This is a guide to get the Straw Hat item in Across the Obelisk. You will need two keys to get the chest containing it, the Jade Key from Aquarfall Marsh and either the White or Black Key from Faeborg or Velkarath, respectively. While technically possible to get to the chest without the white or black key, it's very unlikely as it requires an absurdly high check.

It is of note that you can go to Aquarfall after either Faeborg or Velkarath, if so desired.

First things first, you have to start the Straw Hat quest. This requires the node on the small lake to be purple, indicating it is an epic event.

Once you reach the small lake node, click on the option that says [explore].

After that, the node on the forest ruins will have an icon next to it, and that's the node you want to go to next.











Show the werewolves the note and a new node will appear. It will be a big question mark event, you can't miss it. You can get it after defeating Yogger, if you wish. At the node, dig.

And that ends all that needs to be done in Senenthia. On to the next act, Aquarfall.

There's only one thing you have to do at Aquarfall Marsh, and it's to dig up more stuff at the node Campsite, Strange Rock Formations.











There will be a multitude of options; you will want to select the second [Dig] option to dig near the western rock formation. This will result in you getting a key.

After defeating the hydra there are two options to get another key which will all but guarantee that you can get the Straw Hat. You can either go to Faeborg or Velkarath next.

Your goal here is to get the White Key from the Crates node in the Sewers.

There are two entrances to the Sewers, you'll want to make sure you go to the southeastern one.

After entering the sewers there will be a split path, you will want to take the right one. The one that takes you to the crates, preferably.

This node can either be common or uncommon, it doesn't matter. If you click any option that isn't [Leave] you will get yourself the white key. You can fail the checks on the uncommon node, but you will still get the white key.

Your goal here is to get the black key from the Statues node in the Black Forge.

There's only one entrance to the Black Forge.

After entering the Black Forge, there will be a split path. The node you're looking for is after the split path, after they converge.

Just select an option that opens the box, and you'll get yourself the black key.

The final act is where you will finally acquire the ever elusive Straw Hat. You need to go to the node Plaza, the Two Armies.

Here you want to pick the option that you've got the key for. If you've got the White key from Faeborg, you want to fight the north, white constructs. If you've got the Black key from Valkarath, you want to fight the south, black constructs.

After the fight you want to head straight down the middle towards the Jade Chest.

When you open the chest you get yourself the option to pick up the Straw Hat. Here's what the Straw Hat does:

The Straw Hat isn't acquirable on every playthrough. The epic event in Senentheia has to appear, and most of the time it simply doesn't. You can select seeds before the game starts so that you can guarantee the straw hat questline though, and I can give you a few of them.
