Introduction
  • Endings come in three types. Temporary endings end with the Dating Game going awry and the Abime in Nina/Magni being taken to the chair to reset. Error endings involve the Abime being sent to stranger timelines and resets, typically following a Temporary ending. Permanent Endings end with the Abime being prevented from returning to the chair, which means they lock up a save file
  • Permanent endings are made of two endings: the temporary ending on one side and the permanent ending with much more stringent lore requirements. For their achievement, you need to get both the temporary and permanent ending. The temporary ending will heavily hint to the series of events and relevant characters to the permanent ending
  • I've spoiled out the Permanent endings and a handful of lore/flowchart pieces that reveal too much. To be frank, reading node and Lore names without context is going make no sense, so you're not at much risk of spoilers
  • A cognitohazard/infohazard is the game's way of representing Permanent endings. That is, if the Abime watches something, it becomes reality, so seeing the end where the Abime can't make it back to the chair makes it the final loop. If you see a dead end where multiple arrows converge on the Lore chart, that's likely an ending.
  • The lore chart is divided into an upper and lower half. Both have nine rows, so that's how I've organized it: nine rows, numbered from left to right. Lore is unlocked in the order of the arrows. When a piece of lore's location can be found, a hint will show on it's place on the chart. For example, completing 2B - Science Tower will activate hints for all lore that can be found there, including pieces you don't have the necessary lore for. The Final Release added numbers to all lore
  • Lore is typically obtained from watching nodes, making correct choices in a few puzzle nodes, or thoroughly exploring and doing unique things in investigation sections. In fact, for most Side A investigation sections, lore is the only goal
  • In opposition to the first two games, you don't need to see most lore for the game's most final ending. Upon seeing the most final ending 300B, you unlock a layout that shows which column is which reset on the Flow Chart
  • One piece of Lore brings a major gameplay addition: [Telegrapher]. This one adds a counter to the status screen corner, letting you know what reset you're on. If you're struggling to figure out an ending, look at the reset counter during various nodes to see what scenes happen in that timeline

A handful of choices unlock a massive amount of new nodes:
  • Merging with Nina in Day 0A, after getting 274B
  • Fully completing 1/2/3/4B (fully preventing the day's victim death)
  • 4A can only be truly accessed after completing 4B.

This guide will not cover solving investigation sequences, so if you want more information or context for lore, check my other guide:

A Partially Spoiled Plot Synopsis of Head AS Code and Birth ME Code
This game fully expects you to have played the first two. Many lore pieces build upon the previous games and restate information, but plenty is dropped with the expectation that you know. I've included a partial synopsis of the first two games if you keep getting turned around by who did what.
I'll spoil out information that isn't given to you early on here. For example, you should know the name of the members of My Emptiness, their sins, the identity of Nina's brother, and the dates of the various killing games from the last two games

I had to jog my memory and reread a Let's Play thread for a couple of these. I'll link them below

Head AS Code
  • College student Simon Fourier is abducted during a ride on the MTS (Montreal Transport Society) and introduced to the Dating Game. Participants include his roommate Marco, crush Jasmine, twins H/Hannah and G/Greta, R/Ray, A/Agnos, and a blind/deaf woman named E/Emily. At first, most of the cast is referred to by their first inital.
  • The experiment began on 4/22/2022. The Dating Game ends with disaster as one participant (Agnos, who hates the Empty S for killing his wife) blows it all up, killing everyone but Emily. The game then continues with the player giving instructions to Simon (the first run is locked in to that ending)
  • The game is run by the Empty S. They run complicated tower complexes with a clinic as a front, where they run experiments on people. This part of the rationale for why several people were in the game: Ray was already on record as a test subject. They have access to advanced technology, such as mind scans, mind merging, and robots. To be more specific, they can take a brain scan and memories and put it in another person (at the expense of erratic behavior) effectively copying and pasting brains. They also have Ex Machinas, lifelike robots that take 12 years to mature. As an application of this, the Jasmine we meet is actually Hannah with Jasmine's memories placed into her, with the Hannah we meet being an Ex Machina with Hannah's memories
  • The original goal of the experiment was to have the mastermind, E/Emily Fiction(who isn’t truly blind/deaf, just wearing a sense locking device) attract the attention of God, which, in the view of the Empty S, is the Omnipotent/Omnipresent/Omniscent outside watcher who makes reality real. This didn’t work as intended, as God/YOU instead watched Simon.
  • The twist is that game isn't a time loop or alternate realities. Emily Fiction loved Simon and wanted his forgiveness, so she recreated the Dating Game again and again with mind scans and robot replicas of its cast with the goal of creating an end where Simon finds her and forgives her. The game ends with the S ending, where Simon meets Emily, now centuries old in 2310, and refuses to forgive her, but forgives her younger self. He takes back agency from God, and ends the game on his own terms with a self destruct with Emily’s body and the memory collar of the younger E/Emily

Birth ME Code
  • The ME game follows Pandora, who goes under the name Ancora to make things confusing, the leader of My Emptiness. My Emptiness is a criminal organization that’s primarily online. All of the members use Greek names of the deadly sins and do not know each others identities.
  • The game is introduced as Pandora trying to weed out a traitor through a killing game in 2002, but all parts of that are more complicated. Pandora (Real Name: Hannah) planned this, but the Empty S had other plans before it was hijacked by Ityne for her own ends. The traitor was Ancora (Greta), her twin sister who wanted to stop her crimes. The player is not Pandora; we’re more precisely her helmet monitoring her sight and thoughts. As we progress, we learn more about others and in the finale jump to a body of our own. This game takes place in November 19, 2014, but everyone believes its 2002 due to memory manipulation
  • Members of My Emptiness include Etienne (the child of an Empty S member who trafficked his bullies into human experiments), Annie (the daughter of rich Empty S members whose stress pushed her to kill), and Alex (a runner for Empty S Drugs). A boy was murdered at the Highschool they all went to in 2002 (likely by Annie), where the Principal was framed and convicted with Mark Tremblay falsifying information and the Principal's daughter Lucille blowing up the school in retribution for her father’s false conviction. As mentioned before, the leader Hannah and the traitor Greta were also members. There’s also Nico and Erelle, who are sexual predators
  • This time around, each version of the plot is genuinely a different reality reset with the player retaining information. The game ends with a character who usually dies at the start of the game’s death being prevented. This person is Emily Fiction, an EMILY android made by Ityne who she considers a daughter of sorts. The goal of this game was to humanize her and the player consciousness goes to her for the finale. Emily is asked to pass judgement on My Emptiness, leading to everyone but the twins (Hannah and Greta) being overwritten with the ME Code: a version of Ityne’s mind.
  • Where we last left off, Ityne, Marco, and Me Coded My Emptiness were setting her plot, Project Deforge, in motion with the central goal to rescue Zachary, Lucille and Alex’s principal father who was being kept imprisoned, from an Empty S Complex. The twins are sent off to another complex, #27, for their safety. The awoken E/Emily lives her own life for several years before becoming an Empty S worker and masterminding the Dating Game. The AI host, ME, is deleted
  • Ityne’s goal, among others, is that she believes a universe that sustains human life cannot exist past reset 300. Resets are an important concept: basically, every time a universe ends, a second with with a slightly different timeline happens afterward. This game takes place across Resets 277-288, with 288 being the finale. 288 will be mentioned again, as it's the one that leads to the Dating Game as we experienced it
  • A plot beat that isn't highly emphasized is the self consistency principle: to time travel somewhere, a time line must first exist where time travel is feasible. The game ends with Emily/E going to the Dating Game on the grounds that the self consistency caught up with her, which implies that the Dating Game needed to happen for any of this happen. More precisely, the Dating Game needs to happen in 288

    • Side Start, Crack the Stick: See 291B once to unlock the link here. This node will change if you've completed the USB step on Day 1A
      • The True Plan: With [Telegrapher] and [Decryption Key], having had completed the USB step in Day 1A - ES Repair, put it in the correct decryption code in Crack the Stick: F0r3v3r + Ityne's three digit age = F0r3v3r314. The puzzle here is deceptively simple: Ityne says in the prologue that she's 314 years old, which you might assume is wrong: if you're here, you already know Ityne is actually prematurely aged so her physical age is much younger. Here's the trick: Ityne looks identical to an older Emily from Head AS Code and we've been told about the self consistency principle (in the ending of Birth ME Code and the [Self Consistency] lore), the idea that Reset 288 and Head AS Code needs to happen for Ityne's plan to work. This points us to an interesting conclusion: since the ending of Head AS Code happened in 2310, it's actually possible that the Emily of the future got sent back and merged with Ityne, so this Ityne is literally 314 years old mentally.
      • Ending 297: Either use the Abime as a bargaining chip in Untimely Bargain or complete The True Plan

    Day 4B

Day 4B requires 1/2B to be successful. 3B can be succeeded or failed and has different routes

Left Path, off A Third Victory: Succeed in 1/2/3B

Middle Path, 1/2/3B succesful, 4B failed
    • ESpionage: 1/2/3B succesful, 4B failed
      • I, Android: Complete ESpionage succesfully by guessing the correct person: Magni. The puzzle is as follows: We’re told to talk to everyone and investigate them to see if there’s any problems, then accuse them of being ES in disguise. We're given an obvious hint: ES is missing a hand. Both Annie and Matriarch do actions with both their hands, so that clears them. The trick here is that the question we're answering is slightly different than the one being asked: just because ES is impersonating someone doesn't mean the person we're talking to is ES. Carrie says she saw us checking on the mastermind door when we didn’t, so that instantly reveals the actual answer: there’s a second Magni (if you have your lore [#013] you might remember there'a an extra set of Magni’s clothes). The person we accuse is him. The first time around, I, Android will reach a lock and open up Murder Team on 4A
      • Softened/Ending 293B: Reach I, Android, jump to 4A Murder Team and see 293A, then jump back with Lore [#100]

Right Path, 1/2/4B successful, 3B failed

Error Ending 3 - Error 044 - Subjective Freedom: After seeing 292B, return to Had Enough and suggest an alternate plan

    Permanent Endings
Before doing any of these, copy your save file to a new slot or you'll lock your file out of any other ending

Permanent Ending 1 - Ending 295 - The Decision of Order
    • Temporary, Side B: Return to the 294 path at 2B, What Really Happened, then choose to obey and kill Carrie.
    • Hint: Systems vanishes on this route. Where’d she go?
    • Hint 2: Nina gets increasingly erratic in the 294 path. What would happen if some truly devastating information reached her at her lowest point?
    • Permanent, Side A: With [Worst Finds] and [Revival?], return to 2A Cyclopeon Theory, choose to merge with Nina, and record the following choice

Permanent Ending 2 - Ending 296 - The Decision of Never
    • Temporary, Side A: Merge with Nina on Day 0A and Fail 1 B. At Dilemma of Liars, choose to stay out of it to preserve the lies
    • Hint 1: This route is the contigency plan Ityne set up with Zach. Understanding what that is is the first step
    • Hint 2: Zach needs fingerprints, so we need to figure out who could help with that and what their deal is
    • Hint 3: Why would ES take Etienne's arm?
    • Permanent, Side B: Fully understand Ityne's plan with Zach and the nature of ES. Return to Death of I with [Finger Thievery] and [God in Essence] and act out the plan

Permanent Ending 3 - Ending 297 - The Decision of After
    • Temporary, Side A: Use the Abime as a bargaining chip in Untimely Bargain
    • Hint 1: What is Ityne's plan with Zach and what does she need for it? What is Project Deforge?
    • Hint 2: If Ityne's dead, we're never going to hear from her what she wants. Did she leave a note?
    • Hint 3: Etienne found a USB on Ityne. How are we going to upload it, find it's code, and read it?
    • Permanent, Side B: Get to the bottom of the plan, the USB, and get the Telegrapher. With [For the Future], return to It Is For the Future and reveal Ityne's plan

Permanent Ending 4 - Ending 298 - The Decision of Forever
    • Temporary, Side B: 1B successful and 2B failed (2B failed either through not completing the Science Tower or getting unlucky with the raffle afterwards).
    • Hint: In the temporary ending, Annie and Anastasia are the only unaccounted for people. One of them is the key to this route
    • Hint 2: Who's in the chair on the main menu?
    • Permanent, Side A: Fully figure out Anastasia’s backstory up to [Dangerous Search] and [Patient Zero]. Head to 3A and choose the node in the upper right (The Trillitonth Question) and record the resulting choice

Permanent Ending 5 - Ending 300 - The Decision of Other
This one actually doesn't have a temporary ending. You see Permanent Ending 300A then 300B
    • Hint 1: Unless you figure it out early, you're likely going to find the starting point for this ending simply by doing everything else and having one node with a code you can't figure out
    • Hint 2: Several late game nodes cause reality to break and a short snippet of text to appear. If this is a code, where would it be put in?
    • Hint 3: If you've seen the other permanent endings, you'll realize there's one mystery we haven't gotten an answer on: who is Talos?
    • Hint 4: There are four chains of lore that need to be completed: The Empathy Passwords, the reason the Empty S was established, the idenity of Talos, and the idenity of EM
    • Permanent, Side A: Complete 4A Forge route to open The Core. At the door, put in the four codes from Lore #056/83/85/104: WILLF, INDTA, LOS2B, EHIND
    • Permanent, Side B: After seeing Side A, jump to YOU and I and let everything play out
    Achievements
Most of this game's achievements are straightforward (complete a tower, see endings, complete exploration) so I won't cover those. If you need exploration dialogue, see the other guide

There are five achievements for fully realizing a character's idenity, all of which refer to a lore node... except Talos's Secret, which is actually part of ending 300B

Proceed With Caution: Reach a Permanent ending choice, then back out

Cat's Out of the Bag: Complete the cat locker puzzle with Carrie in 2B Science tower, then find the cat with her in 3B Garden and 4B Forge

Archived Knowlege Y: See all flow chart nodes that aren't on the other side of a Permanent end lock. In practice, if you're going for Lore and Endings you'll see most everything. Outside of those ones, here's some you might miss:
    • 0A Exploration Failure: Fail the prologue exploration
    • 1A Android Slumber: Fail 1A
    • 2B That's Not Me!: Guess Harold in Mismatched Recollection
    • 1B: 1B Prison towers has four failure otucomes with different nodes: Failing elevator/failing to disarm Annie, Failing Elevator and succesfully disarming Annie, Getting CD without disarming Annie, Failing Chip's Disabler Challenge,
    • 2B: Talking to all four people before Sciecne Tower on 1B success route
    • 2B Desolated Aftermath: 1B failed, Disarm Turret in 2B Science Tower but fail to find the Chip Disabler
    • 2B Best Served Cold: 1B failed, fail to disarm turret before 15:00
    • 3B Matriarch vs Carrie on 1B Failed side.
    • 3B Zach vs Matriarch on 1B successful side
    • 4B ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Ninja: Complete 2B Science Tower with the Papers, then look for Matriarch in Not Used to Living

Archive Knowledge U: Most CG's will be found through going for all Lore, Nodes, and Endings. There's one odd one: Page 12, picture 6. This is the CG you get from Permanent Ending 300B if you've completed the cat side quest (it's a variation of Page 12, Picture 5 you get with that condition)

Become AS Gods: See all achievements. Mind you, this is for in game achievements. I mention because I lost my save file between the main game and early access and had to redo a couple.

It's funny because a lot of lore doesn't lean into the path for the true ending and a fair amount doesn't unlock anything. For example, all lore with Carrie is actually for an Error Ending.
I tried to set it up so that looking at the lore section in of itself doesn't immediately make endings clear (that's what the ending category is for)

@Nekkid Grandma - You don't need to fully complete the chart for the true ending, though you'll end up completing a lot of it as you go through everything to get to the true end anyway. Sometimes lore unlocks new dialogue options/points on the flowchart, so if you find yourself stuck on what to do next the hints on the lore chart can be a good starting point.

I don't really wanna read into the guide in case I spoil myself, but is the lore chart tied into the true ending of the game? I imagine getting the other endings is crucial to that but is the lore chart there as more of a bonus or is full completion also required?

Those are the markers for how much of the dialogue you've seen in each investigation scenes (all Abime games have achievements for hunting them all down). It's broken up by character (Nina/Magni being stuff we examine or use items alone, everyone else their dialogue or things they respond to while partnered with) and by scene (most blocks are on screen, while a couple (a lot of Side B sections with the Lobby or Octagon room) are multiple screens in one block)
More information is in the other guide in the description

Really useful guide thanks for work put into making it. Do you have any idea what the numbers represent under the different character portraits on the flowchart and why there're multiple entries but with different numbers for the same exploration section?
