Or what to do if the standard method of creating screenshots using the F12 key does not work

Introduction
There are games and applications on Steam that do not support the standard method of taking screenshots. The screenshot button does not work (F12 by default), and sometimes the Steam overlay does not work at all. You can take a screenshot of the game in some other way, but such a screenshot will not appear in the Steam Screenshot Manager. In this guide I will describe how to fix this. This guide was created for the game SimBro: ResErection, but this method will work for ANY game or application.
Step 1 - Taking a Screenshot
Since Steam was unable to create a screenshot of the game, we need to take one ourselves. By any available means. The easiest option is to press the Print Screen key in the game (the image will be copied to the clipboard), then open any photo editor, for example Paint, paste the image from the clipboard into it, and save it in *.jpg format
This method does not work everywhere, and the use of third-party software may be required.

If everything worked out for you, move on to step 2
Step 2 - Screenshots Folder
We have created a screenshot, but how to upload it to Steam?
A little theory
As soon as you take your first screenshot in the game, it is saved on your computer. Therefore, for this screenshot, a folder is created in which it is stored, a separate folder for each game. For example, screenshots of the game SimBro: ResErection should be saved at:
Steam_Folder\userdata\Steam_user_ID\760\remote\1763170\screenshots
Relative address
Where is Steam_Folder, the path where you installed your Steam client
Where is Steam_user_ID, the digital ID of your profile. It is unique for each user. If you are logged in to your client under only one account, then you will only have one folder
Where 1763170 is the game Steam ID. It is exactly the same as in the address of the game from the store
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1763170/SimBro_ResErection
Do you see? Same numbers.
On my PC the full path to this folder looks like this
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\108955936\760\remote\1763170\screenshots

You don’t have this folder yet, because it is created automatically along with the first screenshot. But we created the screenshot manually. Is the hint clear? Right

Creating a folder for screenshots
All you need to do is in the folder at
Folder_Steam\userdata\user_ID_Steam\760\remote
Create a new folder with your game ID instead of the name. As I already wrote, the game SimBro: ResErection ID is "1763170"
Next, in this folder you need to create a second folder named “screenshots”. And place your screenshots in this folder
Step 3 - Final
Restart the Steam client. If everything went well, then the screenshots that you placed in the screenshots folder will be displayed in your library, in your game. Now you can open the Steam Screenshot Manager and upload these screenshots to the site.

Important. Steam needs to be restarted every time you put new files in the screenshots folder

With these simple manipulations you can upload absolutely any image to Steam, even if Steam itself does not know how to create screenshots for your game
