What You Need Before You Start
If you are new and have heard that the Endless Dungeon is the best way to farm XP and souls, or an experienced player looking to hone their technique to kill the enemies faster, this is what you should obtain before taking the Endless Dungeon more seriously:

SPELLS
  • Ionized Bolt
  • Seekers
  • Crystal Burst
  • Chain Lightning
  • Transmutate
  • Meteor Storm

While you can only equip 5 spells at a time, both Ionized Bolt and Crystal Burst serve similar functions, therefore you can choose either one to fulfill the role. You will see why later in the guide. If you aren't already, start focusing all of your runes into leveling up these spells!

EQUIPMENT

This is all optional, but if there is one thing you prioritize here, it is Weapon Runes of Magic on a weapon with 3 rune slots. Spells are the most important part of your Endless Dungeon run, and should be at their maximum potential.

The endless dungeon is tailored to your current level, increasing in difficulty each floor. This means that it doesn't truly matter how strong your weapon or armor is, as it quickly becomes irrelevant. Try to wear epic or legendary pieces of armor that provide 2 rune slots, as they are the actual important part.

If you do this, you will have 8 armor rune slots, which you would ideally slot with x4 poison resist, and x4 void resist. You will face trolls and even more troll warriors that spew poison starting at floor 11, and it will melt your face off, even if you block. The poison runes are your best friend. As for the void resist runes, you will greatly appreciate them when you face the alignment dungeons, and especially the void alignment floors. These runes are more useful that other ones because the enemies in void dungeons spam spells that chip away at you even if you block. The alignment dungeons also have a player vs player battle, and a vast majority of players have Seekers, Transmutate, and/or Crystal Burst. Light spells don't typically hurt too much or stun your character, and the dreaded meteor storm has a long wind up and allows you to retreat out of range. Note that the regular magic resist runes DO NOT prevent damage from alignment spells, only spells from regular enemies like non-alignment witch doctors.

Once again, the level of your equipment is secondary to having the rune slots, and especially your weapon. By floor 11 or 12, you will be doing 1 damage per swing, or close to it. The only thing that doesn't scale in each floor is the enemy magic resist, so keep in mind that your spells will still be reaching the damage thresholds, even on the highest floors.

BUFFS

Okay, so buffs are expensive, and definitely optional, but there are two buffs that you absolutely need if you are serious about melting enemies: Witching Hour Boost and Magic Cool Down x2 (to make it an hour of both boosts). If you haven't heard of the Witching Hour boost - I don't blame you. It isn't displayed in the Store tab, but rather the Inventory tab, under the Boosts section. Despite it's namesake, you don't have to play at 3 AM to get this boost! These 2 boosts give you magic damage increase, and spell recharge bonus. The Witching Hour boost costs 100k souls, however it lasts for one hour instead of the usual 30 boosts. If you don't quite have enough souls, you don't have to buy these boosts on Floor 1, as you can still compensate by doing a lot of melee damage with normal attacks.

Other optional buffs include the xp boost if you are already done with the campaign and are grinding to lvl 60 (Don't worry about it otherwise), the gear protection buff, but only if you are far from ascending again, and with equipment you got at the level or up to 4 levels above your last ascended Caos' level, as the equipment in chests do not scale with floor level, only your current level, and lastly and least, a health boost buff. Don't even consider using an attack speed buff or move speed buff - it is a waste of souls for the Endless Dungeon.

BONUS TIP

Don't navigate the game by just walking, especially not while using times buffs in the Endless Dungeon! Try dash attacking with animation canceling to go much faster! To do this using the keyboard, press spacebar, then do a light attack with a left click, and immediately start spamming spacebar again to interrupt the attack animation. On a controller, it is a little more difficult, as the mapping is a little... weird. Hold down block with RT, then press X (on the XBOX controller). As soon as the dash starts, let go of block and press X again to attack. As soon as you see the attack start, hold RT immediately and spam X again. For both methods, note that you can animation cancel before the maximum dash distance is reached, which will hinder your speed. Don't wait too long though, or you'll have slowed down at the end of the dash. Using this method, you can make the most of your timed buffs as you dash through the Endless Dungeon and world map!
Enemy Tips For Efficiency
Alright, so you have progressed through the game and chosen the 4 essential spells and your preferred stun spell between Crystal Burst and Ionized Bolt. Here is my recommendation between the two for maximum efficiency: Ionized Bolt is more useful for stun-locking bosses after all the other enemies are dead, so that you can get hits on the boss as long as you have Crusade emblems that inflict lightning, frost, or burn. Let's remember that stun-locking a boss isn't the most useful unless you are melee attacking, and your melee attacks will become worse than feathers when it comes to damage. If you don't have Crusade emblems that give you a chance to inflict elemental damage, just go for Crystal Burst. You may consider Crystal Burst anyway if you find yourself having a hard time blocking some of the enemies. I recommend Crystal Burst unless you are deviating from this guide with the weapon runes by using elemental damage chance runes instead. To be clear, I don't recommend doing this, but I want to make sure you pick the right tool for what you are working with. With your 5 spells settled, let's get into damage thresholds.

DAMAGE THRESHOLDS

This damage threshold guide is going to assume that you are not using magic damage-boosting runes or buffs. Sometimes we have to spend our souls on buying other things - I get it. The legacy reward pillars, gear that is 4 levels higher right before you ascend, or whatever situation happens. If you use the bonuses, just keep in mind that you will follow the same strategy I will give for the enemy strategy section. You will mostly see results in saving a cast of your spell here and there, and defeating the boss much faster.

  • Trolls: 1 Seekers, OR 2 Crystal Burst, OR 1 Chain Lightning. DO NOT USE TRANSMUTATE!

  • Armored Trolls: 1 heavy attack to knock away shield, then 2 Seekers is best. In big groups, use AoE spells such as Crystal Burst or Chain Lightning, then if necessary, finish with one heavy attack -> 1 Seekers. DO NOT USE TRANSMUTATE!

  • Troll Warriors/Brutes: These guys are tanky and hard to block. They sometimes block as well. The best strategy for finding yourself in a corridor or room full of trolls, armored trolls, witch doctors, and these guys is to dash around them, turn around and then use Chain Lightning on the grouped enemies, dash forward into the crowd and use 2x Crystal Burst, and then finish them with Seekers. Alternatively, if Chain Lightning and/or Crystal Burst is on CD, use a Meteor Storm. This clears everyone fast! ONLY USE TRANSMUTATE IF THERE ARE ONLY LARGE ENEMIES AROUND!

  • Witch Doctors: These guys are so frustrating - until you realize their weakness is just one usage of Transmutate. It one-shots them! If they are around the smaller enemies, then DON'T use it, but they frequently show up in a small circle by themselves, or in little rooms with chests around a variety of enemies. Just use a chain lightning, dash forward, then use Crystal Burst. This should kill all small enemies, and allow you to use Seekers for any that barely survived, or Transmutate if there are also Troll Warriors that have survived, without any small guys remaining.

  • Bats (Floors 6+): These guys are so weak, even a well-aimed single target Seekers can kill them. They typically show up in large groups, so it can be beneficial to skirt around them, turn around, and use a Chain Lightning on them, followed by a dash forward into Crystal Burst if there are also other larger enemies or wolves around. DO NOT USE TRANSMUTATE!

  • Wolves (Floors 6+) One wolf can die to 2 full hits from Seekers. If they are in a large pack, or amongst a decently-sized group of small enemies, just group them by skirting around the crowd, turn around, and use your Chain Lightning into Crystal Burst combo. If they are on CD, use a Meteor Storm DO NOT USE TRANSMUTATE!

BOSS TIPS

The tips I gave above about clearing the specific enemy types are useful, and apply to boss fights as well. You dash around the boss, getting other enemies to spawn, and then find an angle to use Chain Lightning and then Meteor Storm! Dash away from the boss toward the other side of the Meteor Storm, and then unleash all Seekers. When all small enemies are dead, start using Transmutate and watch the health bar drop!

Finishing Blows

When fighting bosses, you sometimes take random damage from a stray witch doctor, troll, or from the boss itself. Make sure that when you are casting spells that do damage over time (DoT), you are mashing your finishing blow button. The health restored is nice, and you actually get 3x XP from any finishing blows. You can see this reflected by two blue numbers. For example, if an enemy normally gives 50 XP, after a finishing blow you will see two blue numbers: +50 XP and +100 XP. This is especially important for bosses, who give massive amounts of XP. Make sure that you know how low the boss is, especially if the health bar keeps disappearing as you dash away to cast more spells. When the boss is low, it is too dangerous to use Crystal Burst or Ionized Bolt if you have it, as it may deal too much damage. I recommend using seekers and then mashing your finishing blow button like a madman.

Hagaz The Killer

This guy deserves a category of his own, due to his unique strategy and glitch. Firstly, if you think you can stun-lock this guy, think again. He will laugh at you and then literally kick you in the face. He will occasionally spawn some witch doctors, which you COULD stun him out of, but at the end of the day it's free XP and souls if you have Transmutate off CD. If it is on CD, perhaps just stun him out of the animation, otherwise just let him summon them and then use Transmutate to insta-kill them for a little treat. I recommend trying to save one Transmutate cast for this scenario during the bossfight with him. Now, for the glitch. Hagaz is a killer, unless he grabs you. For whatever reason, if you hold block while he picks you up by impaling you, then slams you into the ground - you take 1 damage per hit. Hagaz is also the most notorious for having a disappearing health bar if you wander even a little distance away. He will even disappear entirely if you run away to heal outside of combat - resetting his health bar. Because of this, I will remind you of an interesting mechanic: you can block while you are in an animation of casting a spell, without cancelling the spell. That's right folks, it doesn't matter if you expose your abs during a spell cast or to Hagaz's grabbing spear attack; it is apparently made of diamond /s. You should be habitually holding block anytime you cast a spell, as well as mashing the finishing blow button when enemies are getting low to Seekers, Chain Lightning, or Meteor Storm.
Rewards and Finishing Thoughts
Okay, so now you know how to get super far in the Endless Dungeon, which is apparently really good for XP and soul farming, but how good are the rewards, anyway, and when do the chests reset? Good question! At the bottom of this section there will be an image detailing the rewards for the floor after you beat the boss, given that you decide to leave the Endless dungeon. There are bonus chests every 5 floors and many more every 25 floors. Even if you just play for an hour, you could get to about floor 10 and then cash out for 131,500 souls! You almost get that much just from killing mobs from floor 1 through floor 10, so it really adds up! Here are some things to consider, though:

Chest Resets

Chests reset at 00:00 Pacific Time, daily. This is for all chests in the game, not just the endless dungeon. If you have beaten the game, make sure to get the rare epic chest at the Hand of Kul location if the first area, and the Gray Fane chest in the second area, both of which are in the over world. Chests also reset whenever you ascend. A good strategy would be to login, get the two aforementioned chests, take back your shrines and altars, repair your equipment, and then go to the Endless Dungeon. Be wary of playing at a time close to midnight, Pacific Time, as you can make things respawn in the middle of playing in the Endless Dungeon, which would result in your subsequent attempt having empty chests for every floor you completed after the day reset. Also be wary of continuing in the endless dungeon if you level up to the next level you need to ascend. If you are okay with restarting the dungeon, just finish whatever floor you were on, and then cash out. Note that if you do choose to ascend inside the dungeon, the enemies will adjust their levels, and so will the loot from chests. This means less XP and souls from enemies, and lackluster loot. If you aren't super far in the dungeon, it also means that for the rest of the day, the chests you open will be empty the next time you make it that far.

No matter what, your schedule and needs are the most important factor. Use these tips to figure out if it matters whether or not the reset will happen. If you are super far in the dungeon and don't expect to get that far in the next day, then keep going! If you aren't going to play the next day, keep going! Tailor these tips to your life!
