again. If you meet the geezer at midnight, possibly other times, but midnight worked for me, and reject his offer, he will send you on a scavenger hunt across town. You need to go to Sakimake Station, the Academy, the Love Hotel, then the 4th Dimension (-) house. Once there, you will obtain the Red Journal.

Grey Journal: Collect all five fairies. I marked where and when to acquire these fairies in the walkthrough, but they can be obtained at the following places:
- Small Park - Search the bench for a fairy and to receive 3,000 yen
- Fujita Manufacturing Plant - Search the air conditioning unit in the upper right of the screen for a fairy and to receive 4,000 yen
- Academy Rooftop - Search the tripping hazard in the lower right for a fairy and to receive 3,000 yen
- Coffee House - Search the lamp near entrance for a fairy and to receive 4,000 yen. You can only obtain this fairy between 06:00 PM and 06:55 PM, at night and before the coffee house closes.
- Chiharu’s House - This location can only be accessed by pursuing Chiharu and going on a date with her on August 22. Search the pantsuit in the second story window for a fairy and to receive 3,000 yen.
You will not receive bonus yen when you receive the Grey Journal.

Pink Journal: After meeting Miho at the love hotel, she will be outside your apartment the following morning and will give you the Pink Journal.

Cyan Journal: Acquired after spending the night with Mai on August 29. You will obtain it during the morning of August 30.
