Edit: After playing for a while longer, my game ran well for a bit but then started Crashing more often, I recommend that if your game starts to crash, to restart your computer because it seems to me that it is caused by something wrong with the games caching. I would still recommend that you uninstall McAfee if you have it.


If Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location keeps freezing, crashing, or failing to load sprites on Windows 10/11 — this might be why...

In my case, it was McAfee Antivirus interfering with the game’s DirectX calls.
Even though my McAfee subscription had expired, it was still running in the background and silently blocking parts of the game.

McAfee Came with my computer.

1) Completely uninstall McAfee from your system.

• Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps, uninstall McAfee.
  
  
• (Optional but recommended) Download and run the official McAfee Removal Tool to make sure it’s fully gone.

2) Restart your PC after uninstalling.

3) Revert any weird tweaks you made before (compatibility modes, random DirectX changes, etc.) — run the game as it originally was.

4) Launch Sister Location.

• It should now run smoothly with no freezes or crashes.

• Windows Defender works fine with Sister Location — no extra tweaking needed.
  
• This fix might also apply to other Clickteam Fusion games with the same crash signature.
  
• If you’re still crashing after removing McAfee, try verifying your game files in Steam.

💡 Moral of the story: McAfee is scarier than anything in Sister Location.
