Types of Hallucinations
These are the types of hallucinations in the game:
• Persistent Hallucinations (take pills)
• Decoy Hallucinations (no impact on if you should take pills or open door)
• Temporary Hallucinations (open door)
• Schrödinger’s Hallucinations (you must approach them)
• Special Hallucinations
• Hidden Hallucinations (take pills after triggering)

Persistent Hallucinations
These anomalies do not go away when approached, but a few can knock you out if you get too close and reset you to Day One. They are often accompanied by a tell-tale sound but that is not guaranteed. When there are persistent hallucinations you MUST take the pills at the door. Some of them will come after you, and others do not necessarily move or make sound.

Decoy Hallucinations
These are fleeting anomalies – a quick sound or a brief glimpse but then they’re gone. Decoy hallucinations have no bearing on whether or not you should take pills or open the door and may accompany any other kind of hallucination.

Temporary Hallucinations
Temporary hallucinations appear to be genuine hallucinations initially, but then they will vanish when you get close – often accompanied by a special sound. The point of the temporary hallucination is to try to fool you into taking the pills. If the hallucination is temporary then open the door – you will never have a temporary hallucination along with a persistent one. Don’t take the pills, you’ll be sent back to Day One. If it vanishes after touching you, it’s a temporary. If the hallucination goes away and there are no others, open the door.

Schrödinger’s Hallucinations
These are hallucinations that can be either persistent or temporary, and you MUST approach them in order to find out which they are. They will never appear to be a hallucination that can knock you out. If they vanish when you get close or interact, open the door – otherwise take the pills.

Special Hallucinations
Special hallucinations have specific rules they play by and these rules will appear in red on your notepad before you open the door. Special hallucinations WILL knock you out if you touch them. You may or may not need to take the pills, based on the standard rules.

Hidden Hallucinations
These are special hallucinations that will never occur unless you trigger them and each can only be triggered once. They all count as hallucinations, which means you need to take the pills after you unleash them – but they will never occur if there’s already an active hallucination. One nice thing about these hidden hallucinations is that if you’ve not unlocked them you can double-check to see if you’re in the clear by attempting to trigger them. If you do everything right but nothing happens, chances are you missed a persistent hallucination somewhere.

Hallucination Locations
Each hallucination has a specific place it can appear. Rather that spoil the hallucinations, this will list each section of your apartment that you need to check -- but not what you have to look or listen for. Also note that if the visitor knocks early or late there is very likely something wrong.

Extra Notes
Triggering the Hidden Hallucinations
There are 4 hidden hallucinations. Rather than spoil how to trigger them, know that there are three in the living room and one in the bathroom and the achievements themselves hint to how to activate them.

Note about Certain Persistent Hallucinations
There are a few persistent hallucinations that will come at you fast that your notepad won’t warn you about. If you spot them, get to the pills fast because they will be chasing you down and will knock you out on touch.
