Introduction: Expectation & Explanation

This is the guide that inspired me to make this guide, though it is slightly outdated, and covers different topics, it should be a read for those interested in being a proper mordhau engineer.

That being said, ( Frontline & Invasion ) Engineer's Guide is separate, and imo is worth reading.
Ronin's Cunning Camp Map: Defense and Destruction

This is map shows the marking of strategic locations discovered by Ronin for tactical operations.
(This just shows spots of value, when to use them? Depends on the TEAM and the TIME.)

MAP KEY:
RED: Strategic locations for the Iron Company to do battle fortifications or flag deployments.
DARK RED: Strategic saboteur locations.
BLUE: Strategic locations for the Free Guard to do battle fortifications or flag deployments.
DARK BLUE: Strategic saboteur locations.
DARK PURPLE: Contested, but potentially viable strategic locations, for both militaries.
Iron Defender: Fashion and Formulation
(Ronin's Very Own Iron Company Defensive Sets):

(Iron Company Tower Engineer)
(ALT SET:) Use another hammer instead, and get a smoke bomb or bandage.

(Iron Company Battle Engineer)
(ALT SET:) Use the Iron Company standard axe instead of the Iron Company standard sword.

(Iron Company Engineer's Guard)
(ALT SET:) Use a bear trap, instead of the smoke bomb for a sneaky surprise...
Strategy: Formation and Fittings
Firstly BANDAGES, which cost a single point, should be used more often in more of your builds. If you use my (R) rebind all the better. They keep you in the fight like the Bloodlust perk though honestly I find the bandage to be generally better at doing so. Bandages even have a support function if you drop them to your team. When to use them? If you get hit on the battlefield losing more than half your health or close to it and teammates are around you, disengage, stop being so kill hungry and start back stepping a few feet and heal with bandages while keeping your eye on the enemy and seeing if they try to push for you because you are damaged if so maybe do a surprise bait stab. The other time is out of combat but make sure to check your surroundings.

Secondly SMOKE BOMBS, which cost two points, should be used more often in defense and protecting teammates buildings, if you have my r quick bind for the final slot I would recommend you putting them there. Smoke bombs are also a decent cover for setting up a defense, especially if you have a bear trap as well...

Thirdly FORMATIONS will make team damage even less likely to happen. A type of formation to use as an engineer is to set up your ballista to the far left or far right of backwards location from a front line, preferably on a hill or high ground, for shooting at the combatants and not your own team. (If you are a single engineer and no one is guarding you, it is not advised to be on ballista.)

Fourthly TEAMWORK, such as general communication with your comrades can be rather hard in Mordhau and is rarely used and sadly quite often is actively discouraged outside of discord. But call outs using team chat can come in handy depending on the reliability of your team and doing so can paint a picture of you as a teammate who is willing to strategize on the part of your team. Few, will listen, but maybe few, is all that you need. Telling your teammates that you placed a flag is generally useful when playing a battle engineer and last ditch efforts such asking to be guarded while doing objective may sometimes pan out. Other than communication protecting your teams archers and engineers from the other team and sadly oftentimes a troglodyte on your own team is a honorable thing to do. Also do not forget this is not duels this is the battlefield do not leave your teammate for a false sense of honor for you are not honoring your enemy or ally in 1v1's you are betraying your teammate and letting them die. Trust me when I say this, your enemy will not make the same mistake... Also, set Voice Audio to 60% at least, at this time, it is the only way for console players to communicate with you, player voices can be annoying, but they are useful.
Keyboard Rebinds: Convenience and Clarity
I WOULD HONESTLY TRY THIS FOR TWO ROUNDS IF I WERE YOU! You can reset key rebinds if you do not find these enjoyable but honestly for general gameplay I find these to be my favorite set of key rebinds I have tested over the years. Plus its only four changes from the default.

1.) Weapon Mode / Reload (R) to (Middle Mouse Button)
2.) Equip Slot 3 to (R) for quick pullout for bandages but keep default 3.
3.) Right Upper Strike to (Thumb Mouse Button Two)
4.) Stab to (Thumb Mouse Button One)

These four changes have made my combat much better personally.
Conclusion: Admiration and Argumentation

I hope you enjoyed this sequel to Mordhau's Frontline/Invasion. If you found this guide to be a useful and/or an amusing thing to read leave a like! If not, write your opinion in the comments.

It's good! I would suggest advanced strategies such as:

-Hiding spikes in bushes for environmental kills.
-Cheesing with spikes into enemy spawn + smoke grenade. (best)
- Hiding spawns/climbing up buildings to place them/ getting them behind enemy lines.
