[SiB] Breakthrough

Spring in Boscali
7 items
Description
Achieve total control over Boscali in the third and final day of a simulated conflict in an exercise locked in a brutal stalemate.

The second mission in the Spring in Boscali series, and the penultimate mission before the release of the mainline trilogy. Focusing heavily on air to ground combat and urban warfare, Breakthrough pits the KPAF and BDF against each other in a fight over control of Heartland's population and industrial centers, while also presenting a more story based experience than Naval Skirmish, albeit still with a focus on enjoyable gameplay.

Breakthrough serves as a demonstration of logic and multiple endings in the Nuclear Option mission editor, along with a take on a balanced yet uneven mission layout.

Intended Play Order:
Naval Skirmish > Breakthrough > Primevan Spring (currently unreleased) > Vanguard > Dawn (currently unreleased) > Dusk (currently unreleased) > Counterforce (currently unreleased) > Inferno (currently unreleased) > Midnight (currently unreleased)

Known Issues

Due to gameplay limitations, the munitions trucks mentioned by the BDF briefing at Agrapol near the hardened hangars have to be neutral. The neutral marked trucks are in fact the intended targets.

The logic system for detecting nuclear detonations may be prone to false positives, please let me know if you end up accidentally triggering the nuclear detonation dialogue via conventional strike.

The late game may result in the losing team having no hangars and being unable to play, without the match ending until all relevant airbases are captured. I have attempted every remedy I can for this, and the current solution is spawning ground vehicles nearby airbases after their defenses have been destroyed. This may very well not always work, but until Shockfront allows me to add map objects to objectives, there's simply nothing I can do within reason to solve this.

Received both the 5000 and 3,200,000 ending. After playing twice and taking a look under the hood, one thing is clear. [SIB] Breakthrough is a technical masterpiece.

I've tried setting it up so that the AI prioritizes spawning units closest to the convoy making the most progress but that only works on pre-spawned units that can be added to an objective, so it's likely that those units were destroyed by the time you started having that issue. Ideally the AI will still try to follow a somewhat balanced path, but under the system by which the game works in which ai will ALWAYS go to the nearest objective, there's only so much you can do to make them spread themselves out. I'm imagining something odd must have happened on your end since every playtesting session I've done in both singleplayer and multiplayer has gone fine, but those were all before the update and I haven't had a chance to test it since then. I will take a look when possible, but in the mean time you can try ordering some of your convoys towards the south and having more forces in that area. Hopefully that helps, not too much I can do until I can get a chance to test for the issue.

Something I am noticing is that the AI seems to go all in on one location. I was getting a bit frustrated seeing by midgame PALA put 100% of their effort into invading the South and pushing with air where no amount of donations to BDF would result in them sending any forces to defend the South, leading to a bit of a roll up the main island. Is this intended behavior? And is there way of biasing where units are spawned to balance defense and offense on your end?

will revamp this in a bit for 0.31

Yep, it's a balancing choice to give Boscali time to take out Agrapol before the R9 activates. BDF has a similar radar truck that watches over Costa Verde

Is it intended that the Primevan radar truck starts far away from the Stratolance launchers?
