How to Fix Uplay Error in Linux / Steam Deck

Ubisoft did not update their game client from uplay to ubisoft connect in the steam edition.

This makes it impossible to start Trackmania Turbo from Steam, because uplay is not able to connect to the ubisoft services anymore.

This guide describes how you can fix the uplay error on game startup by installing ubisoft connect in the wine prefix created by proton.

This should also work on the Steam Deck, but note that you need to do this in desktop mode.

You can follow the instructions here[github.com]:
I think one of the easiest way is to install it using flathub.

2. Download ubisoft connect

You can download it here[www.ubisoft.com].

3. Use Protontrix to install ubisoft connect

Protontrix enables us to interact with the wine prefix created by proton.

Choose Trackmania Turbo from the list and use the default prefix.

After that, choose to start an exe file and launch the ubisoft connect installer.

4. Start the Game

After the installation of ubisoft connect was completed, start the game. It now should start ubisoft connect instead of uplay, hence it now should work.
